Had mainstream pop + hip-hop/r&b infused pop instead, after that there were only outsiders like rock, nu metal, soul, with bits of emo pop/rock & alt rock as well as some moves towards electronic club scene/techno like euro pop & house etc. 2007/08 was when things started to show a lot more variation as many indie or other sub-genre infused bands started to gain notoriety, eventually inspiring more mainstream folks like Gorillaz or even OneRepublic to take a more ‘nothing to lose’ approach at songwriting.

I remember driving to the airport to pick up my long-distance girlfriend to show her around my hometown for the first time. This song, and Waves by Mr. Probz were what were playing before she walked out of the terminal. I love this song. Especially the 0:48 part. It's such a shame that it didn't chart in Poland. This song brings back beautiful and probably unforgettable memories since I discovered the song in probably 2013. Also, this is one of the reasons why I also produce music. And the very cool thing here is that the drum pattern goes kick snare kick clap! I didn't hear any other song with the kick snare kick clap drum pattern before this!
