- What’s In Your Backyard is a celebration of the beautiful local spots that are within driving distance of your home. Given 2020 has been a year of change for travel, Beautiful Destinations wants to put a local spotlight on our community, their homes and show that travel is as much about exploring the hidden gems around you as it is venturing somewhere foreign. We gave the BD community a challenge: to show us what's in their backyard using just their phones and drones. We are proud to present our winner, Diogo Bras with Praia da Ursa.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES:
"Hey guys! Diogo Bras here. I am a Portuguese Creative Producer/Filmmaker and I'm blown away to have this incredible opportunity that seemed like a dream to me.
I started my journey as a filmmaker over a year ago and until now I'm just filming with my phone. Everyday I work on improving my skills and I had a lot of failures. Failures to myself and not being able to create what I wanted. But I had some wins and the best win of all was this one.
What's In Your Backyard was a challenge from Beautiful Destinations and when I saw it, I didn't think twice. I called some friends and we explored our own backyard with just a phone a drone.
Praia da Ursa is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It really surprised me to see a place like it in Portugal. I didn't have to catch an airplane to see the most beautiful beach I ever saw. If you explore your own backyards, with your family or your friends, you will without doubt discover a paradise in a place that's always been close to you." - Diogo Bras

@@brasdio Yeah! But I really don't think that using a phone as a camera is a limiting factor
@@vinivcfreitas It's so close to being solid (especially given the shot with a phone thing) but I'm inclined to agree, a few things I noticed off the top of my head: overly crushed blacks, overly crushed whites, some distracting auto exposure hunting, some weird sound cuts/glitches and one or two repeated shots. Nothing huge but the kind of small details that the BD team are usually pretty good at avoiding.
@@peterlawrence5114 exactly! What bothered me the most was the long average shot lenth, it makes the video a kinda boring :/
Peter Lawrence there is actually no repeated shots xD but the factor of filming with a lot of equipments made the color grading a bit hard, The length of the video was supposed to be that one actually, appreciate all the feedback xD

Great video and really incredible spot for taking pictures. When we have been there we forgot our SD-card at home- therefore we need to go there again and we cannot wait for it :-)

Some pretty good cinematography and editing. However, i feel the color grading was a little too over the top. Nature and landscapes are best shown with its natural colours with a little bit of added vibrancy/sat/contrast. Though perhaps the look you're going for is a little bit more grungy and dark, still feel its abit off. Nevertheless a fan of B.D since the start and looking forward to the changes and progress this channel has made.

The video is not bad, but i think so Beautiful Destinations" has better content creators.
Always match both the energy of the film and the music. Using such an intense music while two guys are leisurely hiking down a mountain/a guy holding a camera/someone standing at the edge of a cliff just can't obliterate the fact that the action just isn't there. Loud/fast/dramatic music is never the way to compensate for inaction. Ambient music with sound effects would be a better choice.
however this video is unormaly standard, but we support creator to go high and high. Keepin up bro!
great video, but this orange and teal trend needs to stop, really degrades the quality of the video and looks very unnatural. wish the quality of the video was better too. I've been to Praia Da Ursa myself and it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Sadly this video didn't depict it well
