What's also fascinating about this episode is that it aired on mother's day, and its an episode about a mother. Did production deliberately planned months in advance to exactly air on that date? if so that's really impressive

Really doubt it’s just bait. We just need more time to develop. Only at the halfway point of the season.
Personally, I found it refreshing that the characters were able to talk out the peck on the cheek in a mature and realistic way, rather than going full anime OTT b-b-baka. Loved the episode,so glad someone is still talking about it (all I am seeing these days is endless MT reactions). Also Marhiru playing the trangle was too cute

I like to think that Doga Kobo was so sad about Ai that they decided to make an entire original series to include this episode where the idol stays for her kid and mixed in a bit of Mem-cho to the mix.
She knew who Jelee was because they were the ones who ripped her poster off the wall in her outside concert.
Just like one vtuber pirate said "the age of 30 is in demand", maybe there is a niche for wholesome hag idol.
Shizue's story is somehow similar to the life of a Japanese idol named Fujisaki Nagi, who went out last year (The same year Oshi no Ko aired) to tell the world that she's a single mom of two, which was met with praises from fans. And yes, she's also a cutie.
I don't think it is a bait though. If done right, I'd much rather they make it more organic and unforced instead of suddenly shifting to yuri/GL after almost half of the season aired... let the show's characters thrive and suck you in instead of shoving "girl A is confused of these feelings she feels for girl B" right in front of your face.
Then again, the reason why I love these anime original shows is that none of us know where the writers will take the series. The few episodes we've seen so far have been great, and I can't wait to continue on this wild journey.

There's no way this is bait. I'm pretty confident because of (see below, it's not necessarily a spoiler, but part of the first pvs released for the show)
In one of the early pvs, which were made in the style of live-action of old 90s retro videos, there was a scene of Kano drawing a symbol in the sand which resembled the japanese love umbrella, with both their names under it and presumably Mahiru holding the camera while filiming her doing so.

I did not have a good impression of the mom from first episode but they managed to turn that around in 1 episode.
She may be too old to be an idol but… the MILF vtuber is a very successful niche 😗
I freakin love the animation style of this anime. It’s absolutely breathtaking!
I liked this episode, but when I think about it I think it highlights some reasons why I liked the other episodes less.
Even so, this episode was strange. It started showing that Kano probably was hit with a creative block, but immediately it was forgotten. I understand, it's just setting up a situation for the next episodes. What I don't understand is, Miiko asked JEELE to create something for her in two weeks. The girls spend a day with Miiko to get to know her and get inspiration. Them suddenly it's the day of her show... what happened? It skipped the two weeks where a lot could had happened. What happened with Kano's block? Did it get in the way? Did the girls even agreed to create something to Miiko? Did they actually did it? It's like half the episode is missing. The episode was a lot of fun but still had to ignore.
I'm getting tired and annoyed with myself for constantly thinking about this, but how not? This is another case that makes me wish anime could be free from the 22 minute limitation, streaming allows for flexible episode length and scripts would be improved a lot by it.
Man, these two last episodes were good.
The peck on the cheek... I ship it; probably not going anywhere (like in Euphonium with their platonic love).
