Gather round, boys and... BOYS?! That's right. No girls allowed, because we're watching the 2016 "horror" movie THE BOY! And by we, I mean myself and a very special guest... my good buddy Jared McMullin, host of Late Night Webshow and retired prank caller!
Jared told me he had this movie in mind for us to watch and honestly it has everything: spooky little wooden boys, an actress attempting to break from TV into movies, and an insane twist that practically knocked me to the floor. Enboy! (Not a typo.)

It's the real brahm's that comes out of the mirror, his face covered with a porcelain mask the same as the doll, because his face was severely burnt 20 years ago. He survived the fire and had been living behind the walls since then. He didn't go to school, he didn't do anything so he still acts like an 8 year old, that's why the rules were to leave food out on the table and not throw it away, and read extra loud when reading a book so that Brahm's could hear the story. It then turns out that the Heelshire's had committed suicide and had left Greta as a "mate" for Brahm's.
But pretty much right after the part were they cut it off Brahm's emerges, kills Cole, threatens to kill Malcolm if Greta leaves, and then a whole thingo ensues and shit goes down then Greta escapes, but comes back to save Malcolm, then she stabs Brahm's with a screwdriver, and they think he's dead then they leave but then there's a scene where it shows Brahm's survived and he's putting the Porcelain doll back together.
@@katielicheni9451 It's on Netflix and the part where they cut is only about 20-25min before the end, so might be worth watching the last bit. In addition to what Moosedraw said, you don't really get the full creep factor unless you see that Brahms is a 20-something year old man with a neckbeard acting like a murderous child while whispering in a high-pitched kid voice.

The parents knew the whole time that their 30 year old child was living in the walls. They were terrified of him and duped the babysitter into getting stuck with him, while they ran off planning never to return.

Not really. Brahams had major mental problems and was trying to kill the girl who was taking care of the doll. Phantom was a love story that had some PTSD and violent intent towards a rival suitor, which stands apart from the psychopathic child that is Brahams.

is there a way to retroactively thank you for posting all your videos? these commentary videos (and the few tracks ive listened to fully) have been a something of a stabilizing agent in a turbulent time in my early 20s through the pandemic and all. i revisit your classics dozens of times and never grow tired of them. you’ve done my fav movies and shows (the social network, final destination, saw, etc.) and my least favorites (most recently far from home) and yet every video makes me laugh and brings me joy. so thanks for that. not a lot of channels have that due to my attention span but your shit is so good, my autistic brain just latches on and never lets go. so thanks to eric and all the cohosts and guests you’ve had over the years. y’all never fail to get me to laugh and that’s special to me.

I went to see this in theaters, and like Eric, I found every shot of The Boy to be unintentionally hilarious. I tried to hold my laughter in, but that just made me laugh harder. At first, people in my theater were pissed, but it got to the point that every time The Boy came on screen, everyone burst out laughing.
