Psalm 23 is my favorite Bible verse of all time! My cousin David first introduced me to it when I was a student in his Sunday school class. I was only a baby by then. David was my Sunday school teacher. When I was 2 years old, David was teaching me and my other cousins about Bible verses in Sunday school. You're right - this is one of the most important elements, and it's a pity it was not discussed. The psalm recognises the reality of conflict in the world and the courage those who must engage in it - as did David - must draw upon. I think the words say that David knows that God will care for him, feed him, anoint him, even in the most adverse and threatening circumstances. Moreover, whatever happens, he is certain that this love is eternal.

Psalm 23 is my favorite Bible verse of all time! My cousin David first introduced me to it when I was a student in his Sunday school class. I was only a baby by then. David was my Sunday school teacher. When I was 2 years old, David was teaching me and my other cousins about Bible verses in Sunday school. When I started reciting Psalm 23, he said, "that's your favorite, I know."

Beautiful and inspirational psalm. When you seem to loose hope just read this psalm. God is our comforter.

Why "in the presence of my enemies?"
You're right - this is one of the most important elements, and it's a pity it was not discussed. The psalm recognises the reality of conflict in the world and the courage those who must engage in it - as did David - must draw upon. I think the words say that David knows that God will care for him, feed him, anoint him, even in the most adverse and threatening circumstances. Moreover, whatever happens, he is certain that this love is eternal.
