    Been enjoying your videos these past months. I will be attempting my first Camino at the end of May, starting in Valenca Portugal. My plan is to arrive in Santiago on a Saturday with my departure on Monday, train to Madrid & a flight back to Lisbon for 2 nights. If I am up to it, I may try the walk to your favorite sandwich shop on Sunday & bus or taxi back. That is if the business is open on a Sunday. -- Safe Travels --

      See how you feel, of course, but if you're craving a bit of an extra walk, that first stage out of Santiago is a good one (there's a decent climb, too!). It's nice to know that it's very easy to get back to Santiago from Negreira. Enjoy your first Camino!!

    Yeah, when you've been on a roll it is tough to stop. Of course, you know I have a soft spot for the stick/s. Cheers and Adventure on!

    How does catching a bus on the Camino route work? Where do you catch it? ask around for a bus depot? buy a ticket on line? pay as you board?
    Any details would be helpful!

    Why did you have to leave your walking stick back?

    • @NadineWalks
      @NadineWalks  7 місяців тому

      It was the very end of my walk, and it's too difficult to travel home with it (well, I did ship a walking stick home with me after my second Camino, but it turned into quite the ordeal and the stick warped during the flight!!)

    ...always lovely to see your posts popping up, Nadine, and this is a real shorty!
    Made me reflect on what I did after my 2 caminos... on the first one I had enough, even 'kind of' unlimited time, as I planned to book last minute a long-distance bus Santiago-Basel (lived then at the Swiss-German border)... so after 2 nights in Santiago I did the walk to Finisterre... missed out on your baguette place - I had a bit of food poisoning from eating mussels the evening before - so that day all my body could take, was fruit (pears), yoghurt and water, which turned out to be the perfect cure!! Then on to the coast - fond memories!!! 2nd walk 5 years later, I didn't fare so well with my choices... stayed in Santiago a few nights, saw all my fellow peregrino friends leaving and felt a bit lost and lonely... should have walked to Muxia instead, which in the meantime I found out, must be amazing!! ...next time!
    Ultreya, dear Nadine! 😎

    • @NadineWalks
      @NadineWalks  8 місяців тому

      Yes, next time will be Muxia! (and since the first stage to Muxia is the same as Finisterre, you can stop by the sandwich place, because surely you won't have food poisoning twice!!)

    Which Albergue was that in Santiago? The walk to the Cathedral was not a view I remember.

    • @NadineWalks
      @NadineWalks  8 місяців тому +2

      This is the Albergue Seminario Menor! Just a bit outside of the city center, but a great place to stay (there are hostel beds but for not much more, you can get a basic, private room)

      Hmm well, upon further digging, it seems as though saying "ten of, quarter of, etc" is common in certain regions in the US, especially the northeast (where I am!). Very interesting! I'm going to have to ask friends/family about this...
