I was at this concert! It was the best concert of my life. Seeing the whole stage doing their thing is 1000% more theatrical than what u see captured on this video. the theatrics are insane live. If u ever get the chance i would absolutely see them live. They also introduced Twin Temple (let me tell you about theatrics holy shit lmao) to me and that was insane.
They came such a long way. From being opening act and playing in small venues to selling out big arenas for more than 10 thousand people all across the world. Really happy for them, hope they grow bigger and bigger, so much deserved.
I saw them at Webster hall in NYC in 2011. They were spectacular. Opus really knocked me and my friends for a loop. I've been a huge fan ever since, although I wish they still made more doom metal stuff, and less arena rock. In any case I'm psyched for their success. Well deserved

This is the tastiest lead guitarist Ghost has EVER HAD! This song and his effortless playing on Call Me Little Sunshine on the Kimmel show was FABULOUS! Playing a Strat with Hot Rails not a Gibson RD is interesting too!
Hot rails are very interesting to me. I hand built a Frankenstein Telecaster for myself, with Strat belly and forearm cuts, hot rails for both pickups in the classic Tele configuration, and a Gibson Les Paul switch. IMO, it takes some of the best stuff from all three guitars and puts them all together. At least for me, it’s the best of all three worlds.🤘🏻
@@Daddy53751 Price and Constructor matter a LOT LESS then having a Guitar that you feel is an extension of your Musical tastes and abilities. I've never seen Stevie Ray or Eddie or Satriani where it looked like they were fighting their Guitar! I just got a PRS SE Custom 24-08 and it has a thinner neck - like I prefer. It's got Dual Humbuckers that can be individually split via 2 toggle switches neatly placed between the Volume and Tone Knobs - it's quite versatile which I prefer. And it is strung with 9-42s ' it's set up for the Gauge that I prefer. Got it Brand New w/Gig Bag for $767.xx that's with delivery and Tax. I figured I don't really need it to be American Made when the Factory it's made at has a VERY good reputation for making solid Guitars plus PRS does demand a certain level of quality as well. It's easily on par with the Korean Made SE Custom 24 I have. I just can't justify another 2k when I took a leap on this Guitar. Not a great leap I have the SE Custom 24 and a Torero Model and PRS' SE line are good quality discount priced Guitars! Plus like I said I saw the specs were all to my liking!
The youtube video doesn't really give enough credit to actually seeing this live. The mixing of the guitars live is visceral and the lightshow fits perfectly with the theme

Touch of Metallica, Judas Priest, maybe a smidgen of old Scorpions stuff, UFO, Meatloaf, Styx ....there's more in there I'll find it. My 57 year old brain isn't as fast as it used to be. And their theatrics are fun to watch.
My 54 years old brain discovered them yesterday evening at the accord arena in Paris, because my 16 years old daughter asked me to go to this concert with her! Man what a moment!!!

I heard this in an army surplus store on hollywood blvd in 2015 and was like.. what tune is that.. remembered the lyrics and googled it. i get such nostalgia from this dark masterpiece

The Batman costume has got to go. The ghouls helmets are no good either. I much prefer the classier early style like when they opened for Maiden. With the spats and the plain silver ghoul masks with no mouth opening. That’s just me though. They still put on a great show.

Exactly! This version is sloppy. Guitarists fumbled multiple times. Pianist couldn’t get the right timing on the keyboard lead at the end of the solo. Not the same energy without those important notes being played correctly. I can play all those parts better honestly.

Perhaps, like me, you look at it from a musician/songwriter/entertainer sort of lens (not sure if you are or have been) so there is no denying that Tobias has taken this incarnation and continued to keep them relevant from a business point of view (it's the music business after all) however, I was not a Ghost fan when they first appeared in...what, 2010? I "found" them surfing UA-cam one day around 2012 and even then, it took me awhile to warm up to them except that what struck me immediately was the "It" factor those guys had on stage, their individual presence, the musicianship, and the songwriting wasn't adding to the visual, the visual was adding to the songs. I am of the opinion that Ghost has gone the way of Kiss: original/founding member(s) coupled with guys that came after their prime except that Kiss rode at least 2 different waves of music industry landscape changes whereas the rock landscape now is fairly set in the U.S. currently. I will say, I do like Little Sunshine even though there is a tell-tale "typical new-era Ghost" pattern in "You will never walk alone..." that nevertheless, works. Well...out of all the Ghost songs I've heard, this is the one I hate the least. I think the reason is the cool Metallica sounding riff so I'll probably just go and listen to some more Metallica. I tried Ghost, they're just not for me.
@Nummer_Zes Look at the size of the venues Ghost is playing. They have cleaned up the visuals to make it more digestible to a more mainstream audience that is much broader today than it was even a couple of albums ago. More generic cartoonish versus outright occult/satanic/religious. Tobias is doing a great job of manage the business of Ghost. I totally get why he's tweaked the vibe of the live show. That said, I prefer the old look of the ghouls as well as the full on Papa pope robe get up.
@@dankourny There was a magic to the first few eras of the band that can't be replicated. The music is too good for them to keep playing smaller clubs. As long as the music stays rocking, I am on board with whatever the look is.
I just cannot understand the love for this band. Until last year I’d never even heard of them. This performance has the energy and electricity of a wet teabag. No offence meant and good luck to them and taste is subjective, I get that, but really? Jeez, gimme the chili peppers, maiden, foo’s, ‘tallica…those guys bring the excitement love every time.
It's kinda hard to explain... it's not so much a concert as a theatric performance, if that makes sense, and this isn't a song that leads itself to high energy. Go look up some live videos of Monstrance Clock and Rats... I think you'll see what I mean.
Yeah, this isn't really a song I would describe as being "electric". I guess Square Hammer or Rats would fit that description better. I like this song for being sort of a ballad with some metal elements.
I get you. I wouldn’t judge the whole band by this one performance. They look and sound tired here. Maybe they were having a bad night. Also, I don’t think the new costumes suit them at all. I’ve seen a lot of entire Ghost concerts on UA-cam where the energy and performance were amazing. I don’t think any other bands are writing songs at this level of quality right now.

@@Admiral_John thank you and to the others for the replies. I tried, I really tried. I watched 4 versions of Rats live but it’s just so….lame. I’m honestly not hating and I know loads of folk would hate the bands I like, but I just see a bunch of generic backing musicians who are clearly non-descript, replaceable session guys, plus a lead singer with minimal charisma and a bunch of largely forgettable tunes. Ah well, it’s all subjective and if others like ‘em, fair play. At least it’s music with guitars and that’s a good thing.
@@pollachannel2804 It's really not metal in the traditional sense though, but here is the thing: Tobias has said himself that Ghost is not a metal band, it's a band that spans genres, including mixing different genres. Don't know why everyone assumes that every Ghost song has to be metal.

The ghouls look lame IMO. They look like something out of StarWars or some other shitty SciFi movie.
@Nummer_Zes Look at the size of the venues Ghost is playing. They have cleaned up the visuals to make it more digestible to a more mainstream audience that is much broader today than it was even a couple of albums ago. More generic cartoonish versus outright occult/satanic/religious. Tobias is doing a great job of manage the business of Ghost. I totally get why he's tweaked the vibe of the live show. That said, I prefer the old look of the ghouls as well as the full on Papa pope robe get up.
In the end Ghost will evolve whilst you stay locked in your room.
I get the change as far as a business standpoint. I just don't like their new style. But hey, if they make money more power to them.
@@dankourny There was a magic to the first few eras of the band that can't be replicated. The music is too good for them to keep playing smaller clubs. As long as the music stays rocking, I am on board with whatever the look is.

I just cannot understand the love for this band. Until last year I’d never even heard of them. This performance has the energy and electricity of a wet teabag. No offence meant and good luck to them and taste is subjective, I get that, but really? Jeez, gimme the chili peppers, maiden, foo’s, ‘tallica…those guys bring the excitement love every time.
It's kinda hard to explain... it's not so much a concert as a theatric performance, if that makes sense, and this isn't a song that leads itself to high energy.
Go look up some live videos of Monstrance Clock and Rats... I think you'll see what I mean.
Yeah, this isn't really a song I would describe as being "electric". I guess Square Hammer or Rats would fit that description better. I like this song for being sort of a ballad with some metal elements.
I get you. I wouldn’t judge the whole band by this one performance. They look and sound tired here. Maybe they were having a bad night. Also, I don’t think the new costumes suit them at all. I’ve seen a lot of entire Ghost concerts on UA-cam where the energy and performance were amazing. I don’t think any other bands are writing songs at this level of quality right now.
@@kevinsturges6957 The costumes make sense in the context of the album. It's supposed to be hundreds of years into the future, probably a dystopian kind of setting where you see the fall of a big empire.
@@Admiral_John thank you and to the others for the replies. I tried, I really tried. I watched 4 versions of Rats live but it’s just so….lame. I’m honestly not hating and I know loads of folk would hate the bands I like, but I just see a bunch of generic backing musicians who are clearly non-descript, replaceable session guys, plus a lead singer with minimal charisma and a bunch of largely forgettable tunes. Ah well, it’s all subjective and if others like ‘em, fair play. At least it’s music with guitars and that’s a good thing.

@@pollachannel2804 It's really not metal in the traditional sense though, but here is the thing: Tobias has said himself that Ghost is not a metal band, it's a band that spans genres, including mixing different genres. Don't know why everyone assumes that every Ghost song has to be metal.
