The thing about the cabbage patch doll is that it had no off switch so you had to take the batteries out and apparently it would not stop chewing until the battery back was removed, Mattel admitted that they had not fully tested the product.
What happened to the food that went inside? They never address that question.

The lawn darts reminded me of the time I accidentally shot my younger brother in the leg with an arrow shot from a bow. No, it did not stick in his leg. The tip was blunt, but did draw blood. He now has a scar on his leg. He forgave me. It all turned out ok.

I was once playing Darts with my relatives (who i barely even knew) and i was asked to retrieve the darts and the 6-7 year old decided that she was good enough to throw the remaining 2 darts without hitting me.And she tried and i got a dart in my left arm.It wasnt too painful (even tho it was like 3/4 of an inch in my arm) but pulling it out was hell.
The real trick with clackers was to get them going so fast that they would hit each other above and below your hand. Unfortunately, if you slowed down at that point they would smash into your wrist, causing huge bruises. The only safe way to stop them when they were going quickly was to fling them across the room and hope that they didn't impact with your best friend's head. Life in the 1960s!

For the cabbage patch kids, I remember a kid at Chuck E. Cheese going near the ticket-eater, she accidently got her hair stuck into it and 1 / 3 of her scalp peeled off. Still traumitized.

Also I noticed no one ever mentions blo-pens. Those were also recalled due to children inhaling the ink which resulted in headaches, nausea, vomiting and stomach pains. My sister and I had some and we got sick from them too.

In Australia the Aqua Beads were referred to as Beades. They changed to Beeados, but I think a lot of people still called them Beades despite their name change. I actually remember them being recalled on mass. Jokes were being made, so many people bought them, I don't think many people were as enthusiastic about trying their safer product. To this day, I giggle when I see someone buy one.

I had this toy before
I’m so fucking glad I lost it for years and couldn’t find it
I was a clacker champion at my high school! My siblings and I had the creepy crawlers kit. Easy bake oven? Great little cakes. My daughter still has the snacktime cabbage patch kid. Guess all of us are lucky to be alive. Plus !GASP! We also all have drank water from a hose.
I have scars on my feet from stepping on the propeller of a metal airplane. I have had lumps the size eggs on my head from playing with clackers. I won’t even go into metal jacks. I survived the terrible toy generation after generation. Kids get hurt. Unfortunately, all the time. But more regulations makes for soft kids. When my bothers died as young children, I learned that sometimes you have to take risks, that is what life is about. Toys didn’t kill my brothers. One was 11 and he was drug by a horse. The 4 year old died of a stroke. I used common sense with my kids and let them play, to their hearts content. Life is to short, to keep them wrapped in bubble wrap, to keep them safe. Fat lips, skinned knees and smashed fingers are part of childhood.
I remember not having all that padding that is required now for using a bicycle. Same with helmets that you see these days. Heck, my man remembers accidentally giving himself a groin hit from when he was trying some tricks on his bike. As in a stoppie done with one of those old banana seat bikes.

This seems really weird to me. I call bullshit on hammocks being illegal if they don't have spreader bars on them though. Must be some stupid Amercian law or something.
There is still LOTS of proper hammocks out there that DON'T have spreader bars. The spreader bars actually make hammocks a LOT more dangerous as it's much easier to fall out of one, as the hammock can't wrap around you to form a comfortable sling, which is how they're MEANT to work!
If you die somehow from being strangled by a hammock, then you probably deserve to die. Natural selection should be given it's head more. The stupid will naturally be weeded out eventually.
Just take all the warning labels off everything and it will all sort itself out. It'll be great!

I owned a sky dancer doll when I was 5. I remember i got mad at mine because it wouldnt fly so I pulled the string and when it came back down, it landed on the back of my head hard splitting it open. I was ok thankfully and needed no stitches but had to be taken to the doctor right away for a concussion. I still have a dent or bump/scar area from where the toy hurt me but it buried under my hair on the back of my head.

I remember having a few of these toys growing up. My little sister had a skydancer doll, but we never had any issues with our own. I myself had the aqua beads as they were a Christmas present when I was 8. However, I do remember my mom telling me to get rid of them when the reviews about their issues came in. I've never played with them since.

I have one of the recalled Easybake ovens. I got nosy the other day after rediscovering it, stuck my hand in, and it did indeed get stuck. Also had Aqua Dots (they were fun, and I cried when I wasn't allowed to use them anymore), and I constantly chewed on Buckyballs.
It's pretty surprising that I'm even able to write this comment
*We've taken away the responsibility of parents to oversee their kids and control what we buy for them. Now toymakers are blamed for our parent's failure to watch their kids. It's always somebody else's fault. I know that's not true for all toys but some of those toys are simply lacking parental control.*

This reminds me of a harmless little plastic glow-in-the-dark bird statue that my dad was given when he was young (so back in the 60's) and was a Christmas tree ornament. The only problem (which wasn't known until later) is that to get the coating used to make the bird glow in the dark was actually radioactive (contained Radium). My parents still have this bird stored in a sealed container but it's sort of amazing what types of products there were on the market and what we know now regarding some of the materials used to make everyday toys back in the day (the mid-20th Century).

I was born in the 80s and had a few of these toys. I had sky dancers, the creepy crawlers maker (which was so fun), and of course the easy bake oven. I loved all of them as a kid! It seems most of these wouldn’t be so harmful if kids wouldn’t eat the damn things lol.

yooo i had that roller skating barbie! we recorded that christmas and i got the doll and my uncle was there and was like "whoa hey you know those are a fire hazard right" and they talk about how the mechanism to make the spark is basically like a lighter just without the fluid but it still made sparks that could set shit on fire so they asked if they could take out the sparks and i was like "yeah idc i just wanted her to have roller blades"
