- Hawkmount is about 75 miles (120km) North of Sydney (Australia) and was a popular camping/photo location for enthusiasts in the final years of steam, with miles of curving 1 in 44 grades and an abundance of rail traffic. This early morning scene was filmed by the late Bernie Kent.
Great sound from the 59 class loco. Many thanks.
Very welcome, Noddy, glad you enjoyed it.
Sensational footage and sound! Love it! Imagine if we had 4K video & digital DSLRs in those days, eh? However, we’re most grateful that pioneering photographers and videographers of those days had the foresight to record such valuable and unforgettable footage of days long gone, and for that we thank you! Great footage as always from the Belbin clan. Stay healthy.
Regards, Caleb
Thanks Caleb.
Awesome video and sound, thanks for sharing
Thanks, mate.
Wonderful Graeme! :-)
Thanks Terry, I miss it, too.
LOVELY footage!
Thanks Paul.
You do have good videos featuring live sound film of steam. Some of the steamers sound American like with 5 chime whistles on most of them sounding like New York Central or Union Pacific whistles and the American built 59 Class 2-8-2s having the three chime whistles that sound like Southern Railway 4501's whistle. I have a podcast called Revival Steam. This fictional podcast makes listeners imagine a world of 21st-century American Revenue Trains pulled by steam locomotives. I use railroad sounds from Videos, DVDs, CDs, LPs, and cassettes for the podcast. Of course, I would have to ask permission first before using them. I do have a DVD that I bought from you several years ago featuring sound films. I want to ask you if by your permission, can I use the sounds from the DVD to be used in my podcast?
Certainly, Alec, no problem.
Love the vids ♥️

Thanks Ben.
