Thanks for a damn fine rundown. I learned a _lot_. This is better than what the software companies themselves usually put out ... their tutorials tend to put me to sleep because they spend so much time telling you about colors and sounds and other mainly time-wasting over complications of their product. I( hope to get scanning real soon now, thanks again.

thanks for this, man. ive been doing fba for a couple years and decided to head towards a hybrid of both fba and mf. this was a huge help. i was trying to find out of there were profit triggers that would account for both and i thankfully i found your vid. looks like i'll be making the switch to scoutly as well.
No problem!! Unfortunately as media sellers we have to add FBM into the mix but with a streamlined process it's not that bad and I argue in some cases better than FBA!!

Good rundown. I've been using Scoutly for a while, and one thing you may (or may not) want to change for your FBA triggers. Under Target Price, do check the FBA and New offers, but skip the used. This is for the situation where you have only very low used offers, no FBA offers, and a very high new price. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to only have that check happen when the new price is high, so it does require some attention be paid while scanning, but we should be doing that anyway. It can save you from missing some great deals.

Okay, I'm going to go out today and try these exact FBA triggers just to see how they do. The only change is that I've upped all the profit amounts by $2, as I pay at least that much more for books on average it seems than you do.
Definitely raise the profits. I have since changed mine completely.
@@TheUsedBookGuy I did okay first day out with these triggers: # of stops: 5; Items bought: 26 (14 books; 9 DVD's; 2 CD's; 1 Video Game); Total Items Scanned: not sure, but something approaching 1 million; COG: $45.38; Miles: 64; Scoutly Projected Profit: $573. Half the DVD's are new, and so should bring more. Plus, I bought one book that I'm totally restricted on, but SBYB is offering about $53 IF they take it; and, a couple of books that showed only 5 Sales Count, but I took them anyway as they're showing about $25 profit each. Finally, some of the DVD's didn't have a Sales Score, but the rank was within range; so, I bought them anyway.

On the phone settings, I wonder why I don't have the 'Display FBA vs. MF Profit' tab? That option is not listed for me anywhere. Several of my options are either missing or different in fact. New updates? I just installed on June 1, 2023.
Phone settings are tough hop on a PC or desktop mode on browser and edit the trigger that. That should fix it.

This varies from country to country but I would say if you focus on the sales score more than the rank you will be fine. 18 Sales score would be decent I think anywhere as a low point sells 3 times a month.

Books are automatically ungated besides Q4 for new sellers. Once they lift Q4 restrictions anyone that starts an account can sell used books immediately!!

how would you set up triggers for new dvd/cd?
Software cant tell if scanning New or Used so when scanning new make sure to look at the screen and all you have to do is tap over to the New Buy Box to get your projected profit!
@@TheUsedBookGuy I was thinking of setting a separate set of triggers for new items. When I tried to run a new trigger with my used triggers I was getting a buy signal on used items that would be a reject but it said buy off of the new price

Just signed up for Scoutly today did all my triggers like yours in this video through a seller tool website but my triggers are different on the Scoutly app. How do I get the triggers the same?
Ok make sure they are saved most importantly. Sounds like a terrible tech person giving advice but Scoutly makes you save every change. On your dashboard there is a white checkmark in green circle labeled triggers select that. Then you will see a Use Trigger and thats where you can choose what trigger set you want to use from the drop down menu. ALSO MAKE sure you hit DOWNLOAD on that page so it downloads your trigger set!!

I totally agree that not looking at 1M + rank books is a mistake. There are tons of gems in the 1-3M rank region.

@@TheUsedBookGuy considering that the book category contains over 90 million book listings, a 3M rank is actually pretty good!
4.5 million is only the top 5% of the book category.

These are pretty close to what I use nowadays so I still think it is a good starting point!! In January I will be dropping a 2024 trigger set video so be on the lookout!!

Can scan anything but it won't give you as much information if you just use the AMZ seller app!!

I wish there was an easy answer. I would focus on sales score more than rank in other countries. You want things that are going to sell!!

@user-yi6ii4cn8c Basically you would want 1 trigger 1-6,000,000 with a sales score of 6 (Sells Once A Month). Set the profit to what you are comfortable making.

For your last triggers, there's a plus sign. Is that because you are editing those to "reject" in the 7. Trigger Effect?
Yep!! So you will never hit those requirements so everything in that rank parameter will be a reject all the time!!
The + seems to come from one of the checkboxes in section #1 in the triggers. Can you explain which one? THANKS!!

Thank you for the video! How do you determine the "FBA Inbound Cost per LB?"
How much they charge when you ship items in. For example I shipped in a box this weekend it was 49 pounds cost $10.41 to ship it in so roughly 22 cents a pound. For media 30 cents per pound is a good estimate in my opinion!!

With your profit thresholds that low for the higher sales ranks you don't find you're picking up far too many books that don't end up bringing you in much profit?

Tbh it's good to pick up books that have one sale count for 1 as long as it is not over 4 million and you can be the only offer
Just from my experience
The power of being the only offer in fba
But remember to always maintain the lowest price on such units
Which means consistantly repricing since your constantly being undercut by Auto systems

Yep but as LTS and new restock limit requirements it just doesn't fit FBA anymore in my opinion. I got a feeling these restock limits are not going to be like previous years, a lot less.

Scoutly crashed my phone and forced it to factory settings while scanning books, 2 separate times. I lost everything on my phone. I was forced to go with a different scanner app that cost more money. On top of that, it happened 3 days after the trial was up and I was charged. Since I switched apps, it's never happened again. I scan about 500 books a day at used book stores and thrift stores.
Thats crazy!! I would be so PISSED!! I dont blame you stick to what works who cares what anybody else is using!!

I use scanlister. Scoutly does offer turbolister with subscription but I am not a fan.

Found your site this week and have been binging on it and subscribed to it Great advice all around, esp the recent estate sale play. We are starting small and testing. Thus we will sign up for ScoutIQ Live only for costs and to prove concept. Scanlister is our choice for listing. Still trying to decide on a repricing software, if you have any reco's. And scratching our heads re what all the other softwares provide (SellerAmp, Helium10, etc.). Actually, a video explaining the various tools and what they do and what a newbie should start w and what you upgrade to as you hit certain levels...that would be a popular vid indeed! Do you know how variation listings work on eBay? Should the variations be the title?
The few I have done for trading cards would do the name of the set as the title and than each card inside had its own name title.

Mike I see that Scoutly comes with Turbo Lister included. Have you started using it to send in your FBA items? If so can you make a Turbo Lister set up and walkthrough tutorial?
I have not tried turbolister it is on my to do list when the time comes I definitely will have a video!!
He said in the video when talking about the listing integration function that he doesn't use "their software" so I would assume that means Turbo Lister?

@@TheUsedBookGuy I've always used ScanLister. Never tried TurboLister, BUT the FB group is continually FULL of people encountering glitches and problems with it. Seems about ten times as complicated as SL, just from the outside looking in.

Switched over to Scoutly. As you can see Scoutly allows MF and FBA profits to be shown on screen when scanning. As LTS continues to shrink more items will need to go MF. Not having to double scan like I use to on ScoutIQ saves me a lot of time and effort.
Could these triggers apply to Canada as well or would the sales rank and escore be different ?
Rank and escore would be a lot different. We have a few Canadian media sellers in the discord and I believe you want to go for much lower ranked items in CA.

Depends on your business right more isnt always better. For me the big thing is seeing the FBA/MF profit because previously I had to double scan every item. I also like the Database+Live if Buy operating mode so it will automatically check all of the accepts.

Do you have to hook scoutly to your Amazon account?
No but you should so when it tells you that you are restricted it is pulling from your account information.
If you click on the profit calculator that breaks all the fees down there is a spot where it estimates how long the book will be in storage. Do you pay attention to that? I have it set to “Estimate”. Do you ignore books that show a long storage time? Thanks!
Yes as the removal fees have doubled LTS plus removal=no profits!!

How do you set a trigger for “only new FBA”?
You can have the ignore new offers box unchecked in your trigger settings, I believe this will take those into consideration if you have it set up that way.
@@TheUsedBookGuy I have it set up that way, but it still triggers based off “used FBA” first. Not sure if thats a glitch because it doesn’t make any sense.
@@Uskdr97 Ok I figured it out I believe you want to have Skip FBA Offer to compare & Skip Used offer to compare. New offer offer to compared set to 1!! Let me know if that works!!
@@TheUsedBookGuy the problem with that is “New offer” is merchant, not FBA. So if I do that, it skips FBA all together and only reads “new MF”

@@TheUsedBookGuy I'd probably have to drive a total of a thousand miles and hit every store in my area multiple times in order to consistently find enough $6-$8 minimum profit books to fill up a box. Nothing but total junk in nearly all my sources now.
@@GoldAndSilver988 Crazy times we are living. I am actually surprised at how much I have been finding at higher profit targets. That being said you are correct some areas just don't have the quality of items unfortunately and it puts you in a tough spot. Just have to crank out thousands of the lower profit items to keep up.
Venting: Sold a Lego set on Amazon... 4.99 shipping credit, cost 9.00 to ship... What the.....!! And it wasn't a big set... be worse for bigger set. Have you ever added in your own shipping fees?
You definitely can have a different template for heavier items that you can use. I sell only media mostly so never had to.
