    Algorithm moment! This is a really solid first steps type of video. As a fellow Ambient composer, one of the biggest lessons I've learned is that there's always something new to discover. Never shy away from using all kinds of wacky sounds as the basis for your composition. Manipulation is key. Happy Ambient-ing! ♥

    I'm at my beginning of this journey of making music again. Did some in my early 20's and now wanted to start again in my early 50's. A lot has changed!! Especially when it comes to DAWs, the choices in instruments, plugins etc..
    This video was PERFECT for me in the fact that you showed me how to I start again by keeping it simple. Wonderful stuff.
    This channel keeps on giving and thank you Chris for everything you do. I love your content and approach. ❤

    Thank you once again Chris. Great work!! You did a video for beginners a couple of years ago where you kinda fleshed out an arrangement but told us to delete random notes so that no 4 bars were the same and I cant find that tutorial video. It was so helpful. If you read this and you have a spare moment could you please link me to that video, as it was genuinely one of the most insightful and informative for me personally as it helped things just click into place and it was so nice to escape the elusive 8 bar loop

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  8 місяців тому +1

      I don't remember what video that was exactly but I do use the "8 bar" or "4 bar" rule often. The basic premise is you force yourself to change SOMETHING in your track every 4 or 8 bars. Whether that's adding new parts or taking things out thereby keeping your track fresh and always in motion. Hope that helps you!

    Is it mid tempo or slower one?

    • @s1gns0fl1fe

      Anywhere between 65-85 bpm is good for ambient!

      @@s1gns0fl1fe Thank you so much, it really does. So many little things to learn. When I have the time, I will follow along with this stream to get a feel for how everything works. The more you do the more 2nd nature things become. When my boy starts nursery school, there'll be a bit more time to experiment, haha.

    Do you have a favorite bar length for ambiebt music?
    Because I come from Rap/HipHop beats and you know fore sure, most of it has 8 bars 😂 But I think this could be a little bit short and to repetitive for ambiebt stuff.
    Good videos btw

    How to download Utility template. I follow the link and then I am lost. I have to pay for Utility album and then I will receive Ableton template?

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  5 місяців тому

      The album includes a .zip file which contains the Utility template. Bandcamp is just the delivery platform. From the liner notes of the album: "In addition to the demo track, a .zip file including a new Ableton Live Template Project, Presets and Documentation will be included with your download." Hope that helps!

    As an absolute beginner, this is wayy too complex for my current comprehension. I just made the decision to start learning how to make ambient music. I have absolute 0 experience in any music making, and so far I understand that with no music knowledge at all it's gonna be a long way to being able to materialize expressions in form of ambient. But i'm here for it.
    If anyone has any advice on what I should begin studying, please reply. My equipment is a Macbook. So anything that is doable from this. Like I said, So far I have the DAW ableton, and valhalla. I've been learning to navigate ableton since that is the center of everything.

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  7 місяців тому +1

      With Ableton you've got all the sounds and effects you'll ever need. My advice would be to start at the beginning and learn what a synthesizer is, what an envelope is, what effects are and what they can do, and then start experimenting with presets inside of Ableton. You can't go wrong when every direction is the right one. Don't give up and just keep learning. You'll eventually get there...
