Hi Freddie. Thank you for this video as it is a trip down memory lane. My parents used to holiday there each year in the 1970’s and we often joined them there. Sadly my dad died while on holiday there around 1980. He loved the town so much that we left him there buried in the Protestant area of the cemetery overlooking Dali’s garden & Port Ligat. I must make a journey there again on my motorbike before it get too old to do it. Paul
Ahhh Paul, both a sad and also uplifting story. What a stunningly special place to be buried🙂 I genuinely don’t think it’ll have changed too much since the 80s, so you may well feel like you’re going back to the 70s/80s. It’s riding heaven, and the scenery still unspoilt🙂
I like the woolly jacket you wore under your bike jacket. I used to have something similar but with a hood. On one occasion, it transformed a cold France into somewhere warm, just like that, when I put it on under my outer shell. I like a lot of the background music in your videos. Stunning location. That Honda Scoopy looks so different to my woman's Scoopy 110, which is an out-and-out scooter, not half-scooter, half-motorbike. You'd like my Aerox 155. Really nippy. I remember someone overtaking me on a motorbike in Spain in '05 or '06. He was really caning it. I didn't try and keep up. I stopped for a quick coffee and then carried on. A few kilometers further on down the road, I came upon the wreckage of the rider's bike. He was being loaded into an ambulance, clearly dead. Better to ride like you do, Freddie. Another hugely enjoyable video.
Hey Freddy: #bitterolives FYI: all olives right from trees are tasting bitter. There for they're put into water/salty water bath to pull out the bitterness after the harvest. 🤣 Cheers
Over 20 years ago spent 2 weeks and several k km in Barcelona and all along that coast visiting every museum and art gallery in the area with my then heavily pregnant wife . The other side of that bay is the Salvador Dali birthplace at Port Lligat which was a lifelong wish for me personally to visit .. Super video as always . Best as ever R&D
Ahhhh Richard, I’m embarrassed to say I’ve literally just five minutes ago found out that Dali lived in Cadaques!😳 It’s a stunning part of Spain that I didn’t really know about until a few weeks ago
My sister had a jacket just like that when she was 4 and I was 2 sometime in the mid-70s. I wish I could share the picture 😁. Absolutely beautiful scenery. You've done an amazing job again, Freddy! I am thankful for your Vlogs and the inspiration they bring.
Glad you went Freddie, Have family in Cadaques so have done that mountain road 20 odd times and it never fails to excite. Great to see it out of season, nearly always end up visiting in July or Aug when its rammed. Peace love and happy travels
You're living the dream Freddie, your videos are always awesome, whether it's you and Monika wandering around or you on a solo trip. Music is spot on, camera work great, brilliant! PS. You should put Monika's giggle into your videos at appropriate points..... 😆
Woah, the back 360 camera looks like if it was a drone filming, not attached to the bike, amazing! By the way you should as well visit Figueras, home town of Salvador Dali and another beautiful town of the Costa Brava!
So many reasons to copy your winter schedules. Especially as my missus is Portuguese. Perhaps the best time to go. Blissfully empty, sinewy ribbon of tarmac on an ideal bike. Just a great watch. Thanks for sharing. Safe, happy travels 👍
Really glad you enjoyed it🙂 It’s riding heaven (as I’ve heard Portugal is, too👌🏻👌🏻). I’m surprised at how pleasant the weather still is so close to December- it’s beautiful and genuinely still warm enough to spend the whole day outside
Freddie Bear haha That's one hell of a jacket and looks really warm. Great tune and great scenery, just great watching the Bonnie do it's thing, there's never a bad spin on the Bonneville. Tks Freddie for sharing.
Looks stunning... im planning to throw my Classic 500 in the back of my van and me and the wife are going to enjoy some Spanish roads south of Valencia in spring... cant wait. Love your vids
Hi Freddie. Cadaques and the surrounding area is indeed magical. We stayed there for a couple of days during our motorcycle circumnavigation of Spain and Portugal as recounted in my book, The Furthest Points. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
Had me leaning into the bends with you . . . it's almost like being a pillion. Will be exploring the Parc Natural del Cadí-Moixeró and Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa on my bike next year, so may get across to Cadaques if time allows. Another great vlog, Freddie.
Thanks for this one. It brought back happy memories of taking the children there back in the 90's. The area a few miles west around Begur is beautiful as well, lovely coves and beaches like Aiguablava etc, well worth going there if you get the opportunity.
About the Scoopy, you have to remember that Barcelona was the 1st city about number of bikes in Europe, now it's the 2nd one and back in the day the Scoopy was the number one scooter here. It was packed of them. As years went by many went to smallest towns. I don't know the number of units sold here, but they were everywhere.
@@FreddieDobbs also if i am not wrong (and i can be) Honda bought Montesa I think? And was producing here. So I guess that also helped. From this period the Scoopy was the bike to have. And the mental idea we have still nowadays is that Honda Scoopy or 125cc are the ones you have to have. It's "the posh scooter" if you like
Hi Freddie, good to see you on this beautiful trip to Cadaqués! Just a little comment to your olive experience: They should not be out of season yet, but you never can eat them crude!! The have to be pressed to get the oil out of them or somehow "pickled" and than you really can enjoy them ;-)
I like the 360 for the smooth and very stable - auto-stabilised - recording. I think you can set it for stable horizon too, most notable at the rear viewing forward but say for the recording off the tank when the bike leans, the horizon in the vid can stay relatively level but the bike can appear to move beneath - try it out. Thanks for sharing. Another tool in the toolbox!
Ohh dear Freddie, is Monika out of a job?😉 Doubt it. You need her creativity & editing skills amongst other things 👌 A fantastic partnership between you, the Triumph, Monika & the journeys!💪💪
Had to laugh when I saw you trying an olive fresh from the tree, I did the same many years ago, it's something you never forget 🤣 now I know how to cure them.
Lovely video Freddie sitting here in cold dark wet GB waiting to hear if my bike is a write off or not after an accident reminds why I love riding cheers
That camera is tremendous, I definitely thought you had a radio tethered drone onto you. The fruit from the tree is deceiving. Great video of a gorgeous landscape.
Another hugely enjoyable video Freddie, you have a great presenting style and are very watchable but the Monica 'touch' really lifts your vids above most others. Well done and thanks to the both of you, safe and fun travels 👍
Hi Freddy , the clarity of picture from the new camera is absolutely amazing, colors and clarity so sharp that you feel you are seeing the views first hand, I thought at first you had an idea to fly Monika on a kite behind the bike..i love the 360 shots...i have no idea how they work but its looks amazing....always time for coffee and cake, fantastic video mate
Lovely Vlog @Freddie Dobbs Camara is deadly as is the scenery. Most place outside the main areas closes all afternoon at this time of year until about 4-5pm.
Ahhh thanks for letting me know- I assumed everywhere was close for the winter and then rode back into the village later in the afternoon and it was full of life!
The gear is great, great potential and great images. Let's hope this doesn't make Monika redundant but certainly allows for a great experience recording on your own. Great choice in the music again folks
Great to see you enjoyed your trip to Cadaques. There is also still so much more to see around Costa Brava and Emporda, like the Medieval towns of Peratallada, Pals and Monells, or other coast one such as Tossa de Mar, with beautiful curvy roads in between them. You should also visit Girona and drive to Besalu and La Garrotxa, for roads in between Medieval architecture and old volcanoes. Feel free to reach out if anything!
I have stayed in Cadaques ,Pals and Escala a number of times in the last 30 years its a lovely region to stay great food and wine and OLIVES you need to cure them before eating them !
Hello Fredi!, you have been riding on the roads next to my house!!. An essential place when you are in Cadaques is to go to Cap de Creus, a unique place in the world, incomparable. And when you return from Cadaques there is a road, which is my favorite, that goes to Port de la Selva. If you come back to the area with Monica, do not hesitate to ask and I will recommend some impressive routes.
@@FreddieDobbs another great video, nice seeing a bit of sun on the screen on this dark rainy night back in the UK 🇬🇧. Nice to see you haven’t overdone it with the insta 360. Seems like Everyman and his dog are using these cameras for moto vlogging. Some videos have you feeling sick by the end after doing multiple flips, spins and distorted wide angle footage. I can see it’s benefits, but where possible get Monika to film whilst pillion 👌🏻
Wow Freddie the 360 must have changed considerably I had the previous model the Insta 2 and just sold it I could not get on with the thing and I lost hundreds of pounds because I bought the whole motorcycle kit with it never again on this brand .Dose this mean that Monica is now redundant Freddie surely not 😉 awesome views and a beautiful sea very nice looking from a grey cold wet climate " green with envy '' 🤢your certainly getting some good footage well done .👌👍
Really good video. Dare I say, relaxing! 👍. In my opinion the Insta 360 has beaten the GoPro for the past couple of years. Agree that ease of use is so important. Appreciate it wasn't a technical review but perhaps in another video you'll be able to mention battery life, etc.
Well Freddie that camera is impressive, but the only thing I like about it is it doesn’t zoom in on cats. Other than that I already miss Monica’s amazing eye. Still a great video. It’s 60 degrees here in the bluegrass today so I’m going for a ride. It ain’t Spain but it’s still nice. Happy Thanksgiving
Watch out Monica, you're being replaced by an Insta360 or was that your idea 😆 Loving the chilled out music Freddie, definitely a really set up you've got yourself going. Loved the ride along as I sit in front of a fire, as always you get the best weather. Ride safe
Let me just say that Monika was delighted to have some peace and quiet Dale!😆 As much as I love the sun, a nice cold evening in Britain with the fire going is very appealing👌🏻
I’ll try and borrow on by the Spring- I agree, they look superb AND have an essential (in my eyes)- a removable battery. This is the only real workable way electric bikes can work for the masses at the moment (until the range increases gigantically or until electric charging stations are as common as petrol stations)
I could smell the sea breeze and the pine trees……..olives need quite a bit of processing before you can eat them. And, just how does that camera get the distance from the subject. Great vid. Mr.F.D.
Great vlog once again Freddie, good to see the lovely weather you have there, been a total washout here in South Wales for what seems like months. I like the X3 camera sections of your video but does this mean Monika will become redundant? Hopefully not. Ride safe both.
I am disappointed that you didn't make it to the Lighthouse, Teddy Freddy. If you have never driven further up the coast to cross into France by the coast road, do try it is well worth it.
Ah. Another great episode. And oh, I had no idea you had a podcast. Been a subscriber for years and I had no clue. We should be guests on each other’s show. Hahahaha. I was already starting to say no no no nonoooo when you popped that fresh olive in your mouth. You’ve gotta pop them in brine and let them mature in the jar.
I loved that song too👌🏻 If you take a look at the written description of each video, I add the complete song list near the bottom (always in order). Let me know if you can’t find it🙂
It is- I’ve just updated my microphone setup to remove so distortion/interference I’ve been getting. I picked up the new bits yesterday and will be recording the podcast this evening🙂
I wouldn't be surprised as the Balearics were held by the Fascists and I imagine could have been used as a base for raids into Catalonia. Might also be WWII fortifications as there was a chance the Allies would invade Spain once Italy and Germany had been dealt with. Many Republicans were aghast that the Allies were content to leave Spain under a Fascist dictatorship.
