That was a great video and you really helped me out with my 2004 Armada! Thanks, dude!
I wish I had your spring hook with that handle. Because it took me an hour to get the spring back in... good video.
A powersports store will have a spring hook like that or cut a slot in a big flathead screwdriver.
I recently replaced a driver side rear axle bearing on my '08.
Biggest pain in the rear part of the job was the parking brake!
Guy talking: I think mine stuck!
Me: you think?🤔..... with all that rust and corrosion! 😂
The part that was replaced is not shown in the link for the kit. You said it was made by dorman. What is tht actually called?
what is part name that seized?
Dorman calls it a Parking Brake Assembly. I referred to it as an actuator assembly.
I bought a new 2004 Titan and the ebrakes went out only after 35K miles. I think this is one of thee worst ebrake systems i ever worked on. The combination between a regular disc brake system trying to work with a drum ebrake system is a colossal cluster fuck. Combine that with the typical rust and what a POS you have ! It's a nightmare of a design and a breakdown looking for a place to happen. NICE JOB otherwise. thank you and i feel your pain!!
The design definitely could be improved. It is prone to failure and hard to get at.
Can I just take the brake off and leave it off?
I would recommend fixing it properly. The parts aren't expensive, but a little bit of a pain to install.
