    Matteo I appreciate you staying true to yourself because honestly people don’t understand Blackmagic goals or ethics when creating cameras. They will easily stretch this body type for at least 1 more iteration before doing a redesign. That’s the only way they keep giving us amazing cameras without hiking the price up.

    I know cinema standard was based on super 35 sensors but after I bought into full frame cameras I just couldn't go back! This is one of the reasons why I didn't pull thr trigger on BM cameras but now I'm truly convinced! Blackmagic arguably apart from Lumix offers the best bang for your buck and the most value for anyone who is serious about cinema, I'm def getting one of these!

    I have to say, since I prefer the crop sensor of my bmpcc6k to the image coming out of my full-frame A74 in terms of highlight roll off and dynamic range, I'm really excited to see what this camera with the full-frame sensor can do with the Blackmagic image processing pipeline... I don't know what it is, though, there's something about Braw that even through UA-cam compression just looks better no matter the grade, can't quite pinpoint the science behind it lol

    Man Matteo, I really love the images that you produce on this camera, I was already astonished by the images from your previous 6k.
    I’ve always been shooting on Panasonic cameras. But now convinced to get a blackmagic camera, currently hesitating between the fullframe madness 6k and 6k pro, to go with my lumix S5
    I mainly do music videos, Music festivals with mixed lightings in and outdoor and now getting more into short docs/films.
    I would love to have a consistent image and the creative option to throw some 60 fps at 6048 x 2520 2.4:1 but would it suit image wise if it gets thrown in a film entirely shot in open gate?

    how much is the crop factor when shooting in 4K?

  • @antone9751
    @antone9751 Рік тому +15

    Images look great but after owning two Pocket Cameras, the P4K and the P6K Pro, i was hoping for a body redesign.
    The open gate modes are great , and the APSC crop useful but it’s a shame that the camera still only records 2 channels of audio. After switching to Sony I’m using more than two channels of audio often.
    While Sony Menus still don’t come close to the fantastic OS that BMD does, I’m getting use to Sonys menus but after 4 years, never got use to the Pocket form factor. BMD need to put this sensor and mount into a body more in line with something like an FX6. Due to the poor run times of the internal battery, I always rigged my cameras with a Vlock battery which meant adding an external monitor anyway so having a 5” monitor is great for someone who just wants to hold the camera in the hand like you are for travel style films, I’ve never seen ANYONE else shoot like this with these cameras and the current form factor really is a huge compromise in many ways. Something in size between the Packet and URSA Mini would be great and until BMD releases something like this, I can’t see myself switching back unfortunately. Have always love BMD cameras but I’m over the compromises. Shame

    • @Mr_Kenneth
      @Mr_Kenneth Рік тому +6

      100% AGREE. I have the 6K Pro and the form factor is crap and inhibits usability. It's like a grown up version of a Fisher Price camera. No ND's on this model is regarded. Battery is aweful and having to focus manually all the time is a chore. I'm thinking of going back to Canon and buying a C70 For commercial use it's far more practical.

    • @antone9751
      @antone9751 Рік тому +9

      @@matteobertoli yeah, I probably will although hopefully BMD doesn’t think like you because it will be hurting their business big time and would take a small redesign to rectify. 🤷‍♀️
      Also, BMD were trying to cater to DSLR/Hybrid shooters when this form factor was released. Back then, it kinda made sense but now, many of those shooters demand IBIS and AF (rightly or wrongly! 😉)
      Now, the market for people who don’t feel they need AF and IBIS is people like film makers (not UA-cam ones) who are happy to shoot RED such as Komodo and Up or even Arri with manual lenses but those users don’t want a DSLR form factor, they want something a little more modular. BMD really is missing a trick by not addressing this market considering the sensor they have in this camera. I’ve used my 6K Pro as a B Camera to Alexa on many shoots and it’s worked well. With the new sensor and in camera BRAW BMD could rival many much more high end Full Frame cameras but those users are crying out for a redesigned body.

    Blackmagic does it again. I always go to your reviews first for anything Blackmagic related.

    Why bother having this top-notch camera and shooting with such quality if your computer can't handle the editing?

      It’s 2023. I can edit 12K footage in a 12K timeline just fine and with the new M1/M2 you can edit and grade 8K footage on an iPad or a 1300$ macbook no problems.

    For someone like me, upgrading from a $400 Nikon, the Cinema Camera 6k full frame offers significant bounds forward, and peaks my interest with fullframe and opengate, because I do have a big interest in anamorphic optics and low light. As a VFX/Motion Designer diving into live-action cinematography, I'm aiming for a $2-5k budget idealy with some room leftover to build a rig beyond the body and lenses. Relatably so, Veteran BMPCC owners disatisfacition with the lack of upgrades makes sense. L-mount choice to me seems an unusual choice for consumer markets. Would you recommend the FX3 full-frame/FX30 super 35 vs the BCC 6k full-frame vs 6k Pro? Open to other suggestions too!

    BM is giving a conservative dynamic range rating. If it is the same sensor as the S1H which it seems to be it should have incredible dynamic range up there with all the cinema cameras other than ARRI. The lack of internal ND's and high frame rates is a bummer. But for narrative work this sensor and camera is going to be incredible.

      100% they are underestimate it. Or other manufacturers are claiming way more than what real dynamic range actually is.

    I don't understand why some people seems so hard to accept that the BMPCC series has its own market. Boxy cameras and DSLR-style cameras have their own market share as they cater to different preferences and needs. I just need a camera with to record my travelings and everyday life with the best possible image quality. I don't need rigs, external screen, large external battery, and other yada-yada that is very cumbersome to me. Right now, I'm only using the EOS M and 700D with Magic Lantern to record the best possible motion picture at very low price. If I want to upgrade, the BMPCC 4k, 6K, and this latest full-frame offerings from Blackmagic seem suitable for me. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to afford one of those BMPCC camera.
    Anyway, great video! That open gate 3:2 AR is really good!

    This is basically a roided up Pocket 4K. Not gonna lie, I'm a little disapointed. I don't care about full frame. I just wanted a cheaper Red Komodo from Blackmagic, with the boxy design and a return to the old days with Global Shutter. At this price point I would rather buy the Fujifilm X-H2S.

    Very exciting: Full frame, L-mount
    Disapointing: Still this clunky form factor, no ND, no ProRes (yet?), single card slot only. So really no reason to switch from my 6k pro.
    Do you know the dynamic range? Usb-C output?

    The other good thing about that beauty full frame: prices for 6k 35s and 4k will be drop to the ground of the ocean and they are -without full frame SENSORS- excellent cameras too. So its a win:win for everyone.
