TUMIL how long does it take you to make these
I split my curatorial projects in two phases; Accumulation and Finalizing tracklist/mix
Accumulating music for a project depends on the saturation and output of said genre, this will be weekly checks of music for anywhere from 2 months to 1 year or longer until I have around 5 hours or more of music for the project
Then I finalize the tracklist by process of elimination and making sure each track fits in a way to the next to create a flow.
For example for Dreampop Mix - Vol. 3, I had 7½ hours of music that was trimmed down to 2 hours once finalized.
All around it really depends on the musical output of a genre and whether these tracks fit what I'm looking for that can widely change how long these take, from 2 months, 6 months, or over a year. On average though it's usually around 3-6 months from concept to finish.
One of my biggest trims was Dreamcore Mix - Vol. 5. I accumulated 17 hours of music for that mix that was then trimmed down to the 3 hours of the final product
