Took me the better part of an afternoon to beat this guy on my first run. You may not have had your father’s respect, Julius, but you sure as hell earned mine.
@@ayakotami3318his character is indicative of a a true tragedy, Father originally only cared about him as a ‘continuation of his bloodline’ and then raised by the wretch’s of society being the executioners and then toiled endlessly to probably become the youngest knight captain in Lands End’s history, all for his father to acknowledge him and tell him he was wrong to abandon him in his quest for immortality, only to be told he and the white priestesses he sought to protect were disposable, could you imagine the despair he felt in that moment before he killed his father realizing the one thing he’d ever dedicated himself to before he’d inevitably be consumed by the Blight was all for nothing?
That's why I like his and Hoenir's story the most. And that all makes him an amazing character to have on your team. His special attack is so useful against later boses like Miriel the Beloved. I went and got him before going for Ulv since that goes for a good distance.
The first time I had a very hard time with this boss. Now, its not too bad. The key on the first and second stage is to simply be behind him and hit him with the swords. On the third stage, repeat the same, but never every be far from him. As soon as he starts the process of sending out a blast, make sure you get behind him and slash away. Keep repeating it and you should be okay. Again, never ever be far from him on the last stage or he will kill you with one blow.
i killed him just with gerrod and merchant, took a couple of days to get a strategy relics - cracked familiar stone, decayed crown, royal aegis crest, giant ring, broken music box, holy spring water, it was so hard until i tried this set up inspired by your video. lots of dashing behind the boss and bashing away and bringing out the merchant after the 1st stage
Thanks man, I beat him using the western merchant and the castle town maiden. Relics used were… soiled prayer beads, cracked familiar stone, holy spring water, Fretia’s ring, ancient dragon claw, royal aegis crest, giants ring, the immortal crest is badass, a must have, and the priestess doll, one thing I don’t understand is that the other relic, the white priestess statue does the same thing but takes up 4 slots instead of 3. But that combination worked well, as well as the dashing and slashing
The best spirit you can have in countering this guy, is the Headless Knight, or the Secret Experiment (jar dude). If you time it right, you don't have to rely on the stagger bar since it will give you a few seconds of opening to hack em away. Also, the Executioner is another key spirit to land a free hit. Since its always behind him when it attacks, and guarantee's a hit since he can't block it, use it whenever he backs away, or when he is a bit further from you. To avoid his sudden thrusts, always be in-front of him, since he will perform a winding jab allowing you to hit him a few times at the back, but in the third phase, you'll have to abandon the strategy since he can now do a 360. Best of luck to ya'll in your first run.
Took me about five tries first time around. Once I knew his attacks he was an easy match and only took one time this last time I played through. I paired that HP heal Relic alongside Castle Town Maiden and the Merchant and I only had to heal once. That healing relic is a godsend for such a fight but you still have to pace yourself and be careful. It's such a fun and fast paced fight! My favorite after Hoenir.
I've made it from lost in the maze of twin spires, to this fight in one day. I think I'll have to try to conquer this tomorrow. Ulv took me 20 tries already today...
Wish I could see what relics and what level your spirits were. Also the first two phases you make look like a cakewalk but you got really sloppy in the third phase. Which is what keeps happening to me.
The thing about Julius is that he's like Hoenir, in that the tempo of the fight drastically changes between Phase 2 and 3- he becomes way more aggressive with attacking compared to the more sedate phases 1 and 2. For relics, assume that I used a fair bit of defense as well as the increase to my number of heals- I was probably using the Snowdrop bracelet at the very least. Possibly the Giant's Ring and Holy Spring Water, too. As for my spirit levels, assume that Village Elder and Executioner are Level 4 or so, and my knight level in this playthrough was 3 or 4 for this fight.
what is it that makes people struggle with Julius and Ulv? because I'll admit, I found Gerrod and Miriel significantly harder honestly in my personal opinion I find Julius to actually be one of easiest bosses in the game, possibly even the easiest overall...
I beated him on first try. He's not that hard. Just always dash behind him and we should be 80% safe from his attacks. He's very slow. Easy to read his attacks. Ulv is harded (took 4 tries to beat him) but not that challenging,

No kidding there. He must have been a talented and respected Knight by his peers and even superirors before the blight overtook him.
@@ayakotami3318 It would certainly seem so. Alas, it was not the acknowledgement he craved...

So satisfying when you learn to read his moveset. You feel like you're dancing with him. I'd say he's like the Artorias of this game.
nah, Artorias is the Julius of Dark Souls.
@@Unbounded.well, yes. But our Abysswalker is kinda older.
More like Nameless king to me,both use sword spear, abit hard to predict movesets.

Best boss in the game. I love his lore
The Best is Ulv

Wtf how come did you have all that before this fight
I love this fight, I can really feel myself get carried by the flow, and let my instincts take over.
Hands down the best fight of the game

Omg i remember (this is on my third FULL playthrough) when i beat him 1st try
he was harder than ulv for me ugh
