Michael's music has turned my life around so many times. And again just yesterday. His music is truly profound, and fills me with the holy spirit when I hear it. Thank you Lord for a man that would touch so many others so deeply throughout his whole life :)
He is not the same from his first records. Your rock style come down and your lyrics changes too. He knows what happens. Maybe the ages, maybe his needs to sale records. But there is a Michael different now vs.when Michael start.
Yeah, the difference is that he now sings more for the lord than he did when he started out. He went "contemporary" for a while and now he is back singing more worship than anything else. If you meant the opposite, than you're not listening to his new stuff.
What's wrong with having an Idol in the form of a good christian musician like Michael W. Smith? Perhaps you would prefer people idolize artists like: Cradle of Filth: /watch?v=iKxWkpnzIO4 Necrophagia: /watch?v=OgYb1F90R08 Deicide: /watch?v=QEKbLsdApVY ...but a scant handful of the bands most people idolize, including myself if not for the saving heavenly grace of God-gifted artists like Michael W Smith et al. The masses will obsess over somebody, why not W Smith, for the few who know his music?
I do not believe in God but his song PLACE IN THIS WORLD is very uplifting. It was a crossover pop hit as well as contemporary Christian hit. He sounds a bit like Richard Marx on that song.
By the time he released Go West Young Man, I think he had developed his own, unique style. The way he’d go into crescendo on so many of his songs makes me think of Barry Manalow, personally.
