    My man. 3 years later and you've come back to the basement! That was I think the first video I watched. Found another use for all the buckets too! Great job. And lucky that your barrel role moment doesn't end up like a live leak video posted on a Laotian basket weaving forum.

    I don’t know 2% of what you know about concrete so no criticisms there. But I know plenty about videography and you are an excellent host and the editing and overall production is killer. I would assume this channel has 100k subs. A very rare good recommendation from the algorithm. Great video brother and good work on the project.

    It’s always good to see someone do something like this because hard head people like me are like, ya, I can do that and save some money. But in my experience, having poured out a lot of concrete, subbing out a line pump and having the ready mix delivered will give you better mud and more time to polish it up. It really is worth the extra money. Probably double the cost of this job but 5 times better quality finish and a lot less trouble. I hate wearing a respirator. I enjoyed the video, and I like your short pants.

    Thanks for the flashback to the time my father conscripted my brother and me to help him put in a concrete floor, in our basement! It was a 200 year old dirt floor, and we worked it in sections, which then became the forms for subsequent sections…this was about 60 yeas ago…I’m going to share this video to my brother, who’ll probably get a kick out of it, too!
    Oh, our mixer was all metal with no grounding wire, so, many many zaps!!!

    I waterproof my basement which involved cutting and hammering out a 18" parameter around the whole basement and then backfilling with gravel and concrete. 95% solo. I now offer anyone within earshot my concrete mixer to barrow.

    Lolz. when I was a teen I worked for a remodeler. We would have had to mix that by hand in a wheel barrow. No ready mix for us Ohh nooos. We had to work for it lolz!
    Me and my work partner could dig. form and hand mix pour 60 sidewalk squares in a day....thats about 500 bags a day HAND mixed. Ironically or perhaps on purpose, every one of his employees were athletes. So maybe he was a bit slippery after all...Joke. Dude was actually nice and paid cash... and paid well. Miss that old Buzzard! Hard to find someone who worked their way up from nothing to wealth, and watch him dig holes by hand in the rain and never complain! Rare breed indeed. P.s He always bought lunch too...and drove old work trucks, wore old jeans and crisp starched Blue jeans work shirts and old cowboy boots and hat.. even though they had a 4th home/mansion in Egypt...

    You made me cry. With laughter!
    But OMG, you're never going to get rid of all of the concrete dust layering everything in your basement.
    Real question here: why didn't you mix it all outside, and pour the wet concrete down through the window like you did the pea gravel? A kids slide might have dropped it far enough inside to put it right in the middle of your new slab area. After the first mishap/dustup of sliding a bag down into your basement I'd have... 😅 Sorry, I just can't stop flashbacks of the ragdolling drumroll! 🤣

    • @mujinmakes
      @mujinmakes  23 години тому

      Not too worried about the dust, lots of plastic wrap off screen covering relevant surfaces, the floor is getting epoxied later on and the ceiling will be finished.
      A few reasons - window is too high off the ground to properly use a chute (didn't show it but I tried a chute with the pea gravel and I couldn't get the angle steep enough, shoveling was easier). I would not be able to tip the mixer at the right angle and making a ramp to achieve the right height is a non-starter because the mixer is so heavy. There are flower beds in front of it as well.
      Also, concrete needs to mix in the mixer for at least 3 minutes. Rather than standing idle, I spend that time floating or shoveling. Running around the house back and fourth up and down the stairs is a waste of time. Mixing it all at once and then working it is a loosing strategy because it will probably be half setup by the time I finish. Storing concrete inside (where I run a dehumidifier) mitigates the risk of humidity causing the bags to go off.
