hey guys! open this up for timestamps as well! Do any of you guys have one of these wonderful dudes? 5 of you wanted to see the mental health care tips I'd recorded previously but I've lost the footage (sorry guys!) I'll need to refilm but itll be ready in my next video! More bloopers in this video guys! hope they bring a smile to your face! Thank you for the nice video! I do have one here in Switzerland and he is sprouting right now in July, which I didn't expect. I have him a year now and I find him amazing. But I really want to repot him in a better pot now, where it will be staying hopefully for the next years, but I am a little afraid of doing it, because I potted him when I got him last year, as he came without soil. Do you think it would be ok in this phase, as he is just giving the first shoots?
Just a note, I’ve had both scale and mealy bugs… scale is a tough little brown shell/ bump, like a turtle, and can be removed with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol as you mentioned. But the white soft stuff is not also scale, any white material is from mealy bugs, which can also be removed with alcohol. I enjoyed this video, very helpful information for my recently acquired small caudex. Aw seeing Dad puttering around is ok as long as you stay on topic ! 🪴
Hey Robert! pleased you liked the video and thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate it! Sorry it's taken me a month to reply unfortunately! hope you're well

And I hope youre well xx
Hey Twisty! So sorry for the late reply! Hope you've been well recently! I do like these guys as alternatives to cacti - they almost follow the same care tips!
I came across this plant today, and am so grateful to come across your video. it's being sold for a super expensive price here in HK (at least Us$130 ), I hope I will get to care for a plant like this one day!
Thank you for great information. What a interesting plant. Your dad is fine having him puttering around it's fun. Hope the scale stays away. Take care.🤗
Thanks so much Tammy! Pleased you found it useful! And hope you've been well and the family taking care too! Haha I'll let dad know - he loves hearing about the comments with him in them! 😂
I'm really loving your videos at the moment :) Even if you're talking about a plant that I don't particularly care for, I just enjoy hearing you talk and such :)
Hey! i'm so sorry for the late reply - ngaw shucks!! you are so sweet - thank you! It made my night :) I really appreciate it! I hope you are keeping well :)
Ah your dioscorea looks so healthy and beautiful! I’m going to get some D. elephantipies & D. sylvatica seeds in the new year which is super exciting (It’s really nice being able to find a supplier when you’re in Tasmania)!! I hope my lil guys will be as gorgeous and happy as yours :)🌱✨
Aw hey lovely so sorry for the late reply to your comment! You're too kind! That really means a lot :) I gotta keep this in mind to keep myself motivated. Hope you've been well lovely x
Hi Jess, yes your father is a star, keep him in the videos. My question regarding these amazing plants I was told to keep the caudex covered in its early life. is this correct. cheers
Such a great all around informative video, your dad watering stuff is hilarious as well, thank you! Just germinated and planted my 5 seeds, roughly how many months would you say until I see sprouts?
Thank you for this video! Very helpful :-) By the way, what is the name of the plant that is right behind you, to your right side? I like those leaves a lot.
thanks for another great video! ☺️ I live in Newcastle and have mine in an outdoor spot where he gets direct morning light and is protected from any rain/dew/frost/wind. Do you think I should move him inside as it gets colder?
Heya! Aw thanks so much for your lovely comment - I really appreciate it! i'm sorry for the late reply btw! I think you should bring him indoors just to be safe! I'm going to bring mine indoors too
Thank you for this! Can I please ask, how will I know if my plant is dormant if there are no leaves growing as yet? I’ve just bought a new plant this week!
Hi Jessy thanks for this awesome video, I grow Dioscorea seeds In coco peat at the beginning an they are about 5 month, and because of summer they are losing their leaves. Do you think it's OK to change their soil now?
That looks like a dioscorea but I don't think it's an elephantipes, the leaves are wavy, and the bark is smooth and round and not rough and geometric. I think there's a Mexican variety, that might be it.
Hi Jess, thanks for your video. Apart from the dormancy do you think that these care tips are similar to a ponytail palm? I have a ponytail palm and it's my only caudex plant and I'm not sure what I'm doing. lol, does your Dad know he's a yt star! And I forgot to tell you there's a great garden shop called Enfeild garden and pet supplies. You can look up their website. They have worm castings, different grades of perlite and dieteracious earth and lots of other great things that are hard to find.
Hey lovely! I hope youve been well! Hmm - that is a very interesting question - now you've raised it I can see the similarities between the two plants but I think fundamentally theyre different genuses - the elephant's foot belongs in the succulent family while the pony tail palm is a palm (which I hear are quite thirsty things!) I think the care tips would be a bit different actually. Ive just got myself a licula palm so I think I'll do a palm care video soon! oooo! I recently bought some pumice from there! I didn't realise they had worm castings - thanks so much! I've been looking for some actually (to get in spring now because fertilising days are over :( ) hehe! I'll let papapotplants know! he likes hearing about the comments with him in it 😂 hope youve been well lovely! take care!

Parents 🤣🤣🤣 gotta love them.
Thanks for all the information!
most welcome! :)
Lol I relate to yelling at people not to water my plants.
haha yes!

Hi Jessy thanks for this awesome video, I grow Dioscorea seeds
In coco peat at the beginning an they are about 5 month, and because of summer they are losing their leaves. Do you think it's OK to change their soil now?
In California in June it is giving me some big leaves.. is that ok
Love it x
thankyou!
you got this!
hi there great vid fantastic insight , you mentioned a nersery in Sydeny can you pls tell me the name cheers.
Will it goes dormant in tropical country?
That looks like a dioscorea but I don't think it's an elephantipes, the leaves are wavy, and the bark is smooth and round and not rough and geometric. I think there's a Mexican variety, that might be it.
Hi! Every care guide I’ve seen they recommended using a dilute fertilizer for every watering period. Is that necessary?
Can you show us how to water dioscorea! Pllllllease!!!!!! I just bought one with very few roots and still dormant. I hope it’s alive 😬
I’ve got two 3cm babies. They are still dormant which is making me nervous. I tell them to “wake up” every day!
oooo! what cute little babies! not long until summer now which should help!
I just received a tiny potted discorea and all the leaves came off during shipping. Will it grow more leaves?
ell I need help ....the caudex on my pony tail palm shrunk from one side. The caudex is hard and the leaves look healthy.
hey mardel! hmm do you have a photo of this? it would be easier to diagnose!
Have you got both male and female?

Very good video , info, and staying on point. Way to and film inspite of noise and distractions, acknowledge and move on.
there goes your dad ;] lol
HAHAHA
The father don't give a care...no cares given.
Why are they all like that??
