- Ajahn Brahm shares what he really wants in life. He wants the beautiful sense of peace, friendship, kindness, contentment, respect, acceptance and love. Isn't that what you want?
in one of your videos you said that what you wanted was to save even one persons life - i am sure you have saved lots already ; but i wanted to say i’ve been listening to you for a year now and i’m nearly 21 - i often feel confused and anxious about the changing world and my future and my friends and relationships- but ever since i found you, my mental health has improved so much. I feel like you have saved my life - in more ways than you will ever know.
Thank you 🍀
Thank you Ajahn Brahm.
What a great teacher are you!!❤
I am so happy that there is UA-cam and that I have the opportunity to watch these videos...amazing!
I remember an old story someone told me, that this really reminds me of. Two monks are talking about their masters. The first says, "my teacher could do such amazing things. He walked on fire, he could read people's minds, and could meditate on water to make it boil." The other said, "my teacher does amazing things. When he eats, he eats. When he sleeps, he sleeps."
@Liamthegreat2008 Brilliant👌😂🤣
“When you want something more, you can’t enjoy what you already have.” So true. Thank you Ajahn Brahm.
I was feeling so nervous, feeling some kind of longing, a craving for god knows what. Then I remembered him. His voice filled me with such bliss and I felt goosebumps all over
very wise talking. I am so addicted to his talkings...
Makes alot of us. I watch him several times a day and to sleep...
@Geoffrey Adebonojo 🤣
@Geoffrey Adebonojo I see what you did there😂🤣
I haven’t a CLUE to what I want in life. I say “I just want to be happy.” .... But that becomes a web in itself. I’ve been listening to AB for almost ten years now and I’m still confused as to what I want. I want to be a kinder person and I haven’t been. When I see how unkind I am to others, it shows how unkind I really am towards myself. So, I am working more on being kinder to myself.
you only have a problem if you have a goal... if you dont know what you want that basically means you dont have a problem but you want a problems so your goal is to find something that you want xD
Whatever I want in life is already in me!
@@videnz2664that's so cool what you said there I love it
@Lord Byron it is not a linear nor a quick journey😔, it takes quite a while for most ppl. to realise 'What Do They Want?' from life.
I can relate to your 'want' in life as I'm asking myself the same question too🙌.
Hope you find what you're looking for🙏😌
That's a beautiful talk. Thank you, Ajahn.
I will be like Ajahn Brahm and meditate for 45 years
Watching your videos is so calming, the message, the wisdom, even the voice just relaxes me. Thank you
I just love the stories he tells...
Really one of the best talks by Ajahn Brahm, and let me tell you, I have listened to quite a few. Sometimes betwixt the oldies but goodies, he really does seem to get a special inspiration, and this talk is an example of this. What do you really want? See this video to find the answer!
Wonderful talk, thanks Ajahn Brahm.
Love Ajahn's own experience of the 'chain of desire' with regards to a donation🤣😂. Matches up nicely with the story of the Buddhist nun and the mouse.
Another one of my favourites, for sure👌😌. Thank you Ajahn Brahm and BSWA❤🙏🙏🙏
thank you Ajahn Brahm !!!!
Thank you for your teaching. Your talks help me through life. I feel blessed ❤
Thank you to Ajahn Brahm! 🏃🏽♂️
Thank you so much 🙏
On this day Feb 01 2023, I benefited much from this. Thank you Bhante. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for your wisdom Ajahn Brahm.
another powerfull lifechanging lesson.. thx Ajahn!!!
thank you 🙏- i am much conflicted over my career path, I’ve always been told to pursue a career in health to help people through medicine. But i’ve always found my passions lie in the more arts side - i’m more interested in the human psyche in philosophy and even psychology- i think what i’d love to do is become a writer but also a high school teacher and maybe even work as a psychologist in a school - but i don’t know how to make my parents see that even though i haven’t got it all figured out i still know the direction i want to head in and it’s not working as a doctor in a busy hospital
Thank you Ajahn Brahm..
Thank you, that was what I wanted.
Thank you . I bow to you. The talk touch my emotion or hearth. Thank you.
I found this talk very helpful. I will listen to it again.
thank you to whom ever posted this video ..
you are a very wise and funny monk. I love listening to you, too bad you are on the other side of the world. I wish you luck and much success in your monastic endeavours
Thanks Ahjan 🙏
I've been watching a lot of ur channels videos sense I've found this channel. I'd just like to thank you for what you do. I have been thinking a lot about what I want from life. the more I think the more I wanna become a monk xD. I play a lot of survival video games which is normally player vs player taking what they want and leaving the other with nothing. instead I play completly peaceful. giving away anything I have the others may need. teaching other how to survive. giving them a safe place to start before going off on their own and such. I guess u could call me an uncertified video game monk xD
legend a very kind wise and funny guy!!!!!!!!
When my Mind is peaceful, content, tranquil, quiet and still, there’s no wanting .... No Delusion! The question “What do I want?” Doesn’t arise. So the goal is to get to Stillness.

There is no goal Lord Byron! You’re already there. Whatever it is you are searching for is there ….. in you !
I used to think I really want success and action in life when was younger.
Then much later, I realized that I really wanted and enjoyed peace of mind and security. Had I known that, I would have made different decisions and taken different paths in my life.
Peace is a wonderful thing. Namaste. :)
Robert Frost - the road less traveled...I love the poem and its meaning. The teachings you present are intellectually fulfilling - my ultimate want in life. I've been searching for meaning all of my life and your lessons satisfy my ends. Thank you.
Very profound sessions, would mean more when put to practice.
It is very good for all to listen and comment:nice, beautiful. But His effort and inspirational talks need to be taken to the next level.
what a fantastic talk. thank you so much.
woww! thank you very much!!
What I really want is a peace of mind. Don't we all?
Richest man in the cemetery lol, so true. One can spend his whole life chasing money, then die before he finds out what he really wants..
im very adicted to his talking!!yay
Thank you so much.
Ahhh sigh of relief...thank you...
Thank you
i love it!.....peace & one love.
Thank you 🙏🏼😊
I know “ there’s no happiness in the world “ .... but why do I keep looking, searching for it and hoping that I’ll find it ? It’s maddening.
Happiness isn’t out there Lord Byron, it’s in you! N
omg!! so relatable and true. when i am in really hard situation internally, i came to realize what i really want and then realizing how much unrealistics wants and expectations i had.
I read in the news about a family that had 17 billion. They were all suing each other. 17 billion was not enough for them.
thanks a lot, these talks are really helpful to me
very nice, thank you.
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🙏🏼💓🙏🏼
I love all of your talks, but I especially enjoyed this one. See, my name is "Genie" (though spelled differently), Thank you for making me smile. I hope that I made you smile too. That is what I really want. :D
I would wish for wisdom, selflessness and good leadership if I had 3 wishes.
never mind I am happy with what I have I got a head of the talk .what a wise man
謝謝阿姜
All of these are good
What do I really want? My time here. That's what I really want. :)
Sadhu Sadhu SADHUUUUUUUUUU ❤️
Please fix the audio. Too low. But another beautiful talk by Ajahn Brahm. Life-changing as always.
This was posted 4 years ago, but hey. Why not comment. I understand what you mean. At the same time, it is ironic that it is posted on a "What do you want" talk! Lol Just made me chuckle. Be well. :)
I've been telling my kids these messages: there's no end to their desire for Legos!
That could be a factor, however I also want them to learn that desire for anything can be endless, and will never be satisfied.
i find that relationships are important but for many ppl, goals and achievement mean a lot to them.
Please increase the volume on these recordings. Hard to hear. Thank you.
To those who have problems with the audio: I the teachings get audible once you cut off the low tones (check your audio settings or subwoofer, in case u use some sort of speaker system) greetz
It's all very well, but if all I want is peace (not just for me, but for other people as well) and a Jin would ask me if I have any wishes I would wish peace for everyone.
Sir your this video is really good. But there is a volume problem. The volume is very low.So I request youtube to enhance the volume.Please.
Same here, Yaiyasmin! :))
Can not hear this
Why did Peter Betts change his name to "Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathera"?
Because that is what he wants..🙂
hi.. is there any chance to have the record with better audio ? increased all my volume but can hardly hear the teaching.
He is amazing, like him a lot! Hope to see him in Hungary or in Europe!!!. But we also have a great teacher, his name is László Mireisz teacher of a A Tan Kapuja Buddhism school. Check this if you speak Hungarian :-)x

Ajahn Brahm is a hit with the chicks. See above.
Sure yeah right is that all you want... you're not asking for much.. finarrr finarr... and who knows you might even convince me you can maintain this enlighted state. For 15 minutes at least.
Except in real life NOBODY follows a good example (such as thief from the story). I know a person that has been nothing but extremely kind to everybody, even to the meanest people on this planet, but guess what? - Nobody ever followed that example NOR wanted to know the 'secret' (to being kind and generous) and instead they just took advantage of that person over and over and over again! ...So yeah...stories are nice but they are just stories...We can choose to be nice but the only people that will follow our example are the people that are already nice themselves, everybody else will just take advantage and it will never be enough...nor they will ever feel sorry, they will just think we are being 'stupid' for letting them get away with it...If it wasn't like that, these smart monks would be living among the rest of us and not far, far away with all those restrictions , so they get no influence whatsoever from the 'garbage society'...
Luna L you are missing his point, these stories are not for thieves, they are for us, readers. My understanding is that they would help us to choose to water the flowers instead of weeds. Getting even, trying to find justice, getting righteous, feeling like a victim is something I would focus in past too. We don't choose to be kind with the condition to see results. We choose to be kind with no means to an end. I understand where you are coming from. I've drummed the same drum most of my life until I had to give a chance to a different perspective. Suffering brought me to an end. I was able to hear my complaining as meaningless noise that disturbs peace within me and around me too :-) finding that quiet place( One might call it meditation, non-thinking, nonjudgmental state ...) within myself has brought understanding of all of this. These similes are much more digestible than any doctrine. You have a choice to water weeds or flowers.
Thank You for your post! I came to the same realization since my post above (10 months ago)!
It took lot of work and patience (&lot of suffering too), but it was worth it! I get it now:)
I beg to differ. Ajahn Brahm's talks are for all of us. they are for thieves thugs villians and rogues. research the work of Buddhist monks in prisons around the world
That is nice Luna L. Glad you posted your update.
If you care enough you won't mind being exploited anymore. In fact, if you care enough you will become invulnerable to any kind of abuse people can infict on you. And you will be very happy when you can do this.
Thank you Ajahn Brahm
