From one knife maker to the other. Thank you for your expertise in utilizing what we already have. Most of all thank you for reminding us that it’s okay to start thinking for ourselves. Use common sense when attacking projects. Have a safe and productive day sr. God bless.
CA glue is where its at for that type of stuff, fast and it soaks into the pores and bonds really well. Full time wood worker, and I just watched a full video of Jason sticking scraps together 😂 worth it!!
Thanks Jason! I love making contrasting handles from different woods! I also use a lot of engineered materials like g10, micarta, kirinite, juma and any other cool stuff laying around! Thanks for sharing your tips. If you doing sectional scales I find it helps tremendously to glue them to liners!
Right on Jason with your method of roughing up the surface with 60 grit before epoxy is used. I have found that using a milling machine with a micro tooth cutter really gives the adhesive gripping power and also leaves a real unique pattern for the finely detailed customers observation too. Nice job and peace to you too. One more thing, stay virus free fella. VF
Jason, you are awesome! Not only are your videos always educational and entertaining, but I love when you do goofy things like talking to spiders or make a Sci-Fi references!
Great video. The way you explain things are clear, at least to me, and I appreciate it. I'm not a knife maker, yet, but you're inspiring. I have a question or maybe a challenge for you Mr. Knight. If you haven't done it yet, can you forge a knife from the cut off peices of metal and the "shop floor" metal that comes off when grinding your knives? It would be interesting what can come out of it. Thanks again and I can't wait for your next video.
I spoke with a adhesive guy and from what i understood from the conversation was that a mirror finish would be best for a pure adhesive bond. The roughing allows for a interlocking mechanical bond along with the adhesive bond. Not that it matters but maybe it would be useful to know under certain circumstances.
Just you saying the words "micarta pins", introduced me to something I didn't know existed. Makes sense. I'm wondering how well they hold up, or if kitchen knife is as much action as they should see. I will find out. Thanks.
Steel, check. Forge, double check. Anvil, hammer, and tongs. Check. Grinder, check. Handle material? I have 2 peices of spaulted maple that I cut, and some peices of an arborvitae I’m going to try.
Can pecan wood be stabilized to use for handles & will they work? Cass has some freshly cut pecan limbs that look pretty inside & he wants to learn to use them.
Nice video Jason! As usual I enjoyed. I would enjoy some close ups of your working though, I get a lot out of watching someone's hands and how they position and work the piece. Close up of you working to the scribe line and a close up of you doing the final fit up would have been helpful. Again though, I enjoyed the vid and you do amazing work!
Casey Nolte Have you done much canister Damascus? I have a idea but I don't have a forge set up yet. I want to use M60 machine gun links to make a billet, they are spring steel so they should harden, They are parkerized and I don't know how that will affect things. Do you think it will work?
I call stuff all over your shop that you have to move to get something done, “flat surface disease” . The more flat surfaces the worse the problem. I’m glad I’m not the only one that suffers from this condition. 😁

I love the mood you have Jason, you love what you are doing in each video. Thanks for sharing!!
His scrap wood bin is 100 times better than my best wood reserve lol
better than my wood bin of jib board and pine
Even Jason Knight puts on the saftey glasses, you're never to cool to preserve your eye sight
That's right man. Protecting your eyes is no joke.
You can eat with fake teeth, you can't see with a glass eye
Love your work, videos, and sense of humor. As a new knifemaker these videos are steering me in the right direction!
Thank you for sharing.

I like the curve idea for the fit up of both woods. I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you for all of the information you've provided for us Jason.
I will show this to my wife when she asks, again, why I don't throw scraps away! Thank you.

Stuff in the way that you have to move before you can get to the place that you need to work. Sounds like my shop.
this is how I piece together a meal from leftovers every Tuesday night before I go grocery shopping on Wednesday

I have alot of scrap wood from projects and i keep them for a few months but if there not used, i give them to the fire god!
"I don't care I'll do what I want" Sweet, I resemble that remark.
Good content and as normal presented in a relaxed way that’s easy to learn from !
Nice kilt.
Thank you. Very informative videos. Appreciate you sharing.

yea, the same thing apparently works for steel scrap as well.
except the scrap bin for steel is called an "Aristotle furnace"
Great video!

This definitely gives me some ideas
video quality is amazing
An much easier way to finish that radius just right is to clamp the master right up next to the belt at 90deg and use it as a guide.
Tripped out when he started signing off, didn’t realize how fast those 22m went by lmao
"don't grind your forehead off doing this" Bwahahahahaha! You crack me up.
If we are supposed to have to move a bunch of stuff in our shop to get to the thing that we need, then I am executing that plan flawlessly.
Awesome informational Educational Video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
Love the content buddy. Can you please make some videos on grinding? Different types and tips for each??
"Tune in to see a world-class mastersmith pick through the trash!" :P JK- great stuff as always

Good video. Thanks
Excellent info thank you. Why do you recommend g10 liner and not the fiber liner?
Could you do a video to show the difference in how to grind a chefs knife versus say a bowie?
Stay tuned for my next Forged series. You can cross reference The Elemental Knife with The Integral Chef's Knife
@@JasonKnightMS very cool, thank you
Thank you!
You could make a quilt with those scraps.

If Burt Reynolds were a blacksmith..
Where did you get the awesome cargo kilt?
His dress is probably a utilikilt.
I'm fairly new to the knife making and blacksmithing game but there's one question I have...why the kilts?
Gets hot in the forge. Nice a breezy on the nether region bits. Not to mention, tradition. Also, real men can wear a kilt and feel totally manly doing it
you nid to get some Mexican meskit wood is Really hard
Different definition of scraps
Where do you buy your wood?
"I've been your roommate all these yrs, and now you just crushed me" ... Well, if you paid rent, you wouldn't be in that situation Mr spider!
I'm worst at getting rid of stuff.
Free Willy?
I used scrap micarta to make a handle fo my wifes paring knife she inherted fromher mom over 100 years old
Speed square
Nice dress.
04:28 THATS WHAT SHE SAID
Is 41 to old to start?
I would give him 100.00 dollars for all that scrap wood there's some good stuff there
WD-40 evaporates in a few days and won't protect the metals very long, not recommended for a finish.
He's using it to bring out the grains to see what they will look like WHEN finished genius.

Don’t take this the wrong way or anything, but you sound like a mix between Steven Seagal and Tommy Chong. More Seagal than Chong tho.
