🔊 Bart Bonte - CEO, Moderna Products - "Automating the warehouse was a logical step. We have a fairly automated production unit. The logistics was to follow. We’d thought about that for a long time, but there’s a few reasons why we did that. The first one is space, or footprint. The footprint we have today - our automated warehouse versus a normal warehouse - we would have to multiply the space by 4 or 5, which we don’t really have here. The second reason, also, the ecological reason. Having an automated warehouse, we don’t have to put heating, we don't have to put lighting in there. So, it’s a factor that helps, of course. And then there’s the economic aspect: trying to reduce the labour that we apply to the warehouse, which we succeeded in doing. And very important also is safety, remembering that in a normal warehouse, you see a lot of forklift trucks driving back and forth."
