Kat Von D was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Her family moved to LA when she was 4 years old. She started playing piano at the age of 5 and was inspired by her grandmother to pursue music. No one in her family drank or did drugs, a very religious family upbringing for her as a kid.
When Kat was 13, she discovered punk rock music, and that culture spoke to her. She always felt like an outcast, and this music made her feel like a part of something. She shaved her head, started tattooing her friends, and this really scared her parents. At the age of 15, her parents put her in the Provo Canyon boarding school. This was the same boarding school that Paris Hilton went to, and suffered abuse. Kat suffered abuse herself. After leaving the school, she started drinking to deal with the trauma she had just gone through.
Eventually, she found herself on the TLC TV series “Miami Ink” for 2 seasons. She eventually left the show and opened her own tattoo shop, and starred in the series “LA Ink”, where she stayed for four seasons. Kat’s drinking and partying started to get heavy around this time, and it started to take its toll on her. She decided to get sober in 2007, during the first season of LA Ink. She started the process, which was tough at first, but 14 years later, she has stuck with it and is still sober to this day.
In 2016, she met her husband Rafael Reyes (AKA Leafar Seyer) who is the main artist in the cholo-goth band Prayers. She was there for a music video appearance, but they really hit it off personally. They ended up getting married in 2018 and gave birth to their son later that year. She’s written 2 books, “High Voltage Tattoo” and “The Tattoo Chronicles”. She’s also started her own vegan makeup company, with 20% of the proceeds going to Project Chimps, an organization dedicated to providing care for retired research chimpanzees. Kat is vegan herself and wanted to make sure her make-up was cruelty-free for animals.
Now, she’s focusing on her family, finding the balance of doing her own projects, as well as family life. She also shares insights as to why she decided to move to a small town in Indiana. She’s also finally pursuing her music endeavors with a new album out “Love Made Me Do It”.

Kat talks about the back lash from people like you that point fingers at what to you looks unholy. Real evangelism and real followers of christ do so without leaving people out in the dust but rather inviting everyone in to enjoy the love. This isnt love. Everyone through Jesus shares their experiences and through music she has found an outlet to write about what once used to have holds on her... are you suggesting that anyone that finds Jesus must only write music that Glorifies Jesus? Having a relationship with Jesus doesnt look perfect and doesnt fit a cookie cutter shape. Post goth and atheist years in my youth, raised in church , and I'm now a Christian. I love Kat Van D's music and style....I love the way I can appreciate her art but also relate to her personally and life. It's really rare.

I love to hear someone like Kat Von D tell her story. I also love that she and her husband have decided to settle down about 60 miles from where I live. It’s a beautiful area that deserves to be valued. The term “flyover country” pisses me off because these people are the people who made the billionaires on the east and west coasts wealthy.

FYI at 6:58 minute mark if you look at the corner by the lamp next to Kat, just above it, a fast moving shadow moves fast into the wall from right to left. To me that may be a ghost or spirit. Her house looks like it would be a cool house with spirits. Lol. I wish I could slow it down to analyze it better. Did anyone else see it? Just after she talks about punk and power cords you see it. In any event, Kat is awesome. I’ve always admired her and it’s so nice to learn she is sober now and found her spiritual path.

I’ve always adored and admired Kat. She is always unapologetically her. The core of her hasn’t changed at all. If anything she has gotten better with age like fine wine. I love that she’s a voice for the voiceless and spreads her message of veganism and love on her socials. She also has an awesome vegan shoe line which I wished she mentioned… I own one. THIS! I have watched her for years and adored her for many reasons...strong woman, super smart, tattoos and of course beautiful. But I have an all time high amount of respect for how she has navigated life, dealt with issues and has completely fucking killed it. Kat, I am glad that your blinders were taken off, I can see that you truly are changed. I am ecstatic that you you have been open to the Lord and I do understand that you are new to the faith. No one is going to tell you what I am going to tell you, not even Ellie, but, the truth is that God did forgive you for your non belief and your sins, but one major sin that you're still practicing and you are not aware you are in it... The sin of divorce and remarriage. If you and your first husband were married to each other with no "ex's" in other words, if it was your first marriage for you and Oliver Peck, then that was a COVENANT marriage, and you are still bound to him. I cor 7:39. You have to be told the truth, infidelity or divorce though they violate the covenant doesn't dissolve it, only DEATH does. So, if you are in a second marriage after divorce, you are living in a state of adultery, and you must repent, get out of it. If Oliver Peck had a previous covenant wife, then you may be OK, I don't know all of the facts of your marriages or theirs. So, read Romans 7 :2-3, this could be you, and if so, you are still living in sin and I am trying to warn you to get out of your second marriage, it would be better for your soul. No one here, not even Ellie, she hasn't studies this fully.
I Cor 7:10-11 you ONLY have two options if you divorced your first husband, stay unmarried or reconcile, you chose unknowingly to remarry, means your in adultery.
You mentioned that you are going to a Baptist Church, most of them do not preach the truth about marriage, divorce and remarriage = adultery. Please watch these Pastors, they will not tickle our ears on this hard subject. Jack Hibbs is an ear tickly, he is blind to this.
Please Watch these, and you will understand that ALL other sins can be forgiven, even adultery, but you have to GET OUT of that second marriage, if you have a living covenant spouse, if he is dead, then you were free. Is he dead?
