Fantastic idea and I know I will be making one. It would have been great if we saw the finished project thou. I will be using flameless candles in mine and a purchased lantern from Ikea.

I was searching UA-cam for some ideas on making a model lighthouse and found this video. Not really what I was after, but the humour and production quality were so good that I watched it all. Liked it, too. I appreciate seeing several different attempts to get the look Miss C wanted. It would have been very cool to see it in its entirety, but I certainly got the idea. Subscribed!

Nice but I think I would like to secure each pot with some kind of caulking an maybe just use a solar light at top instead of electric.

i like the idea.. put a solar panel for power and build it for the edge of the swamp..a few boaters have hit it inbound to the ramp. perhaps provide the bats with some grub insects.
total coolness thankyou for the idea!!!

Clever, just what I was looking for, really liked the video... You make it interesting and entertaining.. Love the honesty, not that all projects don't go the way you expect but you make it real. How all my projects go. I should give up but I'm to damn stubborn. Hey, I try.. Dang, now I have to check out your others.. Sigh

I am going to try using a solar lamp that you use for walkways. Might work....also yours would look nice as the "cement" look that you were almost doing.

Nice idea but my concern is that the pots are only balanced on top of each other and not secured very well. They could easily topple / become unbalanced in a moderate wind.

She mentioned but did not show that she is using E6000 adhesive to glue them together. I would just use construction adhesive available at the hardware store or Lowes, Home Depot....

Yes...we needed to see the finished product all lit up at various angles at a distance...and how the plug was done....the project felt unfinished for the veiwer.
Also the camera should have been pointed at the project itself a lot more....although she is delightful.

This would have been so easy, paint the pot bodies white and the pot rims red, the top cap black, add some stenciled windows and a door. Perfect!

    very nice

    • @MissCraftsAlot

For the pots: small, medium, large approx 5, 8, 12$ (depending on where you find them), scan the free section on Craigslist for garden pots. It's a great source for the budget crafter. The outdoor lighting kit was kinda spendy.. about 30$. To be honest, this project was a kind of fail for me because the light I purchased needs an accessory that's to be purchased separately. If you choose can electrical garden light, there are no worries about electric shock or anything, when used properly. However, you can avoid all that by getting one of those solar powered garden lights. Some are pretty darned powerful. The craft paint is about 1.50 for a small bottle at Joann or Michael's. Make sure to get the indoor/outdoor kind.

I like the idea, but it would have been nice to see the lighthouse while it was being painted/assembled instead of the camera being fixed on the instructor. I would have also liked to have seen the entire finished project, not just the top layer and would be nice to see it lit up.

Why didn't you show the finished lighthouse? Also, it would have looked better red with the black lantern....Would have subscribed but there's just something so weird about someone who acts goofy like this....I just wanted to see how to build a clay pot lighthouse.

1st of all - Incandescent light??? What is this, 1946 post-war Germany? Use LED lights for goodness sakes. 2nd - Instead of taking the time to dye your hair purple, please just hit them gray roots next time will ya. I was trying to eat cereal for gosh sakes and that sooooooo grossed me out.
