100% true story: (Early 2000’s) I saw a young guy in the middle of central India in a hellish urban bus terminal wearing a homemade B4B shirt (and a Slayer patch sown into his jeans). I hopped off the bus and he told me in broken English all about his life, his challenges, his unemployment and how ‘Revenge on Society’ was his soundtrack. I thought “Holy shit, its the same wherever you go.” We walked the slum he called home and I gave him my MP3 player. I stayed in touch with him via postcards for almost 15 years and then he fell off the map. I still think about that guy.
Damn. It's connections like the one you just described that both get me out of bed in the morning and which fill me with awe and gratitude. Are you on Facebook or Twitter or any of those things? Meantime when you get a second, check this video out. One of the kids that made it sent it to me about 11 years ago. I stayed in touch with him for years but eventually lost contact, I pray they are all alive and well. ua-cam.com/video/9yDV5Ztghxs/v-deo.html
A moonshine story so tasteless... 😂😂😂 Great story a good laugh much needed!! 😂😂😂 Thanks Rob and good to see you kicking. Much respect from Cincinnati Ohio 👊🏻
Oh my God hon,, I am so happy for you! I pray you stay with it at all costs. Thank you for sharing this with me cuz it truly makes my day (I was entertaining some pretty ugly ideas earlier myself and messages like this jolt me out of my own bullshit!!).
I really didn’t want to laugh - I’m like “ok, farting in people’s faces, yeah I get it, but whatever.” I almost exploded starting at the “it looked like a pulsating red starfish,” and again when Ian gave up trying to shit and just stuck his ass in the dude’s face. You had me - I hadn’t laughed so hard in a while
Hey Rob, gotta a question for ya. If you had the opportunity to re-work the BFB album Revenge On Society, song for song, how would you envision it? Lyrically would it be different? I know you weren't a fan of the former singer's abilities as a singer and I assume you crafted the presentation around that to some extent. So, would the performance of it be different in your mind? I'm curious how that album would sound if you had the chance for a do over, or if you would even want to re-do it at all.
Hey Erik! Wicked good question. I may actually talk about this at length on the podcast. Meantime I'll say this. I know that I can be super-territorial about the songwriting & creative aspect sometimes. But for me that has to flow both ways so I have to give credit when due. I still think Buddha had one of the strongest & most immediately recognizable voices in heavy music. When it came to lyric-writing, he also had a genuine knack for coming with really odd yet interesting cadences (he'd often go totally off the ostinato for a while & then lock back in). His voice was way more powerful than mine (certainly with the aggressive stuff) but mine is much more versatile. So as BFB started to find our sound & develop musically, I started laying more & more styles & sounds in the studio. The same went for the lyrical content itself. I would love to someday rebuild songs like Bitch Called Hope & Revenge On Society from the ground up, both lyrically & musically (tho that would require some distant series of future events I can't even picture in my head). I would likely rewrite the lyrics afresh. But that wouldn't be to diss the old versions, it'd be because of all the shit I've lived through since the old days. If I ever did so I would rename the songs anew or something to keep the originals intact.
Aw man, I think I would’ve committed murder if I woke up to that I don’t know. It’s kinda like a perfect storm of anger and fight or flight so the adrenaline has gotta be really flowin. Can’t wait to hear what happens next lol.
Love it look forward to so many more and rob if you remember I was writing to you on fb bout not understanding your merch site but I was on my phone and my friend told about she was on computer and just seen the button to press was all black till you put the aarow over so I got and received my merch .
