    If gymnastics were really an effective fighting style someone would do it. MMA proves what works in a real fight, fighting within one style doesn't prove its superiority over other styles.

    My father was born around the creation of wushu. and he was train in wushu and understands it was ineffective in street fight. Afterall back in the past China was harsh and people had to fight for food to survive. He never wushu in street fight because it doesn't work.

    In the last decade or so modern wushu has stopped being elite martial arts routines and become mediocre gymnastics. My generation has witnessed the death of an art form.
    The people who had the devotion and personality to becom elite martial artist have been diverted by some people's dreams of Olympic glory to become practitioners of an empty sport. I agree that Martial arts are not just about fighting, but they are also not just about meaningless flips and butterfly kicks with a 900º twist.

    it's funny you say boxing cuz that first guy that does a jump kick and lands on the ground. his name is zhao chang jun, and he had a controlled fight with mohammad ali. yes the boxer. they gave each other mad respect and then became good friends. so that's why i love old school and it rules cuz you can fuck people up and have aestheticism for the ladies too. ;p

    i know how to defeat the wushu kufu , is to take control of the person chi throught chi kung or the use of telekinetic skill. my device can train a person into that level. to defeat wushu with chi kung level 9 stage 9. with out movement just pure telekinetic. however chi kung and wushu is from the same branch of yoga sutras movement of chi .

    @akrocuba martial arts were originally created for war purpose, there it means its effective in real fight, but nowdays its limited to being official sport and students are trained to avoid killing an opponent.
    I dont really know how its going on in training, but martial artists also must know about humans body and its vital spots to disable enemy fast, but by the looks of today's martial arts i can say it's only choreography that looks cool.

  • @kevinkung60
    @kevinkung60 13 років тому

    @MrNormalton you don't understand what he is saying! what he means is that 'kung fu' is the term commonly used for chinese martial arts in the western world, while 'wushu' is the term used by people in china. in america, when people say wushu, they usually mean the contemporary performance-oriented sport. in china, wushu just means 'martial art,' and can refer to either the sport or traditional chinese martial arts. 'kung fu' is a term than means 'work and time,' stuck in the american lexicon.

  • @spacebum
    @spacebum 14 років тому

    @zigzigerblat Traditional what? Kung Fu is a western term for martial arts. I train in "traditional" and Tai Chi, oh that's right, we call it Wushu. Wushu is not taolu it is all aspects; taolu, san da, tai chi, chin na, animal styles, weapons. I've just come back from training in Beijing at the sports university and it's all taught in one place as Wushu. Different teachers specialise but if you're at a club at home you need to find one who does it all. Or maybe i'm just lucky to have one. Peace

    @ikterion
    alright, challenge an MMA/BJJ etc fighter and see what happens. He doesn't have to be a big name, there are MMA and BJJ gyms all over the place.
    Everyone on youtube jumps at the chance to "defend" their chosen art and degrade others in the process, but I'd like to see any of them say any of this directly to MMA/UFC fighters such as Georges St. Pierre, Karo Parisyan, or Anderson Silva. Wushu is beautiful, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

  • @BlueberryDoughnuts
    @BlueberryDoughnuts 14 років тому

    @PsychoKungFu
    Also, the "rules" you seem to be against are there to ensure the fight doesn't end in death or permanent injury, which in turn ensures the potential for many more years of activity for the defeated fighter. But, essentially, I would seriously doubt you really know anything about martial arts beyond what you've read on wikipedia and seen in Bruce Lee (RIP) movies, and any true appreciator of martial arts is open to all martial arts, despite the fact people are partial to their own

  • @BlueberryDoughnuts
    @BlueberryDoughnuts 14 років тому

    @PsychoKungFu
    The UFC has plenty of skilled fighters who train in styles from all over the world. By no means is Chinese Wushu or Kung Fu of any type completely ineffective, if that was the case how would the traditions last the many centuries they have? But the fact of the matter is if you're trained strictly in striking arts as are most modern Wushu practitioners, a simple take down leading to a choke or arm bar can end a fight.

    @SpaceTrollMuthaFuka
    Wushu is a form of kunfu. It's not necessarily about combat. Wushu is literally a sport that focuses on the demonstration aspect of kung-fu. So yes, using most of the techniques demonstrated would be absolutely useless in actual combat, but this martial art still requires an immense amount of practice, choreography, and precision. The movements performed in this video are a lot harder than most people think.

  • @Catsincages
    @Catsincages 15 років тому

    This is very entertaining. The problem with the guys arguing below is they keep using the term kung fu, its not the 1970's!
    Kung-fu is a pointless term nowadays, in fact even the term "martial arts" is pointless as no single person can agree what it means, and the people who compile dictionaries and encyclopedias are not any better!
    ( appologies to people who's style has either of those phrases in its name, I am talking about the general usage of those terms not any specific style).

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    im well aware that the new shaolin kung fu isnt the same but tell me what styles on kung fu nowadays that is actually practical without any modifications? to be honest u have to trace back thousands of history to find 'true' kung fu and we can only moan about whats lost. even how experienced a modern hung gar or wing chun practitioner , he/she would not be using the same hung gar thousands of yrs ago as its all been modified. yes modern wushu is indeed controversial but thats the way it is

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    to come across to me as u havent seen these forms before. even the old northern kung fu has always been well known for flying kicks/high kicks. there are many variations of monkey style and in this video its shows monkey staff, which the guy is doing, is one of the correct forms of monkey kung fu. youtube it and even the shaolin monks have performed it. like i said many times these forms arent for beating someone up.

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    no, everyone laughs at these videos because they lack understanding of these competitions and think its'dancing.' ive done traditional styleslike hung gar before. like i said if u enteredthese competitions like some of friends did, its about physical skills, not fighting. besides alot of these wushu practioners aim to make it suceesful in the movie industry not beating each other up.

  • @kevchu8045
    @kevchu8045 15 років тому

    lol when you mention old school i hope you mean old school wushu techniques not old school kung fu. If you meant old school kung fu, then I consider that as an insult. To me, real kung fu does not consist of much fancy movements just moves that are actually applicaple in real life. I am very skeptic when it comes to wushu old or modern because it is considered "the new generation or style" of kung fu and I do not like that. Sure its nice to look at, but useless in actual combat.

  • @rarrbear
    @rarrbear 16 років тому

    i was replying to a comment made on here. sometimes it's hard to tell if a comment is in response to someone else. yes the root of all martial arts if fighting. but contemporary wushu is one of the MOST impractical when it comes to applications. it has evolved for the sake of routines and show. not for fighting. if you follow wushu (i'm assuming you don't since you don't know what the "new stuff" is) you would see how it has changed over the past decade.

  • @CrimsonEclipse
    @CrimsonEclipse 17 років тому

    Well I didn't really say all wushu is inaffective I mostly meant modern wushu. Real wushu like shaolin wushu is a very affective martial art but modern wushu is mostly for entertainment. It really depends on the style and especially the person. I know it's self defense but I'm talking about combat. The truth is just the training can't really help you be a good fighter. People need practice in real combat to be a good fight.

  • @CrimsonEclipse
    @CrimsonEclipse 17 років тому

    I know people who were in martial art training, mostly wushu for many years and they can't fight to save their lives but they can do flips.Modern wushu people don't train for combat their basic kicks are like tornado and butterfly which is flying in the air kicks which are weak because of gravity, it makes the impact softer. Wushu was originated from Gong Fu which was a real combat style but still gong fu stylist understand what technique to use in actual combat.

  • @Ming1975

    Dude. The perfect example of a wushu fighter is SERKAN YILMAZ. His from Wushu Europe Championship. Most wushu guys end up fighting like a common kickboxer but YILMAZ shows his ChangQuan shit!!! Fans like him even when he loses! I hope more fighters can show their martial art when they fight instead of geting desprate to win. Dont you agree? Anyway YILMAZ is impressive in a fight you wont be disapointed:)

  • @shanggao

    All these are very famous and previous China National and International Wu Shu and Kung Fu Champions. Of course, there more. You can see their focus, flexibility, balance, speed, power. Do they have to fight with others to prove themselves? No! Just one punch, kick, turn, push, or any move can tell the difference and level.

  • @acelee12
    @acelee12 14 років тому

    its not the kind of martial arts or fighting styles or how u fight that matters its more about the amount of skill one has. if u can do anything perfectly it shoudl be affective but no one can do anything exactly perfect everytime so dont fight or take offense in what someone says about your prefered style or type of martial arts.

  • @slipiak
    @slipiak 14 років тому

    i agree with the last sentence... but still the word kungfu has nothing to do with martial arts...at all :D i mean in the chinese language. In chinese, it mean "skill". And that skill can be also in cooking, driving etc. I just want to point out, that many understand word Wushu as a name for competitive style of chinese martial arts. And thats simply wrong. Thank you! :)

    @Blogdub hahah dude all ufc is MMA(mixed martial arts) if u put these guys in the octagan chuck lidel, rashad even, or all thoes other fighters will prolly knocked out or dead most of mma is kick bocking and judo or jujitsu wich is grappling, hooking,chokes,locks so you wouldnt want to see one of these guys in the octagan,trust me it would be all bad

  • @FallenInAdam

    Awesome video but I'm sorry to say that the hip hop music behind it is horrible it ruins the whole thing. You should've kept the music in the beginning or put some traditional asian drums and string music behind to really pay it tribute. Just an opinion not my intention to insult so please don't take it that way

  • @rarrbear
    @rarrbear 16 років тому

    nvm my comment about writing in response to someone. apparently it was your comment. your original comment suggested that you don't know much about wushu. like sport karate, it's all about show, doing crazy stuff that pple can say oooh and ahhh to. pple that train wushu don't do it so they can go fight or learn to kick someone's ass in the ufc.

  • @CrimsonEclipse
    @CrimsonEclipse 17 років тому

    Most modern wushu stylist doesn't understand the strength of and impact hit mostly because they aren't train to hit people. Fancy foot work doesn't mean you can fight but is can be intimidating if people are ignorant. But still wushu can be effective if the person using it understand the physical strength of the technique.

  • @CrimsonEclipse
    @CrimsonEclipse 17 років тому

    You can really kills someone with wushu if you know how to use it. but still in most training they don't want you to know how to train for combat because you really don't need to know in this modern times because it's not like you are going to war with hand to hand combat. Unlike back in the past when guns and bombs wasn't invented hand to hand combat was all there is for war.

  • @spacebum
    @spacebum 14 років тому

    @ONIGATO Wushu is a totally seperate sport. The self defense aspect is called chin-na. The fighting aspect is called san da / san shou. And the bit you're watching is called taolu. Kung fu is nothing like this, trust me (or go to a kung fu school and judge for yourself).

  • @MightySunTzu
    @MightySunTzu 14 років тому

    @PsychoKungFu why not just be happy about everything and learn from it? you can even learn from mma. try not to judge so much. a true master does these things, i hope you have matured over the past 8 months since you posted...well not matured, learned/changed, or not have fun.

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    but you are tlaking about sountern style like hung gar/wing chun etc which their stance are rooted from the ground. northern is pretty much this and no, backflips arent for evading anything. try not to view this as fighting and admire their physical skills as thats modern wushu.

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    i hearu andiknow alotof ppl tho thinks likeu but this is modern wushu, (not traditional even thos the title says so) the whole point of these competitions isnt for fighting whatsoever. in fact modern wushu is now seprate into forms like this video and full contact such as sanda/sanshou.

  • @KILLERZ0000
    @KILLERZ0000 15 років тому

    i think u missed the point. these are wushu competitions to display their physical aspects of martial arts and no they wouldnt use flips from the head eg to fight whatsoever as this isnt for contact. wushu sanda is for full contact. please do some research or learn some history

  • @darklordtang
    @darklordtang 15 років тому

    they are exactly the same thing, Kungfu is big words, in chinese it means the time and energy you will spent on something. the relationship between them is similar to the thing between father and Dad. Wushu is more formal word , it only means all those fightling skill

    I'm 22 and I'm about to take my red belt tests for hapkido and wushu. The technique that these guys have are unreachable by all but the most devoted (probably professional), but there's a couple black belt guys at our dojang (26 and 33) that use weapons like this and whatnot. Short answer: no.

  • @CrimsonEclipse
    @CrimsonEclipse 17 років тому

    sure there was weapon like arrows but they can run out fast and afterward it's hand to hand combat with spears and sword. the style of training gong fu is build for these kind of combats. but modern wushu isn't. Do modern people need to learn how to fight. probably not.

  • @Ming1975

    nice video editin. I could care less for the song, I actually don't like 50 cent's music. But a good amount of the editing had the movements on beat & synced with the music. Dope video
