I was an alcoholic all throughout my 20s. Nearly 6 years sober. Rock bottom is hell. Blacking out multiple times a day, rarely eating, vomiting daily, getting arrested, alienating yourself from everybody, and so much more misery. It's not easy but it's possible to claw through it. You have to have the strength to face everything that's haunting you and figure out how you're going to deal with it. Then you have to boss up and deal with it. Conquering addiction takes time and there is no bouncing back overnight. Your brain needs time to heal and the road is long. It's often very dark. When you finally feel comfortable and confident in your sobriety it is imperative to stay busy. Put your talent and hard work into something that makes you happy and something you can feel a sense of accomplishment with. I could go on forever. If you're reading this and you're struggling, FIGHT! You really can do this.

I think it’s more so the mentality and emotional state of the QB. Sometimes when you’ve just done what Bennett did at Georgia, yeah it’s a lot of pressure. But spiritual warfare is real and I think that he should focus on praying to God for a personal relationship with Jesus and if he has one already. I leave in Athens Georgia and what I heard what happened with JT Daniels not playing is that he got hurt earlier in the season and at some point the team doctors said he was good to go but Daniels went to his own Doctor and he said he should wait so that's what Daniels did. Kirby didn't like that very much so when Daniel's doctor said he was good to go Kirby decided to be spiteful and make him sit out until Bennett started messing up but he never did and the rest is history.
Hope this guy is well and remain so. I grew up around alcoholics and they are the reason I never touched the stuff known people who quit wished they would have never started.
His interviews on good morning america the day after winning the chip with Georgia should've been a huge red flag. He was absolutely obliviated at 9am the next morning... pretty hysterical interview actually. Good for the young man, I hope he makes a heroic comeback.
A young man being hungover after winning the national championship for his dream team after a 41 year drought? Yep. Definitely screams alcoholism. Everybody needs to stop assuming it was alcoholism. Dude got drunk publicly just TWICE after winning a HUGE ACCOLADE, and now all of a sudden people think he’s some alcoholic. It was never revealed what it actually was. People need to lay off him and just stop trying to speculate.
👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I'm happy that he got that situated! Thanks for the insight and a big hand clap to you for not making him look like a bad person! Great content! I think it will be good to know what happened to JT Daniels
MattBeGreat, I would love to see you make a video on Kurt Warner. His journey to the NFL is amazing. He was truly one of the best quarterbacks, both on the field and off the field. He is truly one of the good guys. I hope you consider doing a video about Kurt Warner. Thanks
JT Daniel’s started his college football career at USC, transferred to Georgia and lost his job to Stetson “DoorDash” Bennett, then transferred to west Virginia, didn’t really workout, then transferred again to rice where he spent his last year playing football and medically retired due to multiple concussions
He gave his high school and his college some great years. I am personally grateful for what he did for the Georgia football program and the great games he gave us fans. All he wants now is a chance and the Rans are big enough to do that for him. Even if it is just as a backup for a couple of years. Wishing only the best.
JT Daniels is/was a local Orange County California Phenom, only 3 true freshmen (14-15 yrs old vs 18 yrs old seniors) started QB for one of the best Highschool programs in the country MATER DEI HS in Santa Ana, Ca. Todd Marinovich (Raiders) , Matt Barkley (10 NFL teams) and JT Daniels were the only 3 to do this at Powerhouse Mater Dei. (coincidentally all 3 went on to start as freshmen at USC) Daniels had an above avg. Freshman year at USC but was injured second game of his Sophomore year. Kedon Slovis took over and did well, so JT sat the bench after recovering. his Jr year he transfered to Georgia, played two years there and was injury prone, he went to PITT and started, then transferred to RICE, he recieved yet another one of multiple concussions at RICE and was medically retired on 12-1-2023. I have heard post college interviews with him and he wants to go into coaching, he is a happy go lucky guy who had bad luck with injuries, Fight On JT!
For those wondering: JT Daniels transferred to West Virginia in 2022 and was benched midway through the season after going 3-6 (West Virginia finished the season 5-7 with Garret Greene at QB). He transferred to Rice in 2023 and was knocked out with a concussion during a loss to SMU. Prior to losing to SMU, the team was 4-4 with Daniels and ultimately finished 6-7. JT Daniels medically retired from football after that and is now an offensive analyst for West Georgia in Division II football.
Yep you should definitely do a video on JT Daniels. Also you should do a video on Deondre Francois. I remember when he led his team to victory over Michigan in the 2016 Orange Bowl I thought he was gonna be the next big thing. After his injury vs. Bama in the Chick Fil A kickoff game I haven't heard from him since
Francois had a lot of issues off the field including one in which he & his girlfriend got into a dispute that all over social media & he was kicked off the FSWho--I mean FSU-team. He currently plays for the DC Defenders in the UFL
NCAA thinks they're above fair-use clauses and copyright claims anything that even smells like it was from one of their broadcasts. It's not worth fighting psychos like that even you're using the content for educational/commentary purposes, which is legal. "Rebroadcasting" a game would be a legitimate copyright claim. But UA-cam immediately sides with the party making the claim while it investigates and hides the video until it's complete, whenever that'd be. In reality though, they don't investigate often as that costs time and money, so they'll just strike your channel. You only get 2 strikes lifetime. The third, they just delete your channel. So, no messing with NCAA material.
I will never forget those 2 years at UGA. He balled out every weekend and killed it in all the playoff/championship games. Such a good time to be a Dawg fan.
You left out the fact that he played probably the worst game ever against Bama in the SEC championship, which didn’t mean much, but I thought it was crazy that he came back in that national championship and played out of his mind while that was still fresh on his mind. That to me showed a tremendous amount of resilience. So I believe whether it’s on or off the field, Bennett has the mind set to do great things in his life.

If you look at the games he played better is 2021 than in 2022. He had a 4 game streak in 22 with no TD, 6 total games without a TD and less than 50% completion, and if watched the games it was obvious that he was under the influence of something. Monken is a genius for being able to win back to back national championships with that kind of inconsistency. After the 21 season he really started to act out around town, and he pretty much ruined his reputation around Athens in 22. He was at the UT Martin game in 2023 but Kirby wouldn't let him on the sideline because he was drunk. He got thrown out of the stadium for trying to start a fight over a seat. He definitely has a drug/drinking problem and everyone in Athens knew it.

Thank you Matt. I was wondering what happened to this guy. I'm glad he's doing okay though. I'm a Texas longhorn fan but you got to give Georgia the flowers back-to-back championships🎉
These “what happened” videos are just 12-14 minutes of a recap of their career that most people already know and then 3-5 minutes of actually what happened
@@OneOut1 How am I supposed to criticize the video if I haven’t watched it? I didn’t click on the video to see a recap of Bennet’s career (which is like 90% of the video), I clicked on it to see what happened to him, like the title would suggest. Why can’t I call that out? Nothing inherently wrong with it, just a lazy way to stretch out the video for more ads.
God bless him. Hope he greats a chance to show some flashes of what we think he can be. Especially in today's game. Backups seem to be getting more chances than ever. Maybe he'll prove he's a #1 like how he did at Georgia. Thanks for the video!
He's a low end backup at best. And, correction... he didn't look good in preseason. Below average arm strength and a ton of interceptions and interception worthy passes vs vanilla defenses with practice squad DBs.
As a Rams fan, this was the best team he could go to The culture is very strong here. It's rare that a GM and Coach lets a rookie take a FULL YEAR off for mental health reasons. But he's looking good in OTA's. Now all he has to do is sit behind and learn from Matthew Stafford and Jimmy. I ain't worried about it
Ram fan here. Been following his story the last year. He's doing good and back with the team and I'm betting he takes over in the 2025 season as the starter.
If it was an alcoholism issue, there likely would have been some sort of reports of him checking into a rehab facility of some sorts. I'd lean towards this being something mental health related, either depression based or based on the behavior of when he was arrested, I think something along the lines of a bipolar disorder brought on by depression. Either way, hopefully he's gotten things ironed out and on the right meds or therapy to keep him on the right path to health.
As a Rams fan I still believe that he can play this game wouldn't be surprised if he ball out in preseason earning the qb2 spot over jimmy g, might be a good bridge qb when stafford retires or he might go above my expectations an becomes the future cus kurt didn't become a nfl qb until 27 an retired at 38
Great presentation of this video. Great hearing that he took care of his "monkey of his back." I'm a Trojan but proud of Bennett for his taking care of business!
As a lifelong Bama fan, I cannot stand Bennett's smarmy smirk. If our receivers hadn't gone down, Alabama would've won that game. Regarding alcoholism, it sucks. This culture will shun and cancel you if you smoke a cigarette, but alcohol is glorified, pushed and celebrated at every turn. We need to do better.
Smoking cigarettes used to be the thing. Now its alcohol, in 30 years it’ll be weed. You could argue its been vapes for some time. Everyone learns eventually, and picks a new substance
"I know what you're thinking/saying" or "you might be thinking"...I am so sick of those fillers. Literally amateur public speaking, you might as well include the "umms" and "ya know" as well. Alright, all jokes aside, I appreciate your videos, you got a good personality and make it fun to learn.
Mental health and addiction goes hand and hand and unfortunately many people still don't recognize that however I know from experience the right medication can help addiction good luck in finding the right medication that can take years
@@timczarkowski6165that’s unequivocally false. Everyone embraced him midway through the first natty run. Have no idea what you’re talking about. The year he got criticism was the Covid year where he threw two games away
That UGA Bama championship game for the natty that year though, a lot of starters were out for that game. This was the first game that started Bama's slide. Started in that game with the backups being more poorly coached. That season Bama was only rushing for 3.2 yards per carry at best. But the difference of when the starters were in crushed UGA in the SECCG. We can all pretend though that it didn't make a difference but it did. At the presser Saban threw his own backups under the bus and said, they weren't prepared and they should have been. lol . UGA has never beaten Bama in any SECCG.
What really happened was he was the quarterback of possibly the most talented team in college football history.. pfft the entire team is in the nfl now. He was just surrounded by a ridiculous amount of talent and was a good college player. (Also because he’s like 25 years old in college)
Right. No knock to Stetson (or Carson tbh) but quarterback play at Georgia is not that important. As long as u can take care of the ball and put it in the right place you’ll win games there. Kirby doesn’t necessarily want/need any legit dual threats
Thank you for making the door dash Stesson Bennett video. You did an awesome job. I hope he has got his problems behind him and goes on to have a successful career. I would really enjoy something about JT Daniels.🏈🏈🏈

His arm looked pretty good in College.
As a Rams fan, this was the best team he could go to
The culture is very strong here.
2025 starter?!?!?!? I didn't know Georgia granted him an extra year of eligibility
Good to see he's back w the team...I hope Stetson sees some success in his career.
The qb always looks good when he has talent around him
Well, that was 19 minutes of nothing that we didn't already know . . . 🙄🙄🙄
As a Rams fan I still believe that he can play this game wouldn't be surprised if he ball out in preseason earning the qb2 spot over jimmy g, might be a good bridge qb when stafford retires or he might go above my expectations an becomes the future cus kurt didn't become a nfl qb until 27 an retired at 38
Hopefully he can overcome his issues and get back to football. The Rams coaching staff and management have handled the situation to date well.
He realized he wasn't that good without 5 star recruits around him
As Georgia fan Hate to see what happened to Stetson. I’m very glad to see he’s back!!!
You should make a transfer portal recap vid
He beat Alabama without Jameson Williams & Metchie. The same 2 people who lit them up just a few weeks before! 😂
How old was he again playing in college
34
Double take - thought Bennett walked out of jail with an ice cream cone. Baller. 😂
That’s awesome I wish him the best!! Facing your demons is so important!!
Study under Stafford. Stay sober. Build positive connections with friends and family. Wait for the opportunity to kick some tail in the NFL.
That my Dawg! No mention of Matthew Stafford, another legendary Bulldog and still one of the best arms the game has ever seen! Go Dawgs!
I wish him well in all aspects of his life.
I'm glad he is able to follow his dreams and continue his career. Coming from a Bama fan
Mental health and addiction goes hand and hand and unfortunately many people still don't recognize that however I know from experience the right medication can help addiction good luck in finding the right medication that can take years
Bama fan here, but I'm so proud of Stetson, and I hope he has a great NFL career!
God bless that young man. I hope his hard work pays off.
What happened? He isn’t good enough to play QB in the NFL. No shame in that, most guys aren’t good enough.
1:01 im sorry but that pic deserves a huge pause
Calling him Stetson DoorDash Bennet when you would be a DoorDasher if it wasn’t for UA-cam lol…
Nah he would be white Randy if not for leg injury
Nah he would prob be president or a senator or a CEO of a multimillion dollar company
DoorDash is the #1 career for MSU grads
DoorDash is nice cus fuck having a boss and a schedule.
He's called Door dash because he delivered. It's a nickname. Calm down
When you get put on a pedestal and then don’t meet expectations of somebody else, this is the end result.
He became an alcoholic due to the pressures of being the unwanted quarterback of a #1 team.
Imposter syndrome.
A lot of Georgia fans acted like jackasses too. There were people seriously upset that he returned after the first national championship.
@@timczarkowski6165no there wasn’t
@@timczarkowski6165that’s unequivocally false. Everyone embraced him midway through the first natty run. Have no idea what you’re talking about. The year he got criticism was the Covid year where he threw two games away
@@KirbySmartsFakePunt That's not true, the only person who wanted stetson starting was Kirby smh Georgia fans did him dirty
he got locked out of his friends townhome and couldn't get back in. he did awesome in LA and is still doing awesome today the rams love him.
Stetson had a problem with alcohol. He took care of the problem. Now’s he’s back and ready to rock.
As a Rams fan, this is encouraging . Was wondering
Sam Bradford made 300 million off the '08 OU offensive line
I knew something was off when he gave that speech at the championship pep rally after the TCU game he was so off his rocker I figured something was up
Thank you for making the door dash Stesson Bennett video. You did an awesome job. I hope he has got his problems behind him and goes on to have a successful career. I would really enjoy something about JT Daniels.🏈🏈🏈
I've lived in Athens. Partied in Athens for a long time. The Dawgs was and still is my team. Championships back to back. Stetson is going to the NFL. I bid and bid on his RPA card. Finally got 1. $175. Then.............No Stetson. WTF!! Then I finally hear the story. I understand. I was in that position for a long time. I hope he gets himself straight.
Congrats to Stetson on his return. We are praying for you, man!
JT was my guy man… I wish he woulda stayed healthy. The first journeyman of the transfer portal. One of my favorite players I’ve kept up with
Bro was planning and praying on this, making a what happened two video a year after he got drafted is crazy work
Benson shouldn't feel too bad.
Mac Jones fell all the way down to his level in the NFL.
The NFL will always show us who is REAL and who is not.
Finally a good comeback story !!
