2 years ago it seemed nigh on impossible for us to beat Ohio State after Blake got hurt. We were 9-point underdogs and won by 22. This year we’re 20-point underdogs and we’re playing for nothing other than pride. The only path as I see it is to play lockdown defense right from the jump, get stops, and hopefully get some short fields via a turnover or two, that result in points. If we can get up 10-14 and then put together some sustained drives, there’s a chance we could pull this off. We have better coaches, and Ryan Day tends to be pathetically risk averse against us. Add to this ALL the pressure is on him to win this or likely lose his job. We shall see. All that said, I don’t think a Michigan win is very likely. I envision we hang for a quarter and a half, maybe 17-7 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter our 1st string defense gets tired and Ohio State pulls away. 34-10. I was catastrophically wrong, to my own delight, in 2022. I hope I am this year too.
That all sounds reasonable to me. I'm just looking for a good game because I'm already looking at that recruiting class for next year and getting hyped.
@Zskillit Meanwhile, back here in reality, Michigan, primarily Sherrone Moore, has outcoached and outdeveloped Ryan Day and his staff 3 years running. Before you gurgle your Old Milwaukee, consider these irrefutable facts: Fact: Michigan with Sherrone Moore on staff has never had a higher recruiting class, nor as highly rated players as Ryan Day, yet he has beaten Ohio State 3 years in a row. Fact: Ohio State has been ranked higher than Michigan going into all 3 Ohio State losses. Fact: Sherrone Moore has a proven track record as an O-line coach and Offensive coordinator of developing 3-star talent into NFL caliber players. In short, Sherrone Moore has done far more with far less talent than Ryan Day, who inherited a 13-1 team and has finished the past two seasons with 2 losses and without bowl wins, despite having the 3rd most talented roster in college football. Fact: When you have more talent and lose consistently to less talented teams, you have a coaching problem. These are indisputable facts and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise either hasn’t followed the programs in question or doesn’t know football. You can go position by position and make the comparison. Just a few: CJ Stroud is already likely the best Ohio State QB ever to play in the NFL. How many times did he beat Michigan under Ryan Day? How many Big 10 titles did he win? Aidan Hutchinson came to Michigan as a 4-star athlete ranked barely in the top-100 players. He left as the Heisman runner up with more sacks his senior season than Jack Sawyer, a 5-star, had in his first three full seasons at Ohio State. Hutchinson is also without a doubt one of the top edge rushers in the NFL. He’s still 3rd in sacks despite having a season ending injury 6 games ago!!! Examples are endless. We can talk Marvin Harrison Jr., Smith Njignba, et al., and compare them with Hassan Haskins and Mike Sainristil, 2 3-stars. That’s coaching. As for recruiting, Sherrone is doing fine. Bryce Underwood is a pretty good get for the program, along with several other flips along with the usual compliment of solid linemen. Ryan Day spent $20,000,000 and it didn’t even occur to him to get any O-line depth. Soft. Finesse. And yeah, Michigan is having the kind of year this year Ohio State will have next year. We sent 19 guys to the NFL from the 14th most talented program……coaching. Maybe you guys could win something BEFORE running your sucks about how great you are for a change. You haven’t won a championship in 10 years; we won one 10 months ago.
@DeshCanter Bryce didn't want to go to Michigan. You had to pay him 13 million to stay in his own state. That's embarrassing. Harbaugh never beat OSU until stallions arrived. He was going to get fired until the "covid" that hit the team and he canceled the game, then found his little buddy. You're giving Moore the credit for harbaugh teams now? Lmao Cool. Then Day gets credit for the urban years he was there when they took you to the woodshed. Michigan is having one of the worst years ever for a reigning national champion. Your own fanbase wants moore gone.
@ You could have saved everyone time by just saying you never played football at a competitive level and know nothing about it, rather than putting an exclamation point on that fact by invoking Stalions. Shall we retreat from your fanboy wishcasting and return to reality? Michigan sent 19 players to the NFL last season. Clearly the NFL scouts-you know, the guys who get paid large sums of money to assess talent and execution on the field, as opposed to you sitting on your couch petting your Ryan Day bobble head doll a little too aggressively-didn’t think Michigan’s on field performances were in any way tainted. Actually everyone who knows football agrees with that, which is why the National Championship trophy is in our trophy case and no one is talking about Stalions who doesn’t share your name. You’re going to need to get help with your delusions in order to legitimately engage in big boy conversations. See your therapist. Hug your mom. Do whatever you need to in order to tether yourself to reality. Until then, you’re just too pathetic to take seriously. PS. Does Bryce Underwood know that you’re his press agent and speak for what he thinks and wants? As for paying players, it’s your overrated program that spent $20,000,000 and still won’t win the National Championship. But hey, you did manage to pull into 2nd place in the Big10 last week! Congrats!
yes they can. defensive line will dominate, will howard will be rattled and probably throw one or two interceptions, offensively osu will be squatting on everything underneath which will let us take some 15-20 yard shots to space out the defense and let donovan edwards run more freely
I agree. I think we can run the ball. I think we will have success passing. I think with OSU's injuries on the o-line we can stifle the run and get to Howard. If we get a turnover or two I think Michigan can pull off the upset.
@@jonathanwiggins7017and that’s exactly why it won’t happen; there’s a ton of tape showing that Warren won’t hit deep balls, and therefore they aren’t going to respect him in that context (and being that this is the case we should absolutely scheme some deep throws for him, but I don’t have faith in KC to do that).
@@ctgslayer I mean we can scheme it but realistically whenever he’s had to drop back to pass in the pocket assuming he even has time and the receivers will get separation which I’m not confident in, he will probably miss the through. The only chance we have is if we do what we did last weekend and the defense plays lights out. Short passing game and designed runs with an occasional medium pass over the middle.
I really don't see a win as much as I really want one . Weird things happen in this game and I am optimistic. I really don't think the offense can be that consistent. Hope I am wrong ! Go Blue!
OSU isn’t as impressive as I thought they would be given the seniors and talent they paid for. I dont think we win this game but if we had an above average offense then I think we could. Our defense is skilled enough to do it, problem is our offense won’t move the ball.
We have absolutely zero chance of winning this game. In fact we get crushed. 48-3 is my prediction. Let’s get them next year. And never forget, We are the National Champions, can’t win it every year
I don't see a path to victory for Michigan unless the Buckeyes totally lay an egg and show up unprepared and overconfident, but I fully expect Oregon to leave no doubt next week. In that event, I think Ryan Day is done.
Are you guys delusional!?!? First off, Michigan ain't beating Ohio. Not even close. Second, applauding buying a high school kid (who didn't even want to come to Michigan) rather than paying the best head coach and coaching staff is utter ridiculousness. @MrGoGetter yeah, you're right. But I'm not mad about the season. Buying a high School Brat 10 million, rather than using that money to get the best coach on the land. Makes no sense.
