@WonderingXena Great perspective. I've been there before when my emotions ran high keeping up with certain news (unrelated to vtubing). Once I stopped following the news so closely, I was able to get my emotions under control so things didn't bother me so easily. Of course, everyone is entitled to have their own emotions and reactions. Yet, I just advise anyone seriously being affected, like actually health-wise or mental-wise, to take care of themselves first. There are some passionate fans out there.

I always end up being lifted up by Astel's words. He knows us very well, and explaining his perspective really helps us face forward with a better mindset. I respect him so much.
Speaking for myself, Astel has been mentally preparing his audience all year with hints that things are not all cozy at HoloPro. So when the big bad news hits I was upset but not completely shocked because I was ready for it for months.
Thank you for compiling and translating these clips. These are sobering things to hear, but they're important nonetheless. I've always appreciated Astel for being able to keep this level of transparency with us. He's absolutely right that there's a lot of hard work to be done, and as fans, we should do our best to continue to support them without pointing fingers or getting pessimistic.
I agree, Holostars EN Regis Altare had a talk show with other Stars EN members called National Tempus Radio and it was well received. Sadly it was discontinued for now.
Always good to see boys and girls from hololive having interactions like this and have a free space to talk about the behind close door thing we dont really know. So im glad they can do it in VCR
Thank you for providing this translation. It's good to see a perspective from Astel! I'm happy that he feels that he can share this with us. Honestly what shocks me the most is Astel saying they haven't had a 12 member meeting with management for the past 2 years to talk about serious topics/topics of direction. I know the JP and EN side of stars are run rather separately but if I recall correctly the EN side have group meetings quite often that everyone attends (as mentioned by boys on stream, in funny moments here and there even). As someone coming from a corporate background where monthly, quarterly, annual meetings with several combinations of teams is often done, to me it looks like cover has grown into a huge corporate fast without the means to Incorporate the talents collective opinions into its strategy. Obviously, they're geared towards entertainment so I don't expect they'd have something as regular as what my own job would have but none in 2 years seems very lacking.
It devolves into two reasons: management can't wrangle the members together because they don't want to and are satisfied with their own goals or management does absolutely nothing to gather them and set a meeting (meaning they aren't really on the priority list). Maybe its the fear of heated discussions... and disagreements that can make or break them.
It's hard to wrangle them even the girls side they don't do branch wide meetings because theres just too many of them for the stars side it's hard to wrangle them especially if it isn't common for them to have those meetings. If from the start they did those it's understandable to keep doing them but not if it was just a one off 2 years ago.
As stated in this clip, Fuma would just go "ah sorry have another appointment" & just dip cus heavy topic isn't for anyone. We really don't know what is the cause like Astel, is it the members? Or the management?
really good, eye opening video! To be completely honest, my only digestion of holostars content is through towa or CR (mostly daruma and arisaka) But through these few moments of interaction, I definitely know that Astel, Roberu and other holostars members are really good streamers, they grasp at opportunities to be entertaining and are really funny guys. Hearing about Astel's hard work, I truly wish the best for him and holostars.
I'm very thankful to Astel for being so open with us fans! I wish I had more energy and time to support the JP Stars, but their streaming times usually don't match mine. I do love them and enjoy watching clips of them a lot though, so I hope that counts for something
Not really surprising given the extremely niche skillset required, and Holo's relatively fast growth. They've proven what the studio can achieve, now they need to build a permanent core team around it to suppoet talents
I kinda feel bad for those of them who go above and beyond. Now that things are getting tough, it's become crucial to be able to put in more effort than usual. I'm very happy about the progress of some of HoloStars, especially Roberu, Astel, and Aruran. They seem to be thriving on interacting with other VTubers/streamers. But it feels like they're becoming popular as individuals. Doesn't feel like a tide that lifts other HoloStars boats. Either way, good luck to HoloStars. I hope they continue to grow in popularity. Probably don't need new gens right now though.
It's hard to reach critical mass for success these days as the Vtuber market becomes more and more saturated. There are also a lot of luck involved. After all, being successful in the content creation sphere is like 100% but 1000% luck.
i knew i could expect on astel to speak up about this, he's one of the most open and honest vtuber i've seen also reminds me of the talk with a vspo girl some days ago, astel said he's probably the most idol out of everyone and i totally agree with that. some people may have an image of him as someone who just messes and jokes around from the contents of him that usually gets clipped but he's actually a really thoughtful and hardworking guy, hope this vcr can change some people perspective of him also another thing i want to bring up is the popularity of holostars i know they have been trying hard and i see their efforts but lately they just seem to don't grow that much in terms of popularity, i'm not saying that they're not growing at all from what they've done, but i feel like they deserve much more than this speaking of astel as an example, his 3D are really great and his streams are entertaining, don't even need to speak about his singing skills, there are tons of clips out there and he often joins events like these to grows out his and holostars name, same goes for people like roberu and aruran that often collabs with the outside, honestly speaking they're just as skilled and entertaining as the current famous male vtubers so i really wonder why they're still so underrated after all the years of hard work, are they not advertised enough or is there something that is holding them back? or is popularity based on luck alone and they're not lucky enough?
Unfortunately, a lot of japanese fans bought the rumors that go back to their debut days, and they can't break that barrier. Just last year a lot of people learned that Aruran wasn't the bad person they expected. And it's now the same with Astel. Another point is the lack of structure and support. COVER thinks that vtubers will just become popular because the attachment to the brand but that's not the case. That's why Starmins are using this moment to speak up and they need to keep doing it until things improve.
using "lack of support" as an excuse actually feels like delusion considering how much promotion they get. When Uproar debuted, they had advertising panels at many train stations in Japan. they also still get 3d even though the number of subs and views is far below hololive. They still get sponsors from various games. Also dont forget holostars EN newest song got promoted at new york. Asking for more than that actually makes you look very ungrateful.
@@vvaleddyYou meant that incident when Miyabi was introduced? Funny thing is that that incident was instigated by falseflagging Nijistans because they do not want another male group to join the scene so that Nijisanji can monopolize that niche.
This remind me of his gta clip when mimitaya doubt astel as an idol, and he said that he's probably the 1st or 2nd most idol in the group and izuru agreed to it. And yeah, from his effort alone last year, his way of taking all of this seriously especially when he is on stage. He's indeed the most serious one.
thank you for including a long clip, i know it would have been easy for things to get lost in translation or taken outta context otherwise. they have a lot of great insights, and its refreshing to hear these sorts of talks between both branches, makes the things we've been seeing and hearing (all the problems and struggles everyone's been going thru) feel like we're all in this together.
Many talents also talked about this lack of staff in the new studio. They even asked (jokingly) their fans to apply to the company. I assume Cover wants to hire skilled people or is already a veteran of handling mocap studios for 3D; they probably can't find people that fit for their requirements. In the Holostars part, the boys really need exposure on the internet by doing big events to attract new fans (hosting tournaments or doing trendy meme content), and more clippers for the algorithm. Also for the Holostars fans, keep promoting/supporting your oshi and don't engage in any drama bait on Twitter or any SNS.
Hearing Astel talk about how hard it is to pull everyone together for a group meeting is disappointing, but not surprising. Despite them clearly caring about each other and getting along well, I've had concerns for a while now that there's some kind of "unity problem" that keeps them from being on the same page, career-wise. I assume it has something to do with different personalities, goals, or work styles not necessarily aligning. They often feel more like a loosely affiliated collective of indies than an official, corporately backed idol group. I don't know what's keeping them from meeting up and making a serious plan for their future, but I hope it changes. No matter how hard they work as individuals, there's limits on how much personal success contributes to the team's success overall. I think that more consistent teamwork and a stronger group identity would go a long way towards improving their situation. When they all get together they have some of the best group chemistry I've ever seen; I just wish they'd lean into that more often. Astel seems really motivated, so I hope that positive energy rubs off on the other guys who may be feeling less optimistic. I still love Holostars, and I'll always try to support them, even though it's harder for overseas fans.
Interesting discussion here, appreciate the translations. Seems like things have been tough lately, but all I can do is watch and support the talents so I try not to think about it much.
I miss Shinove-san to this day. After Yagoo pass him the reigns where he was handling all the boys by himself before they got their own managers, he still got things done while at the same time keeping the boys on their toes. Even when he got moved up in position, the boys always praised him with being within arms reach because he was so good at allocating resources and working with ideas.
Unfortunately many of the backroom engineers and staff needed will already either be in a job that needs those skills or not have enough experience to do what hololive needs right now. Finances are stretched for everyone, be kind and supportive and hope that things can improve without too much sacrifice.
Thanks for the clip! It helps a lot to have first hand information. I cant help to feel again the frustration I felt about the concert, where many of us couldn't buy an entrance because they choose such a small venue.... They really underestimated the stars fans.... They could have earned more money in a bigger venue... But well... I said my piece about that to management on the Google form... The part about the other stars "running away" from serious topics was something I didn't expect... I'm not sure how to react to that as a fan. For now I'll just keep supporting them as I can with my memberships and merch but I really hope this get a solution someway 😢
It's not something I've considered but in hindsight it makes sense that not everyone would be cut out for those kinds of serious introspective discussions for a group or company. I think this recent outrage would be good in the long run because the boys get to see how much people truly do care about them even if the anger is slightly misdirected. Encouraging them to actually take that step to have that talk.
thanks for this clip, really informative about various aspect on the studio which as everyone expected, severe lack of staff. Surprising to hear they couldn't even staff most of the rooms though, so I guess things will get better when they get more people. While I don't watch Stars, I do enjoy the clips I come across them and I wish the best for them.
from what astel and towa saying, they really lack of human resource..they need more human, but the requirement is pretty high so no many pass the test even as staff-san.
Cover has been screaming for engineers with 3D and computing for years. Can only get so many qualified people within such a short time for such a growth. Please don't burn out the staff too. :(
That building is enormous. There's no way Cover suddenly has that many employees. Sadly, staff will most likely get more work than they usually handle and some parts of Hololive Productions will unfortunately get neglected.
@@vvaleddy yeah some of the talents just batshid escaping the serious convo, but management should be able to force them, thats how management works.. its for the better good at some point anyway
@@Scuffed_Cirno that's a management issue. I understand why some talents don't want to touch certain topics with each other but they should address these issues with the company.
As a StarsEN fan, not having the Countdown still stings, 'cause it was seemingly the perfect moment fot the Tempus guys to use their new 3D models. What better moment to gather them up? Its not like they can go to Japan at any moment they want easily. I wanted to see Hakka up in the stage so much!
First and foremost I want to say that I am still a fan of Holostars and try to support them as much as I can by watching streams, clips, paying for membership, and buying both official and fan merch and I will continue to support them as much as I can. I do however want to comment on Astel's portion of the clip with personal opinions so please forgive me. I want to say EN has similar problems to JP, though I can say that EN feels very close overall. I used to be a huge hako-oshi for HQ, and I believe their format to have collab streams on Mondays where each person decides what to do, with creative streams every now and then, was perfect for them at the time and it made them feel like a complete unit with various personalities while they focused on solo streams the rest of the week. I think a lot of fans missed those few months where Tempus felt really cohesive and wished there were more collabs between the boys like it was back then, but understand that everyone is busy and can't do that anymore even though it worked really well for them. Solo streams are probably better for them monetarily so they might feel it's not beneficial to have too many frequent collabs, but it helps them stand out from the sea of indies where at this point the vtuber space has gotten much more saturated. That, on top of varying commitment levels of becoming idols amongst the group makes it difficult to build a proper foundation for Holostars as an idol group where now they have PLAVE and other digital musicans they need to compare themselves to. I think management also plays a huge role and I wish there is more communication and enthusiasm from their side, but I do believe the relationship between them, the talents, and fans to grow is evenly split where the more effort they put in, the more they get back. I wouldn't mind if they became more greedy for numbers for the sake of the branch. I hope this doesn't come off as too heavy on the critique. I sincerely wish as a fan that Holostars continues to grow, that Cover figures out their staffing issue, and the community continues to love Holostars.
I think Cover pivoted to promoting new members as a whole cohesive unit ever since UPROAR!! debut. They did a lot of full group collabs. TEMPUS is just a continuation of that. You can also see a lot of whole unit collab from newer units on Hololive side too. Older units, both from Stars and Live, are more individual focused. You barely see any gen 1, gen 2, gen 3 collab outside of big event that are directed by Cover.

That's why Astel is the goat, he's so real and down to earth he could singlehandedly be the Holostars ambassador.

Even tho I'm a guy, Astel is my oshi. And I'm glad he will overcome this storm with positivity... May the storm passes quickly.

Seems like things have been tough lately, but all I can do is watch and support the talents so I try not to think about it much.
what the holostars need is a new Shinove. the person who replaced Shinove should step up his game
I miss Shinove-san :(

Unfortunately many of the backroom engineers and staff needed will already either be in a job that needs those skills or not have enough experience to do what hololive needs right now. Finances are stretched for everyone, be kind and supportive and hope that things can improve without too much sacrifice.
thanks for the clip, it's informative
everyone gotta understand how corporate works
Astel best boy he's always so open and free
respect for astel
Cover has been screaming for engineers with 3D and computing for years.
Can only get so many qualified people within such a short time for such a growth.
Please don't burn out the staff too. :(
they have really tight screening on top of it too for safety reasons. the guys behind the scene really have it tough
That building is enormous. There's no way Cover suddenly has that many employees. Sadly, staff will most likely get more work than they usually handle and some parts of Hololive Productions will unfortunately get neglected.
When you have rushes of 3D events suddenly like these few days, you just know they booked the technicians for a full day with different timeslots.

2 years begging the management for a full team (12 members) discussion and it's still not realized until today is... painful..

Thanks for the vid, it was a good explonation on the situtation on the surfice level.
I hope Cover's internals will resolve their problems sustainably and flexibly in the future, eventually speaking. It's hard asf.
You barely see any gen 1, gen 2, gen 3 collab outside of big event that are directed by Cover.
very informative clip thanks
