❤❤One of my favorite songs of all time. I had the pleasure of seeing them perform this live about 32 years ago when Sugarfoot was still living. I’ll tell you they sound just as good live. They also sang: Skintight, Sweet Sticky Thing, I Want to be Free, Fire. FOPP, Love Roller Coaster, Ecstasy, and others. One of the most memorable days of my life. They are from Dayton, Ohio.
I must, Ashley, we were on a totally different frequency back in the day! However, your "every- being" has been de-calcified! That is truly evidence that these classic tunes resonate with your soul. This is real R&B in TRUE form! Case n point..."Rhythm & BLUES" this is soul music!
Yeah, they did take pride in their musicianship as you're taken in by the instrumental parts. Ohio Players, definitely one of the (R&B/Funk) G.O.A.T.s for sure!.....Good reaction!
I'm not from Ohio but grew up on the R&B/Funk bands of the 70's. The list of funk bands with roots in Ohio is absolutely phenomenal. I say this with no disrespect to all the great musicians and bands of that era and there were many, but Ohio takes a back seat to nobody in the 70's.
They stated in their Unsung episode, that just about all of their songs started out as jam sessions. They would come back later and add the lyrics to fit the music.
Although this song is from 1974, one of the radio stations in New Orleans used to play it every day during the summer of 1986. That's when I first heard it. I thought it was a new song then. It's one of the great classics! It still sounds great in 2023. Thanks for reviewing.
the pianist, drummer, guitarist, bassist, flautist, vocals this band was (and perhaps still is) the pinacle of traditional and instrumental, musical excellence!!
Yes, they are from Ohio and have a really nice catalog of Music. Since you enjoyed the instrumentals in this one, check out their hit “Sweet Sticky Thing.”
OMG, reminiscing on the summer of 1974, still in high school w/o a care in the world. The bands of the 70s were AWESOME!!! I can proudly say that grew up surrounded by great music...🔥🔥🔥
Certainly a great difference between this and "Brick House". This is why we used to buy albums instead of singles. Good bands have many facets, like a jewel.
Hello, Ashley! I'm glad you picked my suggestion, this song is in my top 20 favorites of all time. You should try next "I Touched A Dream" by the legendary group The Dells. Cheers from Brazil!
Ashley, you are absolutely right! Just more of that fantastic baby making music from the 70's. 🚼🤱 And the Ohio Players are from Dayton Ohio. You've only touched the surface of their songs. Songs like Skin Tight, Fire, Roller Coaster, Sweet Sticky Thing, O-H-I-O, and Jive Turkey. This is just one of the many groups we partied to back in the day😂
WAIT AH MINUTE!! WAIT AH MINUTE!! You got an Ohio BOI!!!! Now we getting somewhere hahahaha You need to play and react to ROGER and ZAPP "Computer LOVE" come on on! O-H!
"Click Click " playlist, yes, indeed Ashly, great sweet sounds from The Ohio Players, I know they made it your grown & sexy Playlist. You mentioned musical chokeholds on your grandmas and aunties, there's good reason for that. Your grandma's and aunties that you know of today, was once yesterdays “Sweet Sticky Things and "Brick Houses". Don't believe me, just check out The Ohio Players song called "Sweet Sticky Thing" also, peep that album cover with the honey girl on it, yep, that's your grandmas and aunties of yesterday on that album cover. Great reaction as always.
I want to switch it up for you, react to the group MOTHER'S FINEST and their song titled TRUTH'LL SET YOU FREE from their ANOTHER MOTHER FURTHER album! Get ready to hear one of the ABSOLUTE GREATEST FEMALE SINGERS you've ever heard!
This is the song that Isiah Thomas was singing after the Detroit Pistols won the NBA championship. I guess he was singing it to The Larry O'Brien trophy.
Well, if you want to get pregnant, listen to a smooth slow jam by the Ohio Players, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, the Isley Brothers, Teddy Pendergrass and others! It's the perfect fertility pill for a woman having trouble getting pregnant! And, for those of you who wish to have an abortion, listen to a Joe Cocker or Michael Bolton record! It always does the trick! Good reaction! ✌️😎
This is so up your alley, it’s not even funny. “Heaven Must Be Missing And Angel” Tavares- Dig, the outfits. Kool & The Gang is envious. This was a massive ROLLER RINK & Disco hit in the 70’s. Great sound. ua-cam.com/video/J123lM0RvzM/v-deo.htmlsi=ZWfxmCmcUHt9MbUi
As a matter of fact, they are originally from Dayton, ohio. You could literally ride down the street in Trotwood and talk to Sugarfoot as he was walki g down the street.
(A late comment.) If you haven't already reacted to this song (and you really seem to like the old school, romantic jams) try 'Sensuality' by the Isley Brothers. (You won't be disappointed!) Good reaction! ✌️😎
Do young people today listen to instrumentals like this? You can tell they don't. They have to smoke weed to calm down instead of listening to some jazz, classical, or smooth R&B.
You had to be able to talk right to a woman back then. They were not generally as open as they are now. The singers litterally taught us how to talk to the women for real.
The bands were unbelievable in the 70s and 80s.
The best music imo was from the 70s and 80s.
I was born and raised in Toledo! I got a lot of family in Dayton and Columbus. Ohio Players made us proud!!!

OMG! I had all the Ohio Players Albums ever since Skin Tight, I have been a fan since. I know now some members have gone to Heaven. So, Enjoy!!!
I started listening on rattlesnake
❤

The greatest band of all times (GOATs) !!!
1 of many

I am officially your biggest fan!! Lead singer of the Ohio Players is “Sugarfoot”
They stated in their Unsung episode, that just about all of their songs started out as jam sessions. They would come back later and add the lyrics to fit the music.

Love the way you don't talk and interrupt the music. You actually listen and then comment , the way a reaction should be done!
Another great song of theirs "I Want to be Free".
Exactly
Yes, they are from Ohio and have a really nice catalog of Music. Since you enjoyed the instrumentals in this one, check out their hit “Sweet Sticky Thing.”
Ever wonder why that generation was so laid back and chilled? Music like this, all day and night!
OMG, reminiscing on the summer of 1974, still in high school w/o a care in the world. The bands of the 70s were AWESOME!!! I can proudly say that grew up surrounded by great music...🔥🔥🔥
They are jazz musucians, that's why its so smooth.
This has been my ringtone for years. Just puts me in a good mood.
I am also from Ohio (GO BUCKEYES!!!), now in California. Great reaction. Keep introducing yourself to new (old) music. Classics are the best.
Yes. Real masterful music by masterful musicians and singers. Much love and respect ✊🏿
Classic soul at its finest ✌🏾
I have to say to vibe with the new generation in this space... your ear is off the chain.... you get this mamma.... go deep.... enjoy I am loving this
Certainly a great difference between this and "Brick House". This is why we used to buy albums instead of singles. Good bands have many facets, like a jewel.
We brought singles too
Girl you playing everything I liked back then and your right about it's baby making music even though I only have 2 sons so keep em coming ❤

All of their album cover's art is so so proper!!💯💯👌
Then you have to listen to Ohio Players: I want to be free!

Dayton, Ohio, The Land of Funk. YES.

Next up, 'Make me say it again girl' by the Isley Brothers!
✌️😎
This my ring tone for my wife! Classic
Do a little research on the bands that came out of Ohio. Specifically Dayton Ohio. Some of the greatest 70s and 80s funk bands in history.
The Ohio Players are from Dayton Ohio. Dayton is rich in 70s and 80s black music
This was and still is a great song for making love to or sitting back and enjoying the groove. A great choice!
Watch their Soul Train performance on this song.
Where have you been? The 70's is the best generation for music lovers. Have you heard of The Jackson 5?
Noooo doubt, The 70's was a musical PARADISE!! TJHS Class of "72"💪🎶🎵🔥🔥👌👌
This is a Blue Lights In The Basement Award Winner.
Great Reaction 👍🙏
Yes indeed great rnb jazz 70s classic
Oh yeah they can play 🎼 🎺 🎷 🎸 🥁 🪘 🎹
You should listen to D'Angelo's cover of this song. So good!
Ms if you listen to: "I Want be Free" by the Ohio Players.. you might grow a afro and put some high heel boots on 😅

I listen to mostly instrumentals now.

Hi 5
Do young people today listen to instrumentals like this? You can tell they don't. They have to smoke weed to calm down instead of listening to some jazz, classical, or smooth R&B.
What They don't know goat debate They are in absolutely Westside Chgo😢
You had to be able to talk right to a woman back then. They were not generally as open as they are now. The singers litterally taught us how to talk to the women for real.
You talk too much, we should hear more than 5 seconds of music. When you appreciate the introduction, uninterrupted is ideal for your listening skills
Ya, just don’t be a headache. …. 👍🏾 ALL LOVE .
