@@donaldwortham2409 It's the popular India Paper as noted on the title page. The paper is soft - it feels like newsprint but not as fragile or discolored. It's easy to turn the pages, but not too thin. Might be 28 GSM... I"m not sure. But there is very little readthrough... opacity is great. The bible is 1" thick, including the sturdy cover which remains in great condition after 46 years. I can't say enough about it.
@@carbonbiker yeah I like mine also. I use it for slimline. It looks like a mini longprimer 53. It's red letter but not in acts and Revelation so I used a marker on that. My longprimer 53 has red gold guilt but my Concord navy blue goatskin a blue silver guilt.
Huge deal breaker! I refuse to buy a bible with that false prophets name on it! Also, I disagree with the reviewers assessments of the newer Allans. I've had new, I've had old, and frankly some things got better and some things worse. For example, I recently purchased an Allan 53 Long Primer speckled. In terms of quality, it's phenomenal. In my opinion, a step up better than the older versions. The printing has improved, the India paper has improved, and the text block is excellent. My only complaint is the gilt lines. I wish they were more solid. Some areas show more detail than others. But aside from that, the quality is top notch. Even my newer, Cambridge Concords are phenomenal. As good as they've ever been!

It’s all those aesthetics including the typeface and binding work you and others do that might draw an extra minute for someone in. Maybe that minute is all that’s needed.
I purchased a Cambridge Pitt Minion KJV Bible in June 1963. Last year I purchased the same bible in the NKJV translation. It remains in excellent condition.
Me2Lancer The NKJV is not the same bible as the KJV Bible. It is corrupt. It's not from the same manuscripts as the KJB. You'll get wrong doctrine from it. Compare, for instance, 1Cor.1:18. The NKJV corrupts the gospel in this verse...a person is either saved or not ("being saved" is not what God's word says). Also, compare Matthew 7:14....The word of God (KJV) says "narrow is the way", but the NKJV changes it to "difficult is the way". There are so many more corruptions in the NKJV, it's spiritually dangerous to read that instead of the KJB. "For we are not as many which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ."(2Cor.2:17).

I have a 40's World Publishing Company Leather zip up KJV. They came in a nice wooden box. With a cross & Holy Bible engraved and a large picture of Jesus inside glued to the back. It's pretty much stayed in perfect condition.

I wish Allan would go back to the 1950's Longprimer that had italics. No italics is such a disappointment. I love the look and feel of their bibles but I find myself using a non premium TBS Westminster just because it offers so much more in the text :(
Love the turquoise but the paper is too thin. RL allan 53 and 63's are amazing, just wish the font was as dark as Turquoise :-(... 2018 Canterbury's are the best of both worlds!
You'd be amazed what you might find at Half Priced Books on premium editions. I got my first premium (water buffalo Cambridge Concord in KJV with India paper) for just $10. It had no writing in it, no tears, and the cover was perfect for a 1978 publishing date. The only downside at all was that all the gold printing on the cover was completely gone, which is no issue for me. You may not find one the first visit, but if you go back every so often you could get lucky like I did.
As a Catholic I yearn to see Catholic bibles done as well as these. It may be a niche, but man, I'd love to see something put out in goatskin much like the KJV you first showed!
I feel the same way. I use the Knox Bible on my day to day life, and Baronius Press did a great job with theirs, but I got a copy of the Cambridge KJV (with Apocrypha) for the purposes of reading an important English literary work and I was amazed at how nice it is.

Huge deal breaker! I refuse to buy a bible with that false prophets name on it! Also, I disagree with the reviewers assessments of the newer Allans. I use the Knox Bible on my day to day life, and Baronius Press did a great job with theirs, but I got a copy of the Cambridge KJV (with Apocrypha) for the purposes of reading an important English literary work and I was amazed at how nice it is.
Instead of yearning for a good-looking bible, you must yearn for Jesus Christ, therefore abiding by The Holy Scriptures by you, along with all (roman)catholics, leaving that unbiblical and heretical synagogue of Satan that (roman)catholicism is.

The Authorized Holy King James 1611 is intrinsically undisputedly authoritative, unfailingly reliable and, above all, unequivocally Biblical: it is the ideal one.
If you can't speak/understand English, you can learn to speak/understand English.

The Sovereign Lord of the universe is not anonymous. He has identified himself some 7,000 times in the Bible as Jehovah. He attributes vital importance to his name. The third of the Ten Commandments states: “You must not take up the name of Jehovah your God in a worthless way, for Jehovah will not leave the one unpunished who takes up his name in a worthless way.” And Jesus highlighted his Father’s name in the Lord’s Prayer, saying, “Let your name be sanctified.”-Exodus 20:7; Matthew 6:9.
Christendom’s record in honoring God’s name is dismal. Even the King James Bible of 1611 uses the name Jehovah, alone and in combination, only seven times. Other translations have totally eliminated the name. Most religions fail to honor it. Instead, they have elevated their “holy” Trinity and, in some cases, Mary the so-called Mother of God above the God of the Bible. Jehovah’s precious name has been allowed to sink into relative disuse. The King James Bible has already been changed; today no one reads the King James Version in its original form. Explaining why this is so the book The Bible in Its Ancient and English Versions says: “Almost every edition, from the very beginning, introduced corrections and unauthorized changes and additions, often adding new errors in the process. The edition of 1613 shows over three hundred differences from 1611. . . . It was in the eighteenth century, however, that the main changes were made. . . . The marginal references were checked and verified, over 30,000 new marginal references were added, the chapter summaries and running headnotes were thoroughly revised, the punctuation was altered and made uniform in accordance with modern practice, textual errors were removed, the use of capitals was considerably modified and reduced, and a thorough revision made in the form of certain kinds of words.”
So many changes have been made, many of them in the readings of passages, that the Committee on Versions (1851-56) of the American Bible Society found 24,000 variations in six different editions of the King James Version!
What, then, of the objections raised by persons who say they do not want the King James Bible changed? Since the King James Version has already been changed, they lie on a crumbled foundation. If these persons do not want it changed, then why do they use, instead of a copy of an edition of 1611, an edition that has been changed? They use a present-day edition of the King James Bible because it is far easier to read. They appreciate, perhaps unknowingly, the improvements the later editions have made. They do not like the odd spelling and punctuation of the 1611 edition; they do not want to read “fet” for “fetched,” “sith” for “since” or “moe” for “more,” as the edition of 1611 had it. Thus improvement, when needed, is appreciated, even by those who say they object to any changing of the King James translation. No, God himself authorizes his dedicated servants to translate his Word into understandable language. The fact that King James authorized a Bible translation does not make it the exclusive version that the Author of the original Bible approves his servants to use in any one language. In fact, kingly authorization, instead of great benefits, has brought serious disadvantages.
King James set forth certain rules of procedure. These the translators followed. One of those rules was that “the old Ecclesiastical words [were] to be kept.” Thus the translators were bound to follow the Bishop’s Bible in using certain ecclesiastical words, whether or not these words represented an accurate translation of the original Bible. For example, the ecclesiastical word “bishop” appears in the King James Version, although the original word, correctly translated, merely means “overseer.”
In many respects the beliefs of King James adversely affected the Bible translation called after his name. The translators, feeling somewhat bound to favor the king, were obliged to color the translation with the king’s notions of predestination and kingly rights, as well as with others of the king’s ideas.
It is also apparent from the fact that some of the translators complained that they could not follow their own judgment, being restrained by “reasons of state.” The result: the King James Version is not a true reflection of the minds of the translators of the version. Above all, it comes far short of being a faithful reflection of the mind of Jehovah God, as it appears in the original manuscripts.
None of these are the best KJV bibles ever made.
