I grew up in Greensboro. Try Durham as well but research Black Wall Street Durham before visiting. Back to Greensboro. It's a college town, used to be known for tobacco too, Newport Cigarettes, some also call it Tourney Town because the NCAA basketball tournament is always played there, most big shows/concerts go to Greensboro. Show tours will go to Raleigh & Greensboro or Charlotte and Greensboro but always Greensboro.
Thank you for highlighting the great things about the ‘Boro. I have lived here for the majority of my life. People give it a bad rap; but it is really a nice city. Great video!
We've noticed as we continue to grow that pretty much every city has a bad rap or bad history, but if you never get out and explore then you'll never find the positives about any of these places. I feel like people just miss out on opportunities living in a bubble.
Nice video. Greensboro is known by a lot of people for its civil rights history. It's a college town with a least 7 in the city limits. Several celebrities have ties to the city, and some would come through just to chill.
Greensboro is one of my favorite cities in the state. Such a unique place, you guys showed us some places we didn’t know were there. Totally agree about the murals in Greensboro, they’re the best!
I went to college in GSO, and yall definitely went to some of my favorite restaurants (Crafted Taco and Scrambled) but also went to some places I never visited (elsewhere)! Next time you are down there I highly recommend trying Dame's Chicken and Waffles and 913 Whiskey Bar, or take a walk at the Tanger Botanical Garden! Keep up the great work 👍🏽
Thank you. Dame's was on our list when we were in Durham, but we opted to go to the food hall instead. Had no clue there was one in Greensboro as well. I do wish we did grab a bit there because the chicken looked so good! We'll have to keep 913 and Tanger Botanical Garden in mind for next time. Thanks for the recommendations!
I’ve lived in Greensboro my whole life, and it’s amazing. The downtown restaurants and shops are great. Lebauer Park is super fun and the Tanger Center is such an amazing place to go see plays. I definitely recommend visiting here, I love seeing the Boro get the attention it deserves!
The Tacos look Great. Oh my gosh so many cats to play with they all look so chilled out. The Distillery seemed really cool. Thank You for taking us along with you xx
The cats were so great. Most were definitely used to people but there were two that were still nervous around. You could really see all of their personalities
Thank you so much for sharing this! I am moving back from Miami South Beach where I lived for 12 years and been wondering what it is going to be like to move back home to NC after 15 years. I want to see places exactly like this that are new and forward-thinking. 🙏🏽
Best bar hands down when I went to visit for about a month for work was a place called Fishers Grille and the pizza shop next door was also top notch. I explored a lot but those two spots where the best imo.
Brevard in the mountains and New Bern on the coast are some pretty awesome smaller towns in the state. Cherokee which is a lot further into the mountains, is amazing as well.
Thanks for the recs. We've been looking at New Bern and Wilmington once it gets warmer. Think we'll have to to do a winter getaway next winter into the Smokey mountains a bit
You guys will love Kingston when you come visit Canada. Similar, small big city with about 140k population but A LOT of history, great places to eat and everything you guys appreciate in your videos.
My dad's family lives in Greensboro, but growing up we mostly ate my grandma's cooking. It's interesting how much it has grown in the last decade. Next time try Yum Yum Ice Creams, best ice cream and hot dogs in Greensboro. My aunt joined in the Woolworth sit in movement.
@@TheDetourDuo did you try Cookout? It's a fast food restaurant that has an actual charcoal grill on the premises. Oh, and Bojangles is another one. They spread to other states, but it was a little southern secret for a minute.
Yes. Forgive me in advance but these are some places I like to go. Wilmington Riverwalk, Battleship NC, Cape Fear Museum of History & Science, Fort Fisher, Bellamy Mansion Museum, Airlie Gardens, NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, Carolina Beach Boardwalk/State Park, Oceanic Restaurant, Block Taco, Britt’s Donuts, Cast Iron Kitchen, Wrightsville Beach Brewery, Waterline Brewing CO, Ceviche’s, Goody Goody Omelette House, Long Leaf Park, Hidden Grounds Coffee, Gerlato and Maven Coffee
Aside from the downtown hardcsape, Greensboro is heavily covered with trees. All seasons are absolutely gorgeous; early/mid spring can be almost overwhelming. Greensboro is close to a climatic fall line; it's significantly more wintry than Charlotte or Raleigh. Charlotte is a good town; I do not care for Raleigh's eastern NC vibe
It has a dark history, but we were only there for a weekend. Didn't have much of an issue while we were walking around. I've honestly felt less safe in parts of VA than I did when we were there. I did notice there is still clear redlining as the lack of economic development in the black neighborhoods is there.
Fantantic observation! Don't let the video fool you. This is still the South. People are always nice to you when you're spending money anywhere you go. People here are clickish, low key envious and can be quite petty. If you don't have the right pedigree or church (this is the Bible belt). Forget it! As far as race realations are concerned, let's just say that you don't travel too many places after dark. The police or the thugs...take your pick! 🤫
Hi there guys, I'm Jade the new subscriber to your channel! It's nice to meet you Tony and Sara, black and white couple, love it. I hope I'll have a fantastic time with you and getting to know each other as well!
You're trying to be too fancy and edgy with the camerawork with all the extreme close-ups and scenes that flash by so fast. In a video like this, you want a sense of the city and the scenery, landscape and lay of the land. Pull back and slow it down some because otherwise, this is a great look.
What other towns and cities would you like us to explore?

You need to travel more young man.

Great job displaying some of the gems in Greensboro...I've been here for 20 yrs.... Next year will be bitter sweet...🥺
Wow. 20 years! How much has it changed since then?
Love this! Looks like such a cool city. Also the cat cafe 😍😍 I'd never heard of cat cafes till I moved to Asia and I loveeee them!
Thank you! I bet the vibe is amazing with cafes in Asia. We're getting there one day

We actually really enjoy Asheville. We did a couple of videos on it!
@@TheDetourDuo Nice I will make sure that watch them.

No. We have cookout and bogangles all over so it wasn't on our list of stops
@@TheDetourDuo good to know they spreading all over. 👍
I just moved back to GSO after living in Dallas for 23 years! So much has changed. I've just been driving around and exploring...
I bet!
Is that good or bad(the changes)? I couldnt really get a good feel of teh area when I visited.
Love this video! You all should go to Wilmington, NC great food and downtown/beach area.

Welcome to the Boro and the Triad you should check out Winston Salem and Lexington that are also in the Triad
Thanks for the recommendation. We had Winston Salem on our list. Didn't know about Lexington though
@@TheDetourDuo Lexington is known for it's BBQ they have a big festival every fall nice little city
Oh we'll have to check out the festival. Can't turn down bbq. The town certainly looks gorgeous from the photos
Chile there is nothing interesting in Lexington. High point is a better choice.
New sub 😊
