  • We learn in this Parasha portion about the horrible sin of the sipes that spoke Lashon Harah about the land of Israel. Interesting that this is the only sin in the desert that G-d did not forgive us for. The question is why? what's so special about the land of Israel? This and much more...

A good friend of mine has a fantastic way of thinking - don't think of "what if" theories. What ifs are a waste of time because Hashem set things the way he wants them and what ifs are impossible, especially if Hashem doesn't have that in his plan.

People in Israel are not short tempered. Everything comes from the heart. When they debate, they debate from the heart. Even on stupid things. You have to learn to translate what is beyond the shouting. They don't shout because of anger, but because of concern...they really care about you. People in America don't shout at you, but if you scream for help or almost get hit by a car, they keep walking because they don't care.

That's a good one! Thank you! I think G-d has a sense of humor too, but we are at a lower level to understand it.

One thing I have never heard anyone mention is the two spellings of “the Nephilim” found in this portion, though I’m sure others have noticed, of course. Both spellings are present in the same verse.
One has a single Yud and the other has two Yuds:
    Bamidbar 13:33
    הנפילים בני ענק מן הנפלים
The second spelling with the single Yud is the one from Genesis 6:4 and it is found 10 times in the Tanakh.
The other spelling, with the extra Yud is found only in that verse. Nowhere else.
Whats kind of remarkable about it is I noticed that if you use the ATBASH technique on the spelling with the extra Yud, they have the same number value (215) instead of 215 and 225. Pretty neat. Not sure what to make of it.

When others have bad attitude towards me I usually reflect it as a mirror and sometimes escalate it. How could I control this ? I would like not to care.

Israel is the land of developments. Developments of ideas, technologies and all good stuff that is going around the world. So it is kind of light that helps the other nations. If the light is weak the other nations will get only a small amount of it. That makes sense when Rabbi says: it's better to live in the worst city of Israel because you get more light in there. Jews are inventors and you can't ignore this fact. Inventors of technologies, researches, etc. When people spend their life to search for truth (Emet), they grow intellectually. You asking yourself a million of questions and when you find the answers you grow both spiritually and intellectually. These two terms can't be taken apart. That's why G-d hid from you, so you can find the answers by yourself and grow. Soon when people around the world will be tired of the modern economic system, they will look for alternatives like Jack Fresco suggested. Who will you think will come with ideas? Israel. So if you want to live in the futuristic world where people help each other not for the sake of money, but just because they love to help and where people do what they like to do what makes them happier, so pack your bags and go. Not that there's no hutzpa in Israel, corruption or other characteristics of all democratic countries, it's all temporary. You have to deal with this. If you see the problem as the plumber see where the leak comes from just fix it using your skills. Nobody says if you came to Israel you have to blend in quietly, do your best to fix the leaks.

Didn't the man who didn't know how to read and write hebrew eventually learn? And he still got to keep his job?
