62 Impala SS 409. One of the early Muscle Cars. 62 is my favorite. My Uncle had a black one with light blue interior with factory tac. I used to go for cruises with him. Bought it the day JFK was Gunned down. Still in the family. Classic Sexy and just plain Badass Car. You want Style. Roll with 62 Impala SS 409.
I had a 62 impala ss convertible with the 409/409hp when I was 20 years old.Put an Isky cam in it,had the heads all ported and polished, all new polished valves, and lots of other goodies. It was a very fast car back then, ate GTO's for breakfast .Imagine,I actually sold it for $1,000 in 1965.Bought a 63 Ford Galaxy with a 427 sold it for $1,500 a few years later. Damn if only I knew then what I know now.I miss them cars more than you can imagine. Now at 66 yrs old I still love them.
classicseacraft I just bought my own 1966 Galaxie and im 17. Love that thing so much already and have lots of work to do. I would kill to be able to buy a 1962/63/64 impala!
Hey man, I'm 17 too and I own a '64 Impala SS, awesome on owning a Galaxie! Everyone told me I shouldn't get a classic at first, but I'd own nothing else than these quality cars. I cant even pump gas without a compliment.
I noticed that too....but it may be that when this video was made the SS panels weren't being reproduced yet or they didn't want to go the extra $$ to buy them hoping nobody would notice? I had a Red '62 Impala 409 SS back in HS so I noticed that mistake right off.
@@chrispappas3750 A true SS has a swirl design on the trunk panel and along the side trim. This rear panel is plain like ones on a regular Impala. This may be a real SS car and they replaced the panel with a standard one because they couldn't find one at the time or they didn't want to go the extra expense, figuring nobody would notice. Big mistake if this is really an SS car.
Hahaha, if you went to college you can afford this car, don't BS. I have a 1971 Pontiac Bonneville, 455 cid, 385 ponies, dual quads, positraction, dual exausts, with resonators, A/C, AM/FM with reverb, power windows, seats, many other goodies, want to buy it ?
The back panels around the taillights aren't the factory SS "swirl" style.....any idea why? Yes, I also had a '62 Impala SS 409 back in high school (1969). ;-)
It _is_ nicely done, but I saw some things that I know are wrong for a super sport, and one thing I think is wrong. The entire rear panel is for an Impala - not a super sport. The rear panel of a SS was machine tooled just like the side moulding. Where is the polished stainless fuel door moulding? Wasn't the horn button supposed to have SS on it? Is it really original or is it a compilation of parts? I'm not sure that tag in the console really proves anything. Like I said: very nicely done, but some of it doesn't seem right to me, either -
Is it a 1962 ?? How much do you want my brother sold his around 5 years ago to a nice college boy this car it showing is exactly only that my brother had installed a AC under the stero to the right
Tach missing, no tilt for 62 large car, jack and posi stickers missing that go under trunk lid, Counsel plate moves around when shifting. I think this car is a clone.
If you watched the video, the salesman said they had some final touches to apply, one being the factory tach and the ID plate. I'm sure they would show proof the car has matching numbers, or, you can check that out yourself. I still remember the day when I saw my first 62 Chevy 409. As the sales guy pointed out, the sound of the solid lifters put an exclamation point on the vehicle. He was absolutely correct because I was standing right next to the car when it pulled up and parked. The driver let it idle for about 20 seconds or so and man, the sound of those solid lifters were awesome. If I remember correctly, the engine even had a slight lope to it. Red on red, I will never forget that car.
@@chrispappas3750 It was never designed as a "truck" engine anymore than the standard six cylinder or the 265 through 327 chevy small blocks which powered most of the chevy trucks including everything from 10 wheel grain trucks to firetrucks. Probably 95 percent of the 348 production went into chevy cars. Truck engines don't generally win the Daytonna 500!

Nice my dad had a 62 impala as his first car and in this same color
409!!
The stainless trunk/tail light panel is incorrect
It's a half-assed clone.

How is it incorrect, I've looked at photos of other cars and the tail light panel is the same as the one on this car?

("Rear Cove Panel") I know all about this, got rear-ended at a red light in my '62 SS -
Very enjoyable presentation in this video. I had one of these in college when I was poor, and wish I could afford one now! Hahaha!.

beauty - did he say how much $
what was end price ?
These are on every street corner. Was interesting 20 years ago. Today not so much. Doubt it is an original SS.
True SS second third number is 1447
A 1847 is a sports coupe model V8 2drht.
Very nice car. Iv got one
Right no Super Sport til 64.
61 is the 1st year for SS. Look it up.

In 1968 bought my mother inlaws 62 Impala SS for $750. Enjoyed it for 3 years and sold it for $750. It was in mint condition. What is it worth today?
The lights work ..who would have thunk?

Immaculate not a fan of the roof but thats trivial...
My brother and law just traded his 64 ss for a 62ss 409 and 9 other Impalas
Man, The paint work looks like it was done with "Spray Cans"
What kind of money are you talking for it ?
Strange, i passed a red one of these on a flatbed
And you can camp in the trunk,,, it's literally not that much smaller than where you sleep in a small tear drop trailer
The devil took mine in 1968 with buRst of flames.

ohhhh 9
rear valance is wrong
i read that the engine used was originally a truck engine from a giant garbage truck...maybe thats why just maybe,,, the car was so fast & torquee
The 409 was derived from the 348, and yes it was a truck engine.

I will give you $500 Bucks
Nice clone, almost.
How is it a clone
Droooollll.......
They were Sport Coupes until 64 that is when Super Sport was introduced. No 62 Super Sports !!!
1961 was the 1st year SS.
