      What about installing on an sti? How would I get rid of the preexisting factory spoiler bolt holes?

    Great video! Thanks. I just installed an OEM S207 wing (that a wrecker had in town) on my 2019 STI Base (no wing or lip, so no holes in trunk lid). I tried doing the measuring like you did but because there are no straight edges I didn't trust it (measure 4 times and drill once!). Then I realized that the 2 smaller holes (the ones you enlarged) inside the trunk were exactly lined up for the wing. I ended up drilling up from inside the trunk using those 2 holes as a guide. Worked out perfect. I then put the front bolts of the wing into those 2 holes, put some paint on the back bolts and lowered it on to the tape to mark where the back holes would be. You were pretty brave drilling all 4 holes first. Drilled the back holes and they all lined up and fit perfectly. The hardest part was enlarging those inside holes to get a socket in there to tighten the nut - took a while. Cheers. Would post a pic if I could.

    I am 100% positive you have the legs on the wrong side :/ (you can see it at 11:28 in the video) The legs are not the same and not interchangeable. The feet have slight slopes to them that compensate for the curved angle of the trunk. You might want to switch those before water leaks in or your trunk metal bends. Other than that it looks great!

    I don't know if the DDC controller you have will let you create a rear bias, but if so that wing will help on the track at speed around corners.

      Normally it wont have adjust ability but iWire made it custom with the rolling controller just had to call them, they are super easy to work with and handled all my noob questions without any eliteism.
      I can confirm having driven the car the roller controller is working.

    So, I have an FRS and I like the BRZ tS spoiler which is pretty similar to this one. I haven't been able to find the wing because it's out of stock. Does anyone know if the STI S209 wing will work on my FRS? Is it bigger?
    I would be extremely thankful if anyone could help me. Nice day!

    So one thing I want to point out, as I have the S207 one I've been installing, and since this is the ONLY video I've seen of anywhere even close to what came with it, will say there's some decent info, however..
    pbs.twimg.com/media/EVHyQSoWoAAhyNl?format=jpg&name=large
    There is one big thing that is not advertised with these Spoilers. They are designed upon the S20* spec, or RA spec. A lot of these cars come with the lid spoiler.
    The main piece you installed (round) actually goes up against the upper lid, where there are 2 holes oriented if you have the lid spoiler. The other side will orient towards the stud you put in from the anchor. It's better to use these to center and mount the wing as I've found vs. the template.
    Here is what it looks like when oriented correctly.
    pbs.twimg.com/media/EVIhQOpWoAI8GDv?format=jpg&name=large
    You would want to drill out the lid spoiler hole and put a new screw/washer in there, then drill up through the hole. Once both sides are oriented, mark and drill down the 'front' side. Cut the necessary metal from the backing so the "L" bracket holds on, and you'll have to build a custom screw/nut/washer configuration to lock it in place.
    I've had to do a little playing myself, but it only will require cutting a small square in the underside of the lid for the closest window "L" brackets.
    One thing is very much correct however.. There are no instructions. You figure this out as you go, and no matter what, you're going to do some cutting/drilling. Just make sure you know your plan before you do so!
    Hope this helps anyone else as well!

      I'm working on putting an s207 spoiler on as well(I didnt really like that shape on the s208/s209) the templates are terrible, but it looked like the front holes should line up on the inside with the hole that is already there. However when I open the trunk and try and match the spacing it isnt working out. The way the base is mounted to the brackets, they line up if one is on the outside of the base and one is on the inside. But if they are both set on the inside it's too narrow to match the existing holes, and too wide if they are on the outside.
      Also the kit came with those clear plastic things that are sticky on both ends. If you put it on that bracket with the round end, you'll see it lines up perfectly to where the other hole is. So you dont have to guess where to drill.

    • @nosubswrx
      @nosubswrx  4 роки тому

      Good deal, if I’d known there were no instructions I’d probably go a different route. Glad you got it to work for ya also I’ve already stated people should figure out the install for themselves. I don’t like the design of the S207 much but to each is own.
      My wings not ripped off with countless pulls over 130 mph. If it does I’ll get a new trunk and different wing.

      @@nosubswrx So on an afternote.
      I'm going to be one of those rare cases on the internet where I will say I was very wrong.
      The holes looked like they would like up. They did not. I ended up doing kind of what you did with bolts and cutting the frame underneath, but I did get it to torque down fully. Can easily pull the car by the mounted pillars. I highly recommend a cutting wheel, cobalt drill bits, and a LOT of patience.
      The template that was sent actually was spot-on and centered. Don't worry about measuring it out obsessively, as long as the template holes line up with your mounts with the spoiler on slightly loose, you'll be good. Regardless, your mounting hardware will take custom work. You kind of have to figure out the exact angles the mounts line to the underside of the interior trunklid and drill holes. (I know this makes no sense in words until you actually do this, to see what one means)
      The only slight issue I have is with a bit of water leak from the holes. I used the included metal spacers, but because the torque from mounting bends the metal slightly, even with added washers there's a tiny leak. Will have to pull the spoiler up from the mount points and put in silicone or something to seal it off, but otherwise, looks good!
      With my car, I'm turning it into a USDM S207 NBR Edition with as many parts as I can get on it. I just love the overall look of the car. I really wish I could have gotten one here, so instead just practically replaced everything exterior/interior to make it look as such.

      @@nosubswrx so I need an opinion you might of seen my post on the 2015+wrx fb page but I'm considering trading in my 2017 410hp wrx for a 2020 sti and idk if I should trade it in or keep with my build and doing the whole iag stage 3 block heads turbo and etc... what is your opinion

    • @nosubswrx
      @nosubswrx  4 роки тому

      @@_wrx_WHPFaDIT My opinion this is the absolute worst time to buy an STi! We are coming up on Subaru releasing a new body style and hopefully a long over due motor swap. If you love the subie rumble yeah the current STi has UEL headers but once you build the motor any good tuner shop will tell you to go ELH. Ringland failure is a very common issue with the EJ's which is why I bought the WRX. The only upsides to the STi for me are transmission and drive-train, brakes, and steering rack. Yes when I did my STi swap I thought long and hard why I didnt buy an STi.
      Another factor's your HP needs and yes I admittedly keep going back and forth with this at the moment.
      Beginning this Loud AF 500 build my goal was 500WHP. I know 500HP for a street car is a lot even back-roads driving at 400HP can be a little much. Another side of me wants 600 - 700WHP but since the FA20 has no aftermarket injectors and currently the only option is do port and run a split controller this not an idea setup plus the car might not be as reliable. Also going with a bigger turbo will push the RPM range to the right leaving a narrow powerband.

    • @nosubswrx
      @nosubswrx  4 роки тому +1

      Buying a 2020 STi only makes you current right now, I see the facebook posts all the time but the next thing is always around the corner and can easily become a rat chase trying to keep up with it.

    This is such an l o l. I was sent this wing by accident and it looks so cheap in person. Should have gone cf center blade if you’re going to buy a replica and throw it on your oem trunk. it’s heavy too. I’m sure just the weight of it is creating the downforce. You’ll be regretting this soon enough LOL

    • @nosubswrx

      This wing holding great without issue. Do you know how much an OEM wing weighs? This is about half the weight and doesn’t have as much drag as the STi wing.
