What habit we practice to avoid unnecessarily buying stuff, is we stick to our purchase list, which we maintain on our refrigerator and add items as they are used up. This makes us to stick to our list items and avoid buying stuffs which are not on list or are not used frequently. Hope it will help

Not everyday but we are trying to wean him now. Somedays he sleeps alone and some days he wants to sleep with us. It is totally ok to make them sleep in a separate room.
