Neglected Pittie Saved From A Life Of Starvation | Dog Rescuers | Pets & Vets

  • This Week on Dog Rescuers, a rescued pitbull is emaciated after not being allowed to eat, drink or even sleep in it's own bed. Another RSPCA investigator rescues two dogs from a potentially dangerous home filled with rubbish.
    Dogs are the nation's favorite pet, but seeing how they can be treated might make you think otherwise. Comedian Alan Davies takes us into the world of dog rescuers, where we follow the RSPCA officers who are tasked with investigating reports of cruelty and neglect when it comes to man's best friend.

    The relationship between homeless people and their dogs is really something special that can’t be properly described. Through thick and thin they stay together, as partners, as family. It’s beautiful.

    • @mcsmith732
      @mcsmith732 Рік тому +1

      I notice that for the most part, the dogs are eating better than their homeless humans. That's a real partnership.
      It's a far cry from many of those dogs who are being starved and neglected by cruel and abusive humans who have a house, and a steady income. Sometimes one can see that while the owner may be starving and neglecting their critter(s), they sure aren't depriving themselves of food or anything else.
      I really feel for the guy with the messy house. It's easy to let the cleaning and maintenance get away from one.
      But the guy sure does take good care of his critters.

    People who torture animals by starvation should be banned forever from having any animal and as such receive regular visits from the authorities to check if they hold on to that decision.
    Also fines and jail time should be brought in the equation in order to make sure no other animal would replace the saved one.
    I think the dog the owners of the starving pittie had before,simply perished by starvation 😥

    ***Alan, have you hugged your Blue Whale today?? Love seeing the rescue portion, once they get vet treatment and begin to be socialized, it's the horrible living conditions that they're in at the beginning that really gets to me and makes me misty.
    There was a show on cable, late 90s-
    early aughts, similar conditions in either the Dallas or Houston area, and included with dog, cat issues, they were also involved with farm animals, mainly horses, donkeys, goats. But although all were very horrible, it was the horses that really struck me. Horses left for dead, no feed, no water, ribs, vertibrae, hip bones clearly visible, some laid flat that had to have mechanical assistance to get into the trailer, some, even though given immediate critical vet care, eventually died shortly thereafter. And because everything in Texas is bigger, the dog, cat overcrowding, fecal and urine covering everything, bigger houses, more animals, just beyond imagination.
    Conditions like this being rescued are a whole mixed bag, varying from different parts of the state, and different states. Many areas, police refuse to get involved, animal welfare agencies do not get support from any other local agencies. The Texas area that I saw was very much on top of this and did get assistance, with people getting fined, brought before a judge, some even jailed. I don't know how the Chicago and suburbs deal with this
    (near me), but nowhere as responsive
    as Texas.
    So, as I said, the abuse is hard to take, but I'll make it to the rescue part. I also watch Bondi Vet, Vet on the hill, in London, and the Bionic vet, you MUST see Bionic Vet Noel Fitzpatrick
    Regards, and TTFN
    QI fan, T.

      Mari we have 5 at this time. Lost one back in October- due to cushings,pancreatic disease and diabetic. Lewis had slept with us since I purchased him at 7 weeks of age from one of my patients. After that---coworkers and friends gave us dogs that had been abused and/or thrown away. We LOVE each one of these tiny furbabies. We will soon loose a "Rabbit Chihuahua"--Buddy as he has lymphoma and is nearly 15. His sister was also given to us nearly 13 years ago. SHE will be a mess without her BUBBA. Our newest addition--ALSO thrown into the streets, is a sweet female white terrier. Around 10. Her left front leg never grew from puppyhood. While Odie--a Chihuahua/Jack Russel mix---is the baby of the bunch and the craziest AND most loving little boy. He was also tossed out as just a baby. A friend brought him to us--her Mom said "NO" to more additions. Odie ended up having parvo. A simple $15 vaccination would have prevented him from being so ill and US from the $1450 plus we spent to save him. WE love and NEED each and every one of these wonderful dogs. Yikes--forgot to mention Sissy. She and Lewis were our first 2. HE needed the company while we worked. SHE needed the quiet of our home. These animals fill a spot left empty after all the kids left home. When we have love to give--saving animals is a gift to ourselves

      We DO have public housing. Some call it "the projects" . Rents are lowered to persons income. We also have many agencies to help. We could do better with the homeless and many don't want to go to a shelter, cause they couldn't drink or drug there. Help with mental health and drug addiction is what they need. I moved to a state that doesn't have enough help. But some is here, if people will use it.

So I do wonder about other terribly thin dogs on channels and IF they survived. Just no excuse for having a dog, in a cage with no food/water, etc. Their a living creature and IF you have it, you're responsible. Not sure HOW someone can neglect a dog like this one was. Maybe a psch exam is needed. Well done Anthony.

    confiscate the big houses in the country where only f.e. two people live in. More then about 200 homeless people could find a home in each of those x 1000 or more, etc. A room would be enough for all of this homeless people. To relax and find peace.

    This show is widely watched in the USA, but we don't know how to equate kilos to pounds. Could you please start telling us the weight in pounds also?

      Multiply by 2.2.

    • @m6666
      @m6666 Рік тому

      You can always google it, or just double it. When watching USA shows I always have to halve the weight from pounds to kilos, it gets you close enough.

    *Not interested in solving the mystery?* (maybe it's not a mystery, because they know why)
    I would only "suspect" intentional neglect because of their reluctance to find out why their dog is so thin.
    _But jumping to conclusions before the dog has been medically assessed, is simply ignorant._
    However, if they were feeding her, then _"it's a medical mystery",_ and one that they should be driven to solve. (but they are not)

      He was seeking help for both his addiction and Kara. By surrendering Kara, he was doing the best thing for her. Overcoming addiction is not a short or easy process, and it's not fair to the dog to have to live through that process as well. It is sad that it happened, but Stefan made the difficult and correct decision.

      Not all animals are bad, like not all human beings are kind, you are one of the example. I think they should incarcerate you, so you cannot harm people & animals.

      You're kidding, right? Pit bulls are only dangerous if they are abused. It's not far to end an animal's life just because it's a particular breed. You don't seriously believe that all pit bulls must die, do you?

      She came around and found a lovely home and is a lovely, sweet dog. NOT all pitties are mean or violent. Caution, but don't automatically assume the worst and blame the animal. You were wrong to not want to give it a chance. Maybe you have issues.
