My name is Alex Araya and I am a 25 year old maker from Texas in the USA. It is great to have you here following along!
In this project I built a butcher style walnut countertop. Super fun. Let me know if you have any questions down in the comments :)

Te quedo bien padre! Una pregunta, como cuanto gastaste en toda esa madera?
What is the thickness of the boards. Great video.
Awsome video man! nice result, nice video quality! I just fond your channel and i'm glad about it . When i came her i was surprised about al the good videos you have. I just watched this video and i want to see more. I just hit that red button for you and come back later. Great channel my friend!
Thanks brother I appreciate the support! I’ll hit you up as well! I’m always looking for new makers. How did you find the channel?
@@arayawoodworks i found your channel trough your comment o nanother video. I'm always searching for some new channels with great content
Great video! I have to get a Festool, it's at the top of my list. How do you like those Jet clamps?
It’s expensive but so worthy. I like them, the trigger can get stuck sometimes but I think that’s my fault for not keeping the clamps super clean
Good work man! Did you make the base too?
I did not. They clients just wanted a top since the base was there already
The voice is soothing
Haha thank you for watching 😊
What finish did you use?
I’m curious if you considered routing a round over edge on it?
I don’t think I did. I just soften the edges.
How has this held up after a years time?
So far, I haven’t heard back from the clients. I did recommended for it to be oil at least once or twice a year.
How much did it cost you for all of the wood?
Thank you for watching. To be honest it’s been a while and I can’t really remember. Maybe around $250-$300 or so
QUESTION... why not Tung Oil in lieu of Mineral Oil as a finish coat...
Great question. I gave the clients a couple of options and they decided to go with mineral oils to make it super easy to reapply often.
@@arayawoodworks Your project turned out well.... BUT Nut oils (boiled linseed, tung, etc.) are drying oils, but vegetable (peanut, olive) and mineral oils are non-drying. Edible mineral oil is popular on food contact items, like cutting boards. (NOTE; Cutting boards are continually washed & treated for bacteria). But, they do not dry to a solid film. Non-drying oils are considered a wood treatment, but not a finish..
Thank you so much for the information! 😊 Definitely still learning about this craft
Looks great!
I would love to know what you charged for this piece and what the final dimensions were.
How much wood did you need?
To be honest I can’t remember. It was a while back. 😬
How much did this project cost ?
I believe I charged the clients about $500 since it was just the walnut countertop! It was a while back so I don’t fully remember 😂
Lmao
Wen face planer.
Ryobi miter saw
And enter the Festool Domino cutter. Which tool do you suppose was sponsor supplied. 😂😂
(No offense bro...nice block😄👍)
Nothin silkier than fine sanded & oil walnut.
I wished it was sponsored, I definitely had to save for that one though 😂 thank you for watching.
