Here in Brazil several cars were produced with this engine, like "Opala" and "Caravan", there were 2 types of engine, the six-cylinder derived from the Stovebolt family (4.1) and the engine of the Chevy Nova 2.5, the latter prevented the Opal from get off the line due to high fuel prices.

No Nothing to do with a 235 6 yet is a 2 cylinders Missing 230 6 same bore and stroke as a 283 V8 using the same Litfters valves and rocker design unlike the 235 had a Rocker shaft

We've this engine in Brazil. It was standard option for any Chevrolet Opala.

235 is the 62 prior stovebolt engine. 6's were 194, 230, and 250. There is a truck 292 that looks similar, but few parts of exchange...taller block. Side covers are taller

It's basically 2/3 of the 230 inline 6 which was introduced about the same time. You can also think of it as half of a 307 V8 as the bore and stroke of all three are identical (3 7/8 x 3 1/4).

Dang, those things were rare! In ‘70, less than 1% of Nova buyers chose the 4

A169cw A/C air filter, PF35 A/C oil filter. I think that number is superceded with a PF1218. There is also a short version of the filter if you have clearance problems.

In 1969 GM ran a Chevy 4 sale, promoting the 4 cyl Nova. Every Chevy dealer got 1 weather they wanted it or not. So 1969 was a more than usual production for the 4 cyl Chevy Nova.

Iron Duke did not come out til like 1977 and ceased production in early 90s and had a displacement of 150 ci .
The Chevy II 153 came out in 1962 and used in the Chevy II line til 1970 . Was used in South Africa up until 1983 ish. It us still being produced today as the Vortec 3000 in Mexico for industrial and marine applications .
