The Sony Clie is running a heavily modified version of Palm OS with it's own launcher, so it's not actually a standard Palm OS interface, nor does it come with the normal Palm default apps, I don't think. The Clie's had more multimedia functionality compared to other Palm devices and some even had custom chips to support better screens, multimedia capabilities, I believe. I had a Clie at one point, not one of these in the video, but a much cheaper one lol. Loved it.

Yes! They had graphic acceleration for upscaling on the hires+ line. Sony modified each of the pim apps. Their nz90 was a wild piece of tech.

Mobile Linux was very limited and primitive back then. Very stripped down with limited support, and everyone was making their own cpu and kernels. It was Palm vs Windows Mobile, and Palm OS was killing it. Even today mobile Linux is behind, even when compared to iOS. Android is its own beast that cameout of nowhere and killed off the 2 established titans of old.
I'd recommend checking out Maemo on the Nokia internet tablets if you want a more functional mobile linux. It was the only competitor to android at the beginning and predates it, but it was Nokia's baby.
