Yep...instead of the unnecessary Riptide carnage. I understand how folks like damage, but not simply for the sake of showing off their weapon on an already-disabled robot. Riptide didn't deserve any kind of recognition for that...other than condemnation!
2nd best main event so far, very close decision too. Funny how when monsoon appealed, it changed from split to unanimous for whiplash, totally backfired
Although don't really understand that as pretty sure it became unanimous because one judge ended up changing control to 3-0 for Whiplash which is like unheard of. Believe Monsoon easily deserves 1 control point as not like they were completely out of control. I mean even Shatter got 1 control point from all judges despite flopping around most of the fight by firing the hammer nowhere near Horizon. Like almost never do we see any team sweep control or aggression no matter how lopsided it is and this was far from being a lopsided fight in any area. Think Whiplash deserved the win hands down just not 3 control points. Can understand why Monsoon did it though as chances are their fight with Deathroll is going 3 minutes so really no need to hold onto it.
@@wisewolftony I rewatched the fight and before whiplash lost one side drive, I saw NO control from monsoon whatsoever. Even when whiplash lost drive, monsoon couldn't capitalize on it. Beta vs rotator seemed to be the only 3-0 control fight since it was beta 100% pushing rotator, but I can kinda see why this one was 3-0 even tho it didn't felt like it at all. Plus monsoon ran into the killsaws a few times, and you lose control points for it. You don't just gain one point for simply having one time or second of control, it's comparative. So 90/10 control could be 3-0, not 2-1. Monsoon never tried to flank whiplash or attack his weak points at all either, that probably didn't help
@@jonathanf2392 you wouldn’t give 3-0 control to whiplash in whiplash vs black dragon? (Champions) black dragon didn’t get under them a single time and was lifted a lot
honestly? whiplash has never been the best bot, while I don't usually like repeating taglines the thing that has made whiplash good really has always been Matt's driving: he's just that tiny bit faster to reassess to regain control to respond and to come up with a plan and he's one of the most natural people there when it comes to intuitively working out how things are going to interact between the bots. being able to know what is going to happen as a result of your actions is obviously important for both information flow and for what actions you can take and being that _little_ bit faster to get back to doing what you want to be doing is incredibly important in _any_ competition with mutual interference let alone something like a bot fight where almost every interaction changes how everything works, Biteforce being designed specifically for this was what made Biteforce so utterly terrifying to go up against and being good at it is what makes all of the best bots and/or teams in the field the best bots and/or teams in the field. it sounds dumb and videogamey but all of this together _actually does_ mean that with Matt driving Whiplash the bot is functionally faster more likely to win groundgame a touch more resistant to damage and just generally a tiny bit better in almost every way. whiplash isn't getting worse, the other drivers are just finally getting more competent in general, he's still _absurdly_ good at this but the margin of advantage that affords is narrowing.
Whiplash is also getting used to a total revamp, we know bots are usually at their weakest after they do a revamp (example: Bite Force getting beaten by Chomp of all bots after they fully revamped)
@@Dubstepper yeah, you right. bad example though: that judges decision was quite literally the result of the judges repeatedly assuming that chomp hitting the floor was chomp hitting biteforce...or at least that's what they claimed. there really did always seem to be a lot of truth to the rumors that chomp got handed most of it's judges decisions regardless of what happened in the match: it's a _great_ way to vilify a team especially when they are represented as so fake and toxic, real shame too since how they actually acted towards other people was usually a lot closer to that time they stayed up all night to make Witch Doctor's replacement weapons than all those times the show made it look like someone was sleeping with the producers or fixing bets or whatever the heck other reason you (the audience) can come up with to justify things.

monsoon got robbed. monsoon is one of the most unique designs i've seen, but its biggest vulnerability is the angled sides. they need to mount forks on both sides, so instead of deflecting the enemy bot, it would pull it straight into the spinner. similar to what sawblaze has, but they'd need forks that would work both ways. if it gets flipped, then forks would be same. hard to explain, but i have perfect design done in my head already. with this design enemies wouldn't be able to push it around so easily. monsoon only has very small angle where it can hit
It's hard to win when one side has the reputation. Although Monsoon seemed to have won that one, they would have to have done significantly better than their (more well known) opponent in order to win. Fair? No, but it seem to be the BattleBot way.
I don't know, they scored plenty of damage points, but did nothing to control and were not aggressive through the whole match. You can't win on any one bracket alone, the sad thing is damage is still worth more than either of the other two. If they wanted to win on damage alone, they needed a knockout, if that failed, which it did, they need to at least score some other points. Their weapon performed great, too bad they didn't go on the attack with it, then they would have got some aggression points, or maybe pinned the opponent, and got some control points, but they didn't. So they lost.
This match was alright. I would of chose the Horizon vs Shatter fight instead. That or the rematch between Minotaur vs End Game from World Championship 6. That match was pure hype! 😁
Good bout, but my main impression is that after all these years, and the arena hazards are still random trash. They've gotta just get rid of the Pulverizer and saws, because they're just incredibly unfair, and apparently they can't be made to function consistently.
Im.not sure what you mean by "unfair". Not arguing just curious what you meant. The hazards don't do a lot of damage, but that's so random chance doesn't frag you, the opponent has to work for a knock out, not just get lucky the other bot got land mined. They're there for control bots to score points, it demonstrates control.
in one episode, Minotaur managed to break a pulverizer, and it was hollow. It has no weight at all, it probably just tickles, even the most fragile robot.
It's the tip speed: RPM * 60 * distance from center of axle to tip tooth * 2 * pi = speed. This is because Battlebots has a tip speed limit and RPM doesn't say much without knowing the diameter of the weapon. For example Minotaurs drum spins at maximum ~10000RPM while Witch Doctors weapon spins at around 5000RPM, but both have a tip speed of 250 mph because Minotaurs drum is smaller than Witch Doctors disc.
Dude, it's just people being affectionate. That's on you if it weirds you out to see people who are not afraid of what others think of their love. If an embrace puts you off, you might do some thinking on that.
By outgrowing them, and being more aggressive. Damage alone does not win, unless it's a knockout. They outperformed them with skill. To be fair, monsoon didn't really pull any maneuvers, establish control or pin whiplash, and the weren't very aggressive. They just slowed turned and waited for whiplash to attack, that's the opposite of aggression, which they know they are scored on.
By not driving around, getting herded like livestock, and failing to get a knockout? Because that's how you lose a decision. Either knock'em out, or out score them, and they failed at both.
Lmfao, close my arse, Whiplash did nothing but push Monsoon around because it has more HP. Monsoon did far more damage to whiplash.
