There wasn't conflict between Northern Ireland and Ireland ever, it was between Irish and British. And seeing a holiday where manicans of Irish people are hung from nooses and burnt on these fires as a bit of fun is pretty gross man
One of these bonfires had a banner saying, "Scot Sinclair loves bananas," written on in, about a black Celtic FC player and a picture of it with the caption 'disgusting' was posted on fb and someone commented, "thats our culture," like Jesus Christ how tone deaf do you have to be for that to be your response...
This is why the Republicans are the original SJW fucks, "call them racist". No, fuck off, it was the IRA who fought for the Nazis while Ireland stayed neutral and Britain fought against them.
Show me a link, I'm not gonna take your word for it. Also there are hundreds of black and Asian people etc in NI who walk with the bands, and even African branches of the OO in Nigeria, Ghana and Togo. Stop pretending we're all racist, it's juvenile.
+Allied Atheist Alliance literally just google "Scott Sinclair banner" and it'll come up, not gonnie go onto fb and find the exact post and comment again. And I don't know what you're on about? I'm not 'pretending' everyone is racist? The only people I would call racist in this situation are the people who made and defended the banner, of course I don't think everyone in Belfast is racist jfc, its a great city I go there multiple times a year.
Oh look I can google too! Judging by this story every single Catholic in NI must be racist! According to your standards.. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jun/12/racism-northern-ireland-couple-tell-abuse-belfast
Houses near the bonfires board up their windows (you can see wood on windows of the surrounding houses on the video). As for allowing it, it would cause way too much outrage to ban it (look up the troubles in NI, even though its ended there's still an us vs them mentality), and the major party in NI is the DUP, a unionist (Loyalist) party.
I personally don't understand all the segregation in Ireland and I don't like it. I am from Northern Ireland and my parents are Catholic and Protestant and so I have been given integrated education my whole life. I love my country but sometimes I just wish that people could set their differences aside, just for even one day.
@@PaulMuzik nationality is more than a passport. If they love the crown they can go live in England. Ireland belongs to the Irish. The real Irish. We want our 6 counties back. Tiocfaidh ar la!
A 'tim' is a derogatory term for a Celtic F.C fan here in Scotland. People in Northern Ireland use it too however due to their high support for our old firm teams (Rangers and Celtic) seeing as both of the teams have their connection to the protestant vs catholic religious divide. If you found Tim's video here interesting then you should look further into it. Both in Ireland and Scotland. Plus England for a bit with all the IRA attacks. It's a deep and controversial history.
This sort of stuff is not healthy for anyone so much hatred is not good for anyone burning effergies is the sign of disturbed minds . So much h for Northern Irish "peace" . Warped tradition.
Carol Worth A good place to start would be "The Ulster Plantation." Basically, land was stolen off the indigenous Irish who were either killed or pushed out, and the land and its resources were given to loyal British colonists called "planters."
Carol Worth Also, the early Irish opponents of English rule were Protestants such as Theobald Wolftone. The United Irishmen (an early Nationalist movement) was founded by Presbyterian Irish...the Catholics were not the only one's fighting England. It was never Catholic versus Protestant (until recently), but Nationalist versus Unionist.
Thanks for the update, Tim Pool! Without you I wouldn't even know that this was a thing. Glad you're out there traveling, exploring and observing for the rest of us poor sinners who are way too busy.
Super sad. I guess 'keep Britain tidy' never caught on in NI. I really can't help but think two things: it be super good for the soul of everyone in NI to unite with the Republic, and also, why the hell would anyone want this chunk of sad(?) And I really am grateful for the chunk of sad, right now, 'cos DUP saved Brexit, still....What the hell is wrong with these people?
It is a hate rally. They hate Ireland and Irish people yet they live on the island of Ireland. It's time for the republic to band together and take back what's rightfully ours.
I lived in Londonderry as kid for a short time during the late 60's. I recall being told by shop owners I wasn't allowed in because I didn't attend their church. We were not a church going family. My Dad saw the trouble that was brewing and got us the heck out of there.
If you are asking if I used the correct name. As far as I know it is officially Londonderry. But it also depends on if you ask a Unionist or a Nationalist. As an American, I know it as Londonderry.

Big fan of your work Tim. Just a point of clarification though. The Republic of Ireland has never been involved in the conflict in Northern Ireland. The violent protagonists of the conflict were mostly Northern Irish extremist Republicans & loyalist extremists groups.
You should interview some republicans too and see how they feel about the Irish flag being burnt on Irish soil. Loyalists don't belong on the island of Ireland. The whole island belongs to the people of Ireland and if they love the crown so much then they can go live in England. As an Irish person who grew up in the republic all I can say is we haven't forgotten about the North. We want our six counties back and we will continue to fight for our countrymen. Tiocfaidh ar la!

why is the city allowing this? Those fire are so close to those homes, it would set those on fire, if not damage the building outright.

This really don't represent all of Northern Ireland this is basically just Belfast the smaller places are much more peaceful

Londonderry?
Edit: Derry
