Idk who it is but there’s another guy who sounds like jack white and I get confused every time I hear a raconteurs song. But I seriously love jack white and the raconteurs me and my parents listen to them a lot!
Yep. And Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O'Donovan and Chris Thile, and the Punch Brothers, and Nickel Creek, Billie String... But Jack White criativity is like an active vulcano
The lyrics of this song are superb... My favourite are the first line and last line of this song... "Not sure if there's a point to the story, but I'm gonna tell it again........So now you heard another side to the story, but you wanna know how it ends. If ya must know the truth of the tale go and ask the milk man...
This live-version has something special, every day I wake up with this song and go to bed hearing it again.Jack White on this stage hypnotice me .Thanks for that!!
his voice hot me up! ^^ and this god damn song is glorious, admirable, magnificent, wonderful etc.! I can listent to all day! Every single dude from The Raconteurs is a monster genius.
Este cantante es uno de los mejores de este momento es estupendo el tema y es muy reconocido en el mundo entero yo lo se muy bien tengo amigos en el exterior y me lo cuentan carolina drama gusta mucho la rompe
Growing up hearing Led Zep, Aerosmith ect.. then listening to80s 90s rock as a teen.. ive felt like there has been a musical draught since 2000 in just good old raw bands that can sound like their record playing live with just insturments, vocals an talent... this guy was a breath of fresh air..just incredible.
The White Stripes (self titled album) (1999) The Big Come Up (2002) I don't think either of them were trying to copy each other. They just happened to sound similar.
As much as I love this ballad, something makes me want to say, 'hey only us Americans get to sing about our crappy people!' But I'll give this fantastic band a pass.
I think Jack White is the man that's the most important musician to follow. He's the only one coming up behind the likes of McCartney and Dylan. Too much talent for one person to handle...
I'm tired of people looking back and saying we had a shitty decade of music. That's bull. The pop music had a lot of crap going on, but all you had to look around a bit and you can find plenty of good music, Jack's musical accomplishments high on that list. Even if it seems like the radio doesn't play much of what's good, go elsewhere, there is someone out there making the good stuff.
jack white does what he feels right not what other people feels right which is a good thing but doesn't get a mainstream amount of popularity which isnt what this kind of music deserves as of the sheer power and effort that goes into each performance is worthy of a thousand mainstream bands
I adore this song. It proves Jack White to be a musical genius, and the Raconteurs to be one of the best bands this century. ("The white milk dripped down with the blood" are my favourite lyrics ever) Coldplay should not have won the Grammy. The Raconteurs are alot better rock band. Coldplay are good, but not at Rock. Proper rock, anyway.
@ConchordsFan23 Hey dude. I thought about it as well, dont know but a twisted idea could be that the 10-years old boy was the son of the milkman, eigther he is another man not displayed at all or maybe its the actual boyfriend? Dont know but the milk is in the story throught out the story really.. REALLY DIG this part, awesome song all in all! Good Job Jack white!! What do you think your self?
one of the few songs I prefer the studio version to. I don't know, every once in a while, great artists write songs so perfect that its actually better in the studio then live. I feel that way about Bruce Springsteen's "Backstreets" and I feel the same way about this song. The ending is fantastic tho, about the time it goes to the half-time feel to the end of the song. And the rest of it is great too, but just not as great as the studio version IMO.
i think jacks new haircut is better dan eva lyk in da vid of salute your salution but i think its not his fault that his hair isnt at its best. leave him alone. he has great hair. the song is all that matters nd that is great so just leave it at that. well jack sort of matters 2. he brings life to the band. he is definately the best lookin guy i hav seen 4 years. i am soo jealous of karen elson
@ebenholt i dunno man, its rele hard, i think the mother is having an affair with the milkman, and the boyfriend knew about the affair but didnt know with whom it was happening with, and then when the preacher/dad came in to give the mom child support, the boyfriend that it was him and tried to kill him.
priest was Billy's father, mother said 'your daddy brought this [money] he's been paying the bills for years', the boyfriend is probably the milkman- and Billy's lil brother's father- so the story has an untold irony- his brother's father killed his father, so he killed his brother's father, and the brother walks in and sees what happened- now what's he gonna do?
@LeaningTowardsPisa ikr? whats jacks DEAL? he spent all this time telling the story, then tells us its bullshit and that we have to go find someguy with a profession that doesnt even EXIST anymore. GAH i hate it when this happens.
lol i mostly listen to pos, led zeppelin, white stripes, the raconteurs, nerd, tool, and mars volta.... and it is you're not your. so, how can you spot out a genius if you can not spell? lol the saying takes one to know one works perfectly here
gosh i hate it when people spell offense wrong. Ive seen two other people spell it like that today.... "offence". get a dictionary before you start pointing fingers about who is trying to sound intelligent and whatnot.
dude, this band would be awesome without white, but the fact that he is in it. makes them fucking insane! his haircut sucks but luckily it doesn't make him any less of a genius, just a more silly lookin one so don't defend it
WELL, in most marriages (I hope), the father helps the mother with the kids, yes? Diaper changing, feeding, running after toddlers, that sort of thing..... most one tired,or at least look it- make sense?
@punkdava yeah the beatles. He is a fantastic song writer like they were and he is better on the guitar than any of them were, not taking away their credit just my POV
@jbtsupporter That's funny as hell ! Never noticed that before, but damn Frodo had one hell of a growth spurt and I didn't know those little guys were so talented
@DS6FILMS Agreed. Everyone of his bands are unique. I'am not a fan of woman singers but the Dead Weathers cd Horehound is great to jam to because of the help of Jack White.
Everytime I hear this song I never want it to end
Well said
Right. Exactly....well put
This is one of the best things I've seen. I have to re-watch it every few months.
Great song...great story telling.
best lyrics ever
Idk who it is but there’s another guy who sounds like jack white and I get confused every time I hear a raconteurs song. But I seriously love jack white and the raconteurs me and my parents listen to them a lot!
genius
I need to find the milkman
They should get Evan Peters to play Jack White
@Fenway41 And Radiohead.
In my opinion the best song of the raconteurs
Pedro Correa agreed
A folk song through and through, a rock song through and through, amazing performance, story and songwriting
I like salute your solution
Old Enough is great as well
Step 1-Go to Walmart.
Step 2-Wait for milk delivery truck.
Step 3-Discover the truth
😆 🤣 😂 😹 lol
Jack is a true artist. You can tell it's not about money or popularity, he makes music for himself. Love it.
👍 Agreed
He's in a class of his own....bursting with creativity and talent...
Just like Kurt Kobain. The money is just an afterthought of living your dream.
When people look back at how shitty the past decade was in terms of music, we can say "well at least we had Jack White."
Jerry Campbell fucking love this comment
Yep. And Sarah Jarosz, and Aoife O'Donovan and Chris Thile, and the Punch Brothers, and Nickel Creek, Billie String... But Jack White criativity is like an active vulcano
Another decade. And this Statement still holds
This is a movie script. I love this song so much.
I can actually see everything happening just like a movie!! So glad The Raconteurs are back!
Wait a MOVIE
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
He paints a picture like few others
The lyrics of this song are superb...
My favourite are the first line and last line of this song...
"Not sure if there's a point to the story, but I'm gonna tell it again........So now you heard another side to the story, but you wanna know how it ends. If ya must know the truth of the tale go and ask the milk man...
Jack must NEVER be forgotten. He has surely earned his place on the top of the hill.
A classic murder ballad, in the tradition of "Rocky Raccoon" by the Beatles or "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" by Bob Dylan.
when i first heard this song it freaked me out. i grew up and live in upstate sc...i was billy and now im the milkman
incest is wincest, they say
i'm from upstate sc
This live-version has something special, every day I wake up with this song and go to bed hearing it again.Jack White on this stage hypnotice me .Thanks for that!!
BOB DYLAN AND JACK WHITE SINGING THIS TOGETHER THATS SOMETHING I HOPE I LIVE TO HEAR
I hate to love Jack white but how can you not
William Austin how can u hate him
jack white is a genius
Jack is the best musician of this century... and of the last...
Absolutely!!
agree
With out a doubt!

Jack and Kanye IMO
Hope to see The Racs back on tour 2019 🤘 Great collective - Great tunes - TALENT 🤘
I hope you did, the show in LA was a face melter.
his voice hot me up! ^^ and this god damn song is glorious, admirable, magnificent, wonderful etc.! I can listent to all day!
Every single dude from The Raconteurs is a monster genius.
love this song, and Amy Farrah Fowler on bass is great
Cant forget about Colin Farell on the piano
No love for Patrick Swayze (RIP) on the other guitar?
jack white is keeping the blues alive... thank god. god bless ya jacky
This fuckin rocks
Este cantante es uno de los mejores de este momento es estupendo el tema y es muy reconocido en el mundo entero yo lo se muy bien tengo amigos en el exterior y me lo cuentan carolina drama gusta mucho la rompe
this was a serius good band man!!!!
Jack would have to write more narrative songs like this, is just brilliant
I think most people don’t understand this song. The point is, the curses live on. Little brother. Gin. The curse lives on.
Such a great performance!
The Raconteurs is the Best!
The Raconteurs albums are masterpieces with this in my top 5 favorite songs by them.
This song is a masterpiece, the humble wont agree, but, I classify this with Bach, pachabel, etc...
Just as awesome as the studio version, if not better. :3
the lyrics are different to the album version
No
skrillex playing bass
Skrilllllĺl
Believe it or not Skrillex is a really good guitarist
I absolutely adore Jack's voice.
Jack needs to not do his hair like this again.
Raconteur is a word that fits perfectly for this song.
tunes from the heavens.
This is good. Has an old-school writing style
fucking astounding !
Thx for the upload. Love it. Missed it.
This is my favorite song from Consoler of the Lonely. Its a truly epic song and the perfect conclusion to a great album.
Lalalala lalalala yeah! Lalalala lalalala yeah! What a band, that a song!!! You do rock, men, definitely!!! 👍
I laugh everytime he says go ask the milkman!
absolutly nice! love it! 1 of your best performances, jack! 👍😊🙆😍🙌🎈🤗😘😀
Incredible
this man can paint a picture,
Ten years were gone and we are still stuck on this song... Perfect!
I love songs that have a story in them. It reminds me of Rocky Raccoon from the Beatles. There's a beginning, a middle, and an end. I love it
Growing up hearing Led Zep, Aerosmith ect.. then listening to80s 90s rock as a teen.. ive felt like there has been a musical draught since 2000 in just good old raw bands that can sound like their record playing live with just insturments, vocals an talent... this guy was a breath of fresh air..just incredible.
Such a great song. I love how they build the intensity in the music in concert with the building vocal intensity.
I've had this song on repeat for a week straight.Jack is simply a genius!
One of the best written lyrics jack has ever written. Classic song!!
Outstanding!
this song gives me chills. Jack White is amazing.
Jack white... Enough said
This reminds me of The Catcher in The Rye
Why
Naahhh, the milkman was Billy's little brother who busts in at the drunk singing "La la la la".
indeeed I think these guys are definitely one of the greatest things to happen in music in a long time
Saw Jack live in March 2018 and he played this song last. The whole crowd was singing the hook. So beautiful. Jack is beyond amazing.
this blue veins, and their cover of bang bang are my favorites by the raconteurs - full stop
Jack sang it as if he was Billy
The White Stripes (self titled album) (1999)
The Big Come Up (2002)
I don't think either of them were trying to copy each other. They just happened to sound similar.
As much as I love this ballad, something makes me want to say, 'hey only us Americans get to sing about our crappy people!' But I'll give this fantastic band a pass.
this song is unreal.
i cannot wait to see this live
Its amazing what imagery you see when you close your eyes and listen to this song
I think Jack White is the man that's the most important musician to follow. He's the only one coming up behind the likes of McCartney and Dylan. Too much talent for one person to handle...

lalala la lalala la yeah...... damn gives me chills every time
Jack White forever!!
Amazing song, lyrics and vocal performance by Jack White.
This song gives me chills... its amazing! Jack Whites voice is perfect
Bob Dylans lyrics are better...I love Jack White and Bob Dylans singing isn't the best but his lyrics knock it out of the park
love his voice. ! ;)
Man the BBC rules I go from watching this to Werner Herzog
Over on ABC I go from watching Dancing With the Stars to The Bachelor or whatever :(
Seriously, Bob Dylan level of songwriting. This song is destined to be a classic in 25 years.
From "Billy broke in" on, it's just chills for me. WOW
I adore this song. It proves Jack White to be a musical genius, and the Raconteurs to be one of the best bands this century.
("The white milk dripped down with the blood" are my favourite lyrics ever)

why is the headstock of jacks guitar blocked out ??? it seems to be done on purpose too ????
My favourite Jack White song
I didn´t know that Amy Farrah Fowler play the bass so well...
