As a regular traveller from Australia to Europe, I can tell you that the flight is a killer and does not get easier with age. Have flown many airlines but I consider Singapore to be the best.

@@namarrawalsh9260 Singapore is a better stop to get to Europe. The middle east is a vile place and I would never go back there to work seeing how all its countries treat low paid workers as slaves. For the same reason I refuse to transit through there as this benefits them financially.
I use to fly the Newark to Changi route in the early 2000s on A340s. Depending on the winds and routing it would take 17-22 hours. One time I slept for about 10 hours, didn’t drink any water and got sick from dehydration (alcohol may have been involved). I would love to do it on the 350 … bet it’s alot better with these modern airliners with improved ventilation, significant lower altitude cabin pressure, and humidifiers.
I wish I could have had a chance to fly the old A340's back when they were still around -- but the A350 is undoubtably a much better aircraft. Though yeah -- water helps lol. Thanks for watching!
I just flew on a Lufthansa A340-300 a few days ago from the Orlando to Frankfurt. It was a full flight from what I saw, and LH still has them scheduled on this route until the end of summer, according to their booking page.
This is one flight I would love to experience, but from Melbourne to Singapore is 8 hours minimum and from there to NY is 16 hours plus.....however Melbourne to LHR is just over 16 hours and that in J was an absolute pleasure, so the sheer indulgence is very tempting!
It's worth the journey just to spend a day at Changi airport. I was there 3 years ago and was blown away by it. I'd have to fly business class for a flight that long.
I've never yet had a below average flight on SIA but it has to be said that aside from the premium economy seat and cloth napkins with meals, it was indistinguishable from economy class. The meals and service were exactly the same.
I would agree -- SQ's premium economy is certainly a good product; but I wouldn't call it close to the best premium eco product by any means. Although considering it is the lowest class of service on *this* flight; and that they charge near-economy fares for this route -- you could also consider this a really good (like world's best good) economy class.
@@TheAirliner In some other SIA flight review, I remember someone commenting that some airlines implement premium economy as an upgrade from economy, whilst others implement it as a downgrade from business, so they retain more of the business class feel. 18 hrs flight. How many crews (flight operations/service on board) are there. The food, water (potable n non potable) fuel for n/s operations. Is it that practical So much weight or payload thnx
The mini bar at the rear of the A350 is a lot smaller than the one in the A340-500’s that SQ used to use on this flight. Also, as you point out, the food choice offered there is small. I remember on the A340 there was fresh fruit and muffins that the crew would heat for you.
I never had a chance to fly on the old A340's - but I believe this -- although I would wonder what the bar looks like in business class (if there is one!) as the A340's were configured with only business class.
@@TheAirliner The 5 aircraft were 9V-SGA- through to SGE . They were only configured all Business towards at the end of their time with SQ. In 2006, when I flew Singapore/Newark ( The non stop flights went to Newark and the one stop flights via Frankfurt went to JFK) and returned Los Angeles/Singapore, (same flight times) They were Business/Premium Economy with the split starting at the 3rd (from the front) door. So basically 65/35%. The layout in P/E was 2-3-2 and Business was 2-2-2. The P/E return fare was Sin $1225. (High for those days.) The secret to flying in Premium Economy in the A340-500's was to book the 1st row of seats on either side, which was an Emergency Exit row, the row being right on the just mentioned 3rd door on each side of the cabin, which i did for both the outbound and return sectors. On the outbound flight, aided by the young Sikh man who sat next to me, we measured "our" leg room and it was 86 inches, (7 foot 2) or 2m 13.3 cms. But the downside of traveling in those seats was that they were also the coldest in the cabin, due to having nothing around them and their proximity to the door. But having been forewarned, I took a windcheater to wear. The mini bar length was 3 window spaces on each side of the cabin at the back and it was next to the centrally located rear galley. Behind the galley there was a large open area of which ran 4 toilets and the access to the cabin crews private rest compartment. That open area acted as an overflow space and became a sort of meeting area where quite a few passengers stood around, talking to the crew on duty and other passengers, as they drank and ate. Think of it as an "Aerial Pub." There was another identically laid out one for Business class right at the front. Passengers were encouraged to get up and move around during the flight, as a way of combating DVT. I spent around 8 hours chatting away down there on each flight. I remember one American gent said he got a really good deal as he was learning to speak Mandarin and the crew on duty gave him a 2 hour Mandarin class into the bargain. The actual routes flown were interesting. Depending on weather, the return flights sometimes flew straight up over Canada, over the pole and down over Central Asia and other times over Greenland then across Britain and Europe. The route to Los Angeles was up over the Bering Sea and returned straight across the Pacific Ocean, flying north of the Hawaiian Islands to Guam and then straight over the Philippines. SQ did claim that they actually, lost money on each flight, even when it was all Business and had a high load factor. (Most flights were booked out,) so they stopped the service until more economical to run aircraft became available. Like you said on your video, it is the best way to get to/from the USA from Singapore and look forward to doing it again now that the world is slowly returning to normal
Hubby used to don’t care about airline carriers . SQ has always been my fav and the last time I had Hubby flew in this flight , he just doze of in the premium economy and could not believe his eyes when he woke up there is only 1 hour before landing ! Since then whenever we need to fly he will ask if SQ fly these destinations 😊
Subscribed and looking forward to more videos from you. Some of your written commentary could use a little more air time before disappearing. Had to rewind and hit pause couple times to read. Overall, great vid on this LHF from Singapore Airlines.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed -- I just published another video; where a new text style should hopefully fix the problem (more air time + more contrast).
Longest flight ever for me was Singapore to London flying SQ. That was 14 hours and 20 minutes. Admittedly, this particular flight took a little bit longer than usual (most were under 14 hours). But at least I'm used to long hauls now, and I would not be afraid to do SIN/JFK one day.
That's pretty long. For me, the flights that have felt the longest are the ones around 13 hours long - because you am expecting flights like this to be long; but those 13 hour ones really hit you.
I once flew 17 hours non-stop from Los Angeles to Bangkok Thailand! I was trying to save 2-3 hours on a non-stop flight but it was pure torture in economy class! This trip was in 2008 on an Airbus A340-500. Eventually, this non-stop flight ceased and now there is a stop in Seoul Korea.
Huh - I had no idea that route even existed - but I would have loved to try it! This flight -was a huge timesaver and I would love to see more like it (including maybe reinstating LAX to bangkok???) but I doubt there are many routes of such far distances that have the demand between them that Singapore & New York do.
There was not much demand on this route plus THA have been downgraded by the FAA to category 2 so they can't fly to the US. THA operated LAX-BKK and JFK- BKK thus the non-stop flights but since other airlines now fly the route, they will have to do a layover at their respective hubs. The 340 is a far cry from the 350 so maybe you'll have a different experience this time around.
The flight in Nov this year show a 0045 departure. It would be nice if the flight left in the day like yours. Loved everything about the video. This is the ultimate flight for any AvGeek. Were you not able to book the single seats at the back. Hopefully will be Mask free by Nov 2022. The transition to darkness in the middle of the video was nicely done.
Nice video and footage !! a little suggestion tho...=D - about comments (in captions), some are too long, and cut a bit too fast, so we need to rewind and re-read them...xD, you could also put them in batch of shorter comments, and try using some templates to enhance it's appearance. Keep up the great work...i'm still learning to do a great trip video report as well.... i'll travel later on SQ22 and 23 this December in J class..., I managed to get the 10A on EWR SIN leg ..hehe.
Thanks for the feedback -- I'll try to do better in my next review. I often have a time crunch in which I want to get in as much information as possible while fitting into either the amount of clip recorded (usually about 7 seconds per clip) or into a beat in which I cut to (when music is playing) -- but I will try to do better next time. Thanks for watching!

Once flew BA Hong Kong to London, 15 hours non stop. Took off in the dark, dark all the way. didn't see one light outside after take off till we arrived in London. Good service back then in 1991, but no seat back entertainment back then. Due to Covid I've not flown since 2019. Looking forward to restrictions easing more.
I honestly have no idea how you could make a flight like this without entertainment - it seems so long! I'm sure the service was amazing, though.
1990
I flew on the Jumbo jet from Changi to LA via Japan s narita on a SIA flight landing at L A on All Fools Day it was a good trip without any turbulence The command Pilot made a perfect landing sans jerks or bumps Singapore Airlines is one of the best travel options for a long haul trip of 16 hours Three cheers to S I A
Are you trying to drive me nuts with the music, 🤣
It's very annoying 😒
I RATHER LIKE THIS VIDEO LESS TAKING MORE VIEWS TO SEE, BRAVO
Great video!! I miss flying with SIA :(
Had the same long trip CGK - SIN, SIN - JFK in 1997 with SQ B747, but via Amsterdam. No doubt that SQ had the best services at that time.
And they still do!
How far is Johannesburg international airport or Tambo to sydney Australia airport and new zealand Auckland airport
18 hrs flight. How many crews (flight operations/service on board) are there. The food, water (potable n non potable) fuel for n/s operations. Is it that practical So much weight or payload thnx
thank you this was so informative !
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Just subscribed !!!
Nice video
Thanks 😊
Subscribed and looking forward to more videos from you.
Some of your written commentary could use a little more air time before disappearing. Had to rewind and hit pause couple times to read. Overall, great vid on this LHF from Singapore Airlines.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed -- I just published another video; where a new text style should hopefully fix the problem (more air time + more contrast).
I flew the Singapore Air from LAX to Singapore 17 hrs in economy last month. Not bad at all but it helped I had a exit row seat.
I just flew on Singapore Air and it is good service and the airport is truly stunning.
May I know how many meals serve during this flight? I will flying with this flight in September.
i subbed, loved the video!
Thank you so much -- I'm glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing this video!
*you ARE. typo.
Well documented video. Love it.
I am a cabin crew we had a flight from banglore to San Francisco which was for 18 hrs 35 min ...dts what we call longest flight duration.
Very well done... Excellent editing. ... MInd if I ask what you filmed it with? Go Pro?
I don't see any acknowledgement for the background music anywhere.
Somebody recorded it surely?
Can you use random bits of music without attribution?
Really curious, is flying up north actually making the distance much shorter ? I wonder how it compares if you just draw a straight line through
Your camera work is very good
This is not the world's longest flight. The flight from EWR (Newark) is scheduled for 19:10. I just booked a flight. So maybe this is #2 ?
Nice video and footage !! a little suggestion tho...=D - about comments (in captions), some are too long, and cut a bit too fast, so we need to rewind and re-read them...xD, you could also put them in batch of shorter comments, and try using some templates to enhance it's appearance. Keep up the great work...i'm still learning to do a great trip video report as well.... i'll travel later on SQ22 and 23 this December in J class..., I managed to get the 10A on EWR SIN leg ..hehe.
How come didnt fly via Atlantic ... nearer to NYC
Please leave subtitles a bit longer: very irritating to continuesly rewind to read till the end because a new subtitle already appeared. Thanks a lot.
No regular economy like other SA flights?
Thank you, I enjoy this.
Nice video
Thank you
Singapore Airlines. Is the best of the best!
Did I miss breakfast? I don't recall you mentioning it.
Good afternoon interesting flight. How did you book or get this flight please. Thanks
Thanks! I booked this flight directly on Singaporeair.com, in cash.
19:17 that marshaller on the ground was having a party with his glowsticks!
Only fun he's gonna have...sure won't be the $10/hour...
Nice video but would have liked if more of the inside of the plane was shown.
Singapore airlines stands head and shoulders above the other airlines in the industry... And thats saying alot
