I've stayed in the First Cabin capsules and really enjoyed that and would stay there again. I also stayed at the Book and Bed capsules in Shinjuku, but thought those weren't great.
I travelled in the "non compartment" area on a bunk bed on an Indian train, an almost factory like mixed dorm in Denmark and a little box cabin in the middle of nowhere - capsule hotel will be a walk in the park
OMG First Cabin. I stayed in their Kyoto branch and got the same room type that you used back in 2015. So much memories. I also had an early flight when I stayed there and I was not allowed to use the alarm also. The staff said they will wake me up. Fast forward to early morning, somehow I woke up 5 minutes before time, took time to wake my self up and a few minutes later saw tiny hands below my door with waving motion whispering "Please wake up, hello, please wake up.". I guess they were hoping that I can see their hand movements mid sleep, it was adorable really. I thanked the staff and sounds like he was glad that I was awake and, probably, didn't need to get inside the room to wake me.
I watched the whole thing and I am convinced that you are a professional ASMR content creator. More power to you and your channel! From the Philippines
Never found a more perfect timing video. Literally was just researching hotel capsules in Tokyo today. Getting a more visual of the capsules is so perfect!!
This was super entertaining to watch, especially because all places were particular and different from each others! It looks like you had lots of fun exploring the capsule hotels scene in Tokyo 😸
I've been watching so many Japan vlogs since 2017 or so. You are killing it with these videos GREAT JOB! I did not dare to stay at one of these capsule hotels but thanks to this, would consider staying at one if I ever get the chance to visit Japan again. They look amazing! Greetings from Aruba (Dutch Caribbean).
Staying at a capsule hotel is very much on the "to do" list if I ever visit Japan. As a rather big person I think the smallest capsules might feel a bit to claustrophobic but at the same time, the largest ones, that seems more like a small room than a capsule almost feel like cheating if you're after the capsule hotel experience. For me, the first hotel seems like the perfect mix of actually feeling like a capsule hotel but still providing a decent amount of space.
The first capsule hotel on this video looked really comfy and cool, I ll have to check it out. Im also looking into Airbnbs in tokyo and osaka they also seem to be a cheap and good option it seems. But the views in these hotels looked amazing, the lobbies looked quite good. Great content!!!!
This was great! I enjoyed seeing the differences in each place. Love the book nook. And the movie in the pod is so fun! Btw I recently ordered a Japanese snack box from another creator and it had Black Thunder in it. Sooo good!
Up to now I have viewed capsule hotels as primarily functional, to be used only in times of urgency (like when the last train has gone) 😅. Didn't realize that capsule hotels have evolved their own sub-culture - Book & Bed Shinjuku, and Manga Art Hotel both seem fun places to try. Thanks @seerasan ! One capsule hotel that you may like to visit is Sora-no-Yu, an onsen (hot spring) hotel with additional ganban-yoku (stone bed sauna) facilities. Located right next to Narita Airport, it offers shuttle bus service to and from the airport. Perfect for when you have an early-morning flight the next day, or if you've arrived in Narita late and need some rest before traveling on to Tokyo.
I stayed at the Manga Art Hotel on my last night in Japan. Between the lack of ventilation, my friends snoring and the great availability of manga (I got through most of JJBA) I didn't get much sleep. It was fun though!
omg at least i’m not the only super deep sleeper this reminds me if i ever capsule somewhere not to do it before a flight. i slept through my flight back from london the morning after staying in paris and i would be so anxious to repeat that. i do have a vibrating alarm clock at home to wake me up but it vibrates the entire bed because it’s under the mattress. That little puck alarm clock looks so useless!
Probably ok when ARRIVING late at destination, and when there is no pressure to wake up at right time to not miss a flight. I would not want to take a chance sleeping there, when departing.
I stayed at First Cabin in Osaka a few years ago and it was a good experience. Still prefer a private room though. Also, I noticed a lot of capsule hotels have closed up as there used to be a lot more of the 9 hours hotels before Covid.
The first 2 nights of my 3 week Japan trip I stayed at the 9H in Suidobashi. Loved how cheap it was and the layout of the building but man I just couldn't get comfortable on their futons. I don't know if all capsule hotels are that uncomfortable or not but I felt like I was switching sides every 30 min. I'm also a big fan of sleeping with a fan on and I thought the 9H pod was kinda stuffy. Would love to try other capsule hotels in the future, Maybe ones that are a little pricier.
Thank you for the interesting report. I have never stayed in a capsule hotel, but it seems similar to a private room on a sleeper train. I don't mind sharing the shower, but I would like a separate toilet.
Sarah's ASMR voice 😍. Another fun experience! How close would you say any of these are to a standard capsule hotel experience? Like where a salaryman (or woman) just needs to get some shuteye because he missed the last train home. That would be useful to show, too, I think. And folks, I recommend doing a little research before going to one. I just kind of winged it in Tokyo years ago thinking the experience would be pretty much the same in all of them and the first one I found was an absolute dive. Like, they had the old-style Japanese toilets in the bathroom and basically just bunk beds in a large communal room. As I had lived in Japan a couple years by that point, I might have managed on my own, but my American friend who came for a vacation and was traveling with me was not having that. Fair enough. We ended up finding a western style hotel that night that had a room available instead. I took the 'wing-it' approach in Nagoya once, as well, but that time things turned out okay. The capsules were nice and there was an izakaya in the common area where I could get a bite and a drink. There was also a massage therapy room where I was also able to get a professional massage for my sore muscles before going to bed. That place was called WellBe, if I recall. This was about 20 years ago, so I have no idea if it's still there. I went there several times because I had season tickets to the Aichi World Expo back in 2005. Now I'm going to watch Alyssa's video. Thanks! Bye 🙂
I’ve stayed at first cabin a few times and always thought it was a great value. But you are right, on the men’s side there is some serious snoring going on.
I thought about staying at the Millenials but those prices for the Shibuya locations are a bit insane imo. The Fukuoka prices are better but they don't have that amazing common area for mingling which is imo the most attractive part. I'm thinking of using the shared working space at the 9 hours hotel now 😍
Stayed at Millenials at tbh it's not worth it. The only remarkable thing is the size of the capsule but everything else is pretty standart and I'd say it's not the social type of hostel...common + working areas are quite nice but you could get a hotel room for that money
@@HinataHyuga-vt4cf It always looked as if the common area would invite travelers to get to know each other. I heard positive stories about how people met a lot of nice short term friends there. But maybe that changed when prices went up because the guests changed?
First cabin is my favourite to stay for capsule hotels in both osaka and tokyo, they are clean and just have bigger space option too!! not a fan of 9 hour cuz of the plastic-like wall and how popular it is with tourist (it gets super noisy and noise-absorption between the capsules are very poor)
Heya Sarah and chats, good morning to y’all. Is there any chance, you would be covering Japanese prime minister whereabouts and his life styles? Is that a good idea for contents?
Capsule were you get sleeping results was very interesting! Great to see various Capsule Hotels. Whispering parts of this video felt very relaxing kind of ASMR video parts...
How bad is the sound around the capsule? They sound cool but I’m one of those people who can’t get to sleep unless it’s super quiet (with the exception of rain)
You’ll definitely hear a lot of noises 🥲 people moving around, snoring, hair dryers from the bathroom, suitcases being unzipped, people talking on the phone.. depends who stays that night so sometimes it’s nice & quiet, but other times not so much!
Superb vid. We though that the entire hotels were gender specyfic during our stay and did not checked them out. If a pair could stay in the same hotel just on diferent floors thats a good tip. We did not know that
I forgot to include it 🥲 but the prices do fluctuate A LOT depending on the day/month… so they might not have been that helpful of a reference. The airport & milennials locations are the pricey ones over 10,000 yen, while the other 3 are around 5,000 yen on average
@@seerasan sounds good. I’m going to Japan mid December and watching all of your videos to plan a 2 week trip. Very excited and thank you for all the videos you have done! 🙏
@@blackbird1119 Haha, I have been watching the videos, too. And now I have so many interesting destinations on my list, that I can't decide where to go/what to do 🤣. But I am pretty sure that a capsule hotel stay will happen. Probably the BOOK one. What is not to like: lots of books, and so quirky.
9h had larger sized lockers on another floor (not for suitcases), but generally most of the other capsules have a space underneath your bed to leave your suitcase. For any smaller valuables, you can store it inside your room with the safe. I don't think I've ever stayed at a capsule hotel with a proper locker for your suitcase, the best I've seen (another place not in this vid) is they give out a bike lock and you can secure it that way.
Spent my first couple of days in Japan in 9H. Really nice. Only bad thing was having to wakeup and stay out of the pod from 9am til 13h, after a jetlagged night out 😂

I would try the one that had ventilation! 😆
None of them. Still nowhere near as much of a scam as VPNs😂

Some part of me wants to try them but between being slightly claustrophobic and a snorer, it’s probably best for all, if I don’t hehehe.
I love the Zelda T-shirt! The little hearts is a lovely design! Love it!

No, she's right. We men snore like no tomorrow LMAO
This looks cool🙌🏼 are any of these capsule hotels family friendly?
Not really. They're for individual sleeping. Unless your kids want to sleep in their own pod, probably not for you.
A lot of the capsule hotels specifically say no children allowed, so not sure if kids under a certain age are able to stay at any.
Amazing ♩
It's a lot better than old Capsule Hotels ♩

Yeah definitely not for everyone, but hopefully was still a fun or unique experience! either way, you do save a few $$ 😌
Love the old school iPhone

Loved this ASMR edition!!!
This is Sarah's ASMR ep
