    Happy Sunday 💕 I checked out the Lomi before, it’s beautifully designed but too pricy for me so I took a plastic bin I had on hand and made a free compost bin and it’s worked pretty well

      Totally works! Definitely need to save up for something like the Lomi, but considering we aren't much into gadgets and kitchen appliances, we were super excited to save up for it!

    Christine, thank you for reviewing the Lomi! I am very interested in getting one for my home because I live in an apartment and I cannot compost. I want to do better this year to live more sustainably and give back to nature.

    What do you personally do with the results? Do you keep as soil?
    Living in an apartment this seems amazing. I also just wonder what to do with all the soil I get. I do have plants but I am thinking it will produce so much. Perhaps I can skip around the park and bless them with my eco soil? 😜
    Tips?

    Wow! This really inspired me to cook at home, and not always get take-aways. Thanks!!!

    Yes, I saw on Sorted Food this concept and was excited about it. I too find it too pricey right now but I'm certain in another year, it will be more buyer friendly. I'm thankful for innovators who see a problem and make something that solves it. Thank you, Christine. Please continue to make videos! I am thankful for you also!

    It looks great! however it is a little big for a small space. I wish there were few sizes, and colors we can choose from. And if so, hopefully different prices as well... Just waiting to see.

    I had just recently heard about this but there weren't any reviews on it yet since they were just in the preorder stage. I would love to get this for my mom since my family aren't really low waste, and waste a lot of food. Hopefully this appliance would make it convenient for them to be more low waste.

    I never thought to do the potatoes on the stovetop like this; brilliant, Christine! And that stew looked amazing. I adore your linen shirt and am in the market. May I ask where it's from? Thanks, Christine. Loved this video!

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  2 роки тому

      Thank you! The shirt is from Marty Jean, an independent designer based in Portland. I visited there recently and she creates made-to-order pieces as a means to reduce clothing waste and also customizes based on your measurements. (;

    I already pre-ordered mine! I'm so excited. So can put the dehydrated pieces from the eco mode in your plants? If not, can you put it in your yard if you have one? Sorry, just trying to understand what to do with it if it's not on compost mode. Also, what are the pros of using the eco mode vs.compost mode?

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  2 роки тому

      You should be (: Dehydrated pieces are most likely fine in the yard, they just don't have the microorganisms that the compost mode puts out (which looks more like soil). So if you need something nutrient-rich for your plants, go with the compost mode. The eco mode is just quicker and efficient (:

    I am so passionate about composting and if this device is something to get more people to compost then great! BUT it does use electricity and where and how that electricity is made is something to think about.

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  2 роки тому

      Absolutely! I know the people engineering Lomi are making sure to make it as energy efficient as possible (we often use the energy-efficient mode to process the food scraps since there are three options) but knowing where your electricity is coming from is a whole other aspect to it. We're currently using Arcadia Energy to support solar farms and get electricity from cleaner sources since we live in an apartment and can't install anything. (:

    I air fry my potatoes and like them much better than frying them with oil in a pan. I don’t need all that oil to fry anymore.

    • @simplybychristine

      Perks of an air fryer! We haven't gotten one just yet since we're trying to keep cooking appliances to a minimum in our small kitchen, but always hear great things about it (:

    How loud is the Lomi?

    • @simplybychristine
      @simplybychristine  2 роки тому +1

      Not too loud, sounds like a much quieter version of a food processor, a little quieter than the dishwasher!

    christine, don't shoot the messenger but your video essays were shown at my university recently with students acting much like a focus group. When the lights arose in the auditorium, the students/focus groups were required to state what questions they would put to you, if any, if they ever had the opportunity. To universal astonishment, so many of them had the same questions - always asked in a tone of passionate outrage and fear. Fear mingled with a lotta hurt, that is! "Enough bewilderment already," cried our course coordinator. Male students showed balled fists aplenty (some still did at tutorials a full week later). In fact I was even required to give one 19 year old boy my second last strongest tranquillizer. "This is not a UA-cam video I would have made," he said indignantly. (I look forward, I said, to watching your UA-cam video." So please don't think I was one of the haters too!) "Doesn't the act of making a UA-cam video complicate her reputation as the expert's expert in the field?"" asked one 20 year old minimalist mom. "How hep can she be to most reasonable minimalistic discourse since she's making money from UA-cam videos which as I said, can actively discriminate against the visually impaired? Doesn't this prove christine to be at best, guilty of subconscious ableism and capitalistic cupidity?" I said: since when does minimalism come with a how-to-vote Left or Right tat? Another two women asked if you really live where your videos are filmed and wondered aloud if you don't really live somewhere else, like an extremely cluttered but opulent house? Anyway, yours truly has drawn the short straw and I have to put the number one most FAQ to you. So take a deep breath now before we start . . . here goes. Let's go! Woohoo!'
    I think you have a right to make your videos and tell your truth, irrespective of political convictions/correctness and progressive sensibilities. However, would you care to respond to your critics - and oh boy, you've heard them already christine! - who object - loudly - that in an enlightened post #MeToo era, isn't it beneath you as a mature thinker, to fail to post trigger warnings at the beginnings of your videos? For example, no trigger warnings in this despite mentioning food, food and more food, all while potential victims of eating disorders and/or people living with ambivalent relationships to eating could be watching? Also, is your sister really into this as much as you? I"m so sorry! I know some of these questions are perplexing as they are problematic and I understand if you don't wish to answer any of them but a lot of students are interested to hear your answers. Particularly with regard to trigger warnings? Peace, love, empathy, Annabelle.
