As an eyewitness of this song performed 3 times at the venue, I guarantee that the real live audio with Kami Bands had more power and heaviness to stir your feelings. (twice by East Kamis and once by West Kamis)
High and low undulation of Su's voice with maturity and sharp moves by Moa and Momoko brought about various emotions 😱. This live footage is from January 29 Makuhari show by Su-Metal, Moametal and Momoko Avenger. On April 2 in Yokohama, new trio with official 3rd girl, Momometal, performed this song. Love the J-pop sound from 2000 and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound, SuMetal got that emotional effect in all of us, she also said this was one of the hardest song to record in the studio. Here's some info about this song:
_One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" and this 4th pre-release digital single “Light and Darkness” centers around this theme. Because light exists, darkness also exists._
_And because darkness is present, there is also a world that shines._
_During the night when light and darkness intersect, what we seek after poisoned with darkness awaits a world filled with strong love. As the door opens, is it hope or despair that awaits us? The song expresses the duality in everything and the way things are perceived and interpreted differ depending on each person’s point of view._
This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND". They recently released the DVD/BD with the full concert of "BabyMetal Returns - The Other One" which includes this song along with more special versions.
So far they didn't performed this outside of Japan, so we're waiting for a new headlining show with this song in the setlist once again.
They recently announced the Metalverse is gonna happen once again with the opening of Summer Sonic Festival next month, so we're waiting for more surprises but like always OTFGK.
Also it was announced another Japanese festival called "Next Fest" featuring BMTH, BM, Maximum The Hormone, Paledusk (the one who collaborated in the making of Lil Uzi Vert ft BM - The End), Yoasobi and more bands.

Nice reaction. The song starts for those of who were around with a mix of disco. Continuing Babymetals tradition of blending genres. Tasty is a good way to describe this song. So many flavors used in this song. But in small doses. A reminder that sometimes small things can turnout pretty big. Kind of like Babymetal itself. They love their juxtaposition in the world. Sometimes your day is hard, sometimes it's easy. But no matter which it is you must get up and move forward. Always forward. From the book of Babymetal.#notacult. ha ha. They could find the light in any darkness. They're the ones bringing it. Now turn on your lights and help Su light up this dark dark world. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
Great reaction. The disco beat at the start put me off when I first heard this, so the song had to grow on me ... but I knew to wait to hear the live version before making my mind up. Talking of which the live version with the Kami Band adding to the instrumentals is so much better.

So glad you enjoyed this one. "Light and Darkness" is way outside my alley musically and I needed a few extra listens until the song started to grow on me. And it finally hit me emotionally probably because of Su-metal's gorgeous vocals (she admitted that this is the most challenging song off the new album). The live version is even better and you can appreciate better all the details you mentioned also being a little less "dancey". 😁

Su's vocals are amazing when performing it at the Pia Arena show Su did not take a breath on the last high note when hitting the note she just went on from 2nd "Go on " incredible 😁

As usual, your thoughts on the musical choices made are very interesting and thought provoking. Well done. I think what's unique about this album as opposed to their other albums is that it really works as a complete, cohesive listening experience. Hopefully you give yourselves the opportunity to appreciate it as a body of work, once you're done with reviewing the individual songs.
This is my favorite song that shows off Suzuka Nakamoto voice. She also has written songs.
Everytime I hear this song, I find myself holding my breath as Su sings higher and higher notes, just waiting for the drop.... and then the pause before the drop, just makes it so much more satisfying when it finally hits.... AND MOA'S VOCALS!..... that's so cool. 😁🤘🦊🤘

The four note vocal climb is one of my favorite things..maybe ever... I loved it when I first heard it on the album and I was hoping that it wasn't relying too heavily on production but they killed it live. When I first heard it and Su went for the third note I was hoping there would be a fourth but I wasn't sure how that would come off and from the very first time through my first listen I was like, nailed it!
The version of this video with live audio from the Kami Band is much better in my opinion

After all, everyone might has different tastes in music, right? Excuse me for that I didn't think you guys would like this song, because the reactions of yours so far to the new album looks to have been so for me. But it's more melodic and emotional than the previous songs on the latest album, I think. Su- has said in some interviews that it was hard to sing. I think the lyrics are metaphorical but sensual and different from previous BM's songs on the other albums. I actually listen to it a lot recently in order of Metalizm, Monochrome, and this one in my car, hahaha.
