Love and miss Paul, we invisioned raising our son,Justin, together. Paul was getting clean in 87. Horn from the Heart doesn't show how happy he was in 87. He had BB King call me that April. BB said " you two have a fine lookin boy!" I was thrilled, as I was a big BB fan. Met Paul in 75 from Levon Helm and Rick Danko. Love at first sight, but we had our obstacles. We'll be together someday, as we were soulmates.🌷

Hi Tomlin, nevermind on the answer why he plays at an angle I found his youtube video explaining it. I'm pretty surprised how much difference it made for me hitting single notes. Thank you so much for posting this video today!

I think I just learned a new technique. He holds the harp at an angle. Cool and fun tone to explore.

Thanks again for your excellent help showing us harp players "slaving away" at practice HOW to get it down; P.S. We like your new hair color, it looks cool & really vibrant', stay with it, Jesse in Orlando,FL.

I remember the first time I heard "Everything..." on that live Butterfield album. Hair-raising from the first note. Nice video, here.

Tomlin why does Roly turn his harp up like that? I tried it and love it...I notice I can only play single holes..which I understand for chords you would have to turn back to normal, I just find it cool and somewhat easier to play like that.

Probaly the most killing harp intro of all time. (For some reson in F# here, but no biggie.) And an interesting thing about it is that it´s not very much improvisation going on: he played this many times, and the variations are rather small -- which in no way detracts from its musical value. I believe I´m not the only one who can remember in extreme detail the very first time you heard this.

A Seydel Stainless steel Sessions is an easy harp to play and the stainless steel reeds will last a lot longer the brass reeds on a Hohner.

Hohner Marine Band or Special 20. I prefer the Special 20 plastic instead of wood but both are great

@JAMWITCH666it sounds different because when Butters played it the marine bands came with a different tuning from the factory. Modern harps are mostly tuned to Hohner compromised, or 19-limit, and not 7-limit just intonation like when Butters played it. Also, it doesn’t matter what harp you use, no one will ever sound like Butters… that’s why he’s a legend.

The seminar is played on a “C” harp. Unfortunately the recording dropped it down a half step. Tomlin what happened? Never fear, audio stretch to the rescue.

This video is mostly a taste to get you to join his club. Thus the purposeful altering of the pitch in my opinion.

Gotta find a better music/video channel than youtube. Haven't found it yet but that is what I am lookin' for. Any suggestions? Used to be all free and now it all costs money.
I don't want to go searchin' around youtube to find shit where one must agree to be subjected to early 60s or 70s or 80s advert shit. Waste of my time.
You wanna hear genius then you wanna hear Butterfield without ads. If you wanna hear that, then don't buy it on youtube.
