      Yes. Debt is pronounced d-short e-t and that is pronounced TH-short a-t. The TH is that needs to have air moving out of the mouth. It also has an open, short a as in the word DAD above. Hope this helps!

    A question of technicality here! I keep coming back to this video because of the EH sound in DEAD! So every time I do a pure EH sound (assuming I have perfected my EH sound), it doesn’t sound exactly like when you said it. So I guess my question is: in the stressed version of the word, do you follow that with a schwa right before you make the D sound?
    Please I’ve been fixated about this small, little detail and haven’t got a good answer to.
    Also a list of words that seem to have that sound (schwa or whatever) when they’re stressed: bed, said, pen, ten, pin, plus words you’ve already listed in this video
    Thank you so much

    • @tarlespeech
      @tarlespeech  4 роки тому +1

      Maybe our EH sounds are slightly different? Not wrong but a little different.
      It’s not a schwa nor do I make a schwa before it. When a word is unstressed it will sound shorter and when stressed slightly longer.
      You can message me a recording on Instagram or Facebook and I can give you feedback if you want. @tarlespeech

      I was having difficulty saying the word "pattern". Once I watched your video on it, boom I was able to say it like a native speaker after a little bit of practice. I was very encouraged. After that, I saw all of your videos and they really helped me improve my accent.
