Amazing. I'm super worried about overheating because my past 2 PS3 Fats (of course now my current FAT needs a bit more repair than fixing YLOD cause I accidentally broke the connector to the bluray drive, stupid flimsy piece of plastic) got YLOD. So after I got my PS3 Slim I did the case mod where I opened a hole over the fan and put on a PC dust filter over it (using electrical tape on the outside due to gaps because of the curved case). That should allow the fan to pull in more air to help. However I always keep a table fan next to the PS3 Slim (it's on the left side blowing air to the right side) to blow air onto it to further help with cooling. I also put the PS3 on a kitchen rack with around a 4 1/2 to 5 in clearence underneath to allow maximum airflow by the fan both over top and under the case. I think I'll upgrade the rack with a better one tho cause the one I'm using is only about 5 1/2 inches in width (I think that's the right term) and I want one that's a bit bigger for better stability. But this is amazing! I wish you would do this for others if they are willing to pay for it. Cause if this is something you'd be willing to do, perhaps in the future I'll want the service for my PS3 and future PS4 or whatever. I say in the future cause right now I am jobless and cashless, lolz. However I'd want my versions to be horizontal, I never have my counsels in the vertical position. xD
+DarthDragon007 (Arashi Uzukaze) it'd be amazing to have some controllable fans blowing air at this heatspreader from the original ps3 circuit, it should be quiet as hell... you could even bypass the fan from the ps3 to 5v using a switch, i have one in my pc that turns the 12v fan lines into 5v for nightmode.
I definitely would pay more for special edition console with a design like this while having lower temperatures than the stock one combining this method with a fan
Temperatures are very nice! ^^ :) A normal PS3 would be around 60° under load maybe 70° If you change the thermal compound and clean the console.. 50-60° If you use a Fat they will go up to 80° which is very hot!
For comparison my PS3 slim runs at around 75° I had to make changes to the fan profile to bring it down to 65, the temps you are getting are amazing. Well done.
The original model that also plays PS2 games stays under 65° and also 60° around winter time. This is after changing the thermal paste under both IHS and top plus jailbreaking the console to install the fan control homebrew app. Next tell will be replacing the lead free solder balls under the IHS with leaded solder.
Hi! I really love your mods, they are really unique and extremely pushing in terms of "I want to do that too" I am planning to build a fanless mod. In my head is an idea of combining two consoles into one case. The PlayStation 3 60GB Fat and the PlayStation 4 Pro. I made some calculations and some research and I guess it will look a bit like you "Silent gaming PC" - if everything goes as planned =). So on both sides of the case, there will be big aluminum heatsink (for each motherboard one) Now my question: Do you think that this is possible (cooling 380 watts etc...) and if yes, what size of heatsink do you think is enough for the PS3 Fat and which one for the PS4 Pro? Regards!
The headsink come in several finishes. Is there a big thermal difference between raw degreased aluminium / natural colour anodised - which one did you take for your projects?
Perfect thank you - sorry I was now a week on holiday (no wifi at all) so I couldn't say thank you for your response. I have some other questions: What kind of "power/eject button" do you use? Where can I buy them? And how did you wire them - maybe you could send a pic of the wiring, because is have really no clue how you could achieve the touch sensitivity?
@@fanlessguy1395 I hope you'll offer services. The passive cooling seems to be a great way to go with less maintenance (dust cleaning). It doesn't require the dust maintenance of the default systems does it? It seems like it has a more open design of sorts to allow easier cleaning (though the drawback would be dust gathering too) Cause our hour and especially my room tends to be pretty dusty and stuff (We have 4 dogs and 2 of them shed like crazy).
The new ps5 will have its own colour of death don’t worry, they always cheap out with internals to keep costs down,I’ve had two fat ps3 die,a PS4 blue light, all of them were out in the open as I know about their faults.Touch wood my PC gaming hasn’t had these troubles but that is because I build them myself and put a big cooler on them.

imagine trying to break into this guys house to steal his electronics but all you can find are massive ass heatsinks
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship 👌🙏👏😍

90° is the danger zone. 80° is still good for standard gaming sessions

Works of art. I'd very much like to buy the fanless PS3 from you. Let me know if you're interested in selling. Again great work :)
This video was mentioned in a Gameranx vid and I just came here to listen to the music. :-D
Fantastic!
Beautiful!
Genius!
Masterful!

sorry for my ignorence and lack of experience on this but, what's the difference between leaded and lead free solders?
This is art!
I want to do something like this but without the disc drive just completely digital. Is there a page with blueprints
I would like to see a xbox360 fanless to see if it fixes/prevents the red ring of death. ;)
Great. Now how can I buy this fantastic extension from you?
Love it, feels like a piece decor in a room, MOAR pls.
3:25 Congratulations, your PS3 is now an air conditioning unit :)
ps3: *HEATSINK EDITION*
Beautiful stuff! Where or where do you get your heatsinks?
Nice work! Where did you find a heat sink that large or is it custom made?
Good work. Want to see more mini itx mods!!
Hello! Where can I get that aluminum block that you used on top of CPU and GPU? Thanks in advance!
Where do you get the Heat sinks and other aluminum from?
You're good at this;-)
So cool!! In both senses.
You have golden hands

it would be very interesting. I think at least 500x300x40mm on each side, but I did not test it
Thank you! - I will use that size as a starting point in my calcs!

I buy raw degreased aluminium and it is anodised after cutting, but I do not know what thermal difference is there

Omg are you selling your services or have any other ones this would be sooo cool
Thank You! Maybe in the future I will offer my services.
Ahhh sweeet😆😆
In business yet?

Cool man,really love it
will you be releasing documentation or schematics of your fanless designs available for download and upload to fusion?
I do not have more documentation, but if you want to know something, ask me.
FanlessGuy I would love the 2d CAD designs, i want to try and build one but using aluminion and steel.
Hey, very nice and clever.. What is the cooling surface area of that heatsink?
Heatsink - 360x250x40
FanlessGuy thanks man
so wher can i get one for a ps3 fat lol
I see you removed the IHS on the GPU of your PS3. I'll do the same thing to CPU once needed as the thermal compound under them can go bad.
How much does it cost to build one? Can u make a diy kit?
Where did you get the ribbon cables from? Currently working on a ps3 ss project relocating the cd drive may be necessary.
I bought it on ebay
Nice!
What about PS4 Pro future?
Edit: Whoa I found my old comment from your PS4 Fanless video but yeah original PS4 haha.
i.imgur.com/OoNd6j3.png
about PS4 Pro? Just send me one piece for free and I'll look at it :)
Thankyouforeverything
Love it. A tutorial would be perfect.
Luckily, now you can mod even these puppies and you can completely ignore the awfully noisy Blu-ray drive :)
Impressive
keep it up!
where do you buy your heatsinks from?

FanlessGuy
Thank you. : )
what about watercooling it...
What about reading the channel's name?
Where do you get the radiator from?
www.fischerelektronik.de/web_fischer/en_GB/heatsinks/A01/Standard%20extruded%20heatsinks/PR/SK524_/datasheet.xhtml
FanlessGuy tnx how much did it cost?
I do not remember it exactly, I bought it ten years ago :).... about 300-400 USD
FanlessGuy 300$ just for the radiator? Woah
those radiators are sold at 1000mm
*HERE IS A CHALLENGE*
Try it with the Xbox 360 slim or E
yes, maybe in the future I will try Xbox One X
Make it portable dude
Wow
I love the minimal video style. The music. Most importantly the product. Everything just fits. This is so cool mane.
ylod, blod and lose power never gone.dont trash your money and time playing sony playstation, now just wait for new sick PS5
